[BtS] "Extra"

Well, the invasion ship would probably work well as a futuristic tank. I was thinking the stealth ship would work as a helicopter, but it really looks more like a stealth bomber. Remembered the design wrong. Not sure what you would use for a futuristic helicopter. Maybe the ship design from the advocates, perhaps?

Chiyu are you still around? Please say yes. ;)
 
I'm working to upgrade Extra to version 3.17. I'll try to implement some things from the new MesoAmerica mod, but not too many (probably 1 leader and 1 religion).
 
I hereby offer you the first version of "Extra" compatible with BtS 3.17!


So.. what's new?

- Included all fixes/changes that came with 3.17 for both the normal BtS files and for the Next War mod (for instance, the new button for the Center of Disease Control and the future unit categories or the new voice-overs for the Next War techs)

- A few minor edits/fixes

- Added the main screen from Chinese Unification (Warlords) as an option alongside BtS, BtS Classic, Warlords and Vanilla (since it's arguably the mod I used the most content from)

- 1 changed civic
* replaced Rites of Remembrance, which didn't really fit in with Mohism, and altered the effects of Mohism to make it more original

- 1 new technology
* Astrogation - from Next War (BtS)

- 1 new religion
* Mesoamericanism - from MesoAmerica (BtS), completed it with files from Amra's mod and re-did all the buttons myself to make the religion blend in flawlessly

- 1 new wonder
* Channel Tunnel - from Rhye's and Fall (BtS), changed the effects to make it unique

- 3 new leaders
* Yuknoom - from MesoAmerica (BtS), leaderhead by Amra, added diplomacy strings
* Ibn Saud - from Road to War (BtS), leaderhead by Ekmek, added diplomacy strings
* Chiang Kai-Shek - from Road to War (BtS), leaderhead by GarretSidzaka, added diplomacy strings

What happened to the interface? The interface in the game is missing... can't give orders or anything. Know a way to fix this?

Too bad. I really wanted to play this mod.

Edit: The UI still works after updating for me at least.

But, I miss the small smiley faces indicating each AI's attitude towards me, is there a way to re-add them?
 
I already noticed the missing smiley faces myself, I will re-add them asap (should be easy).
As for the missing interface.. hmm, I wouldn't know, it should work fine. Have you tried a fresh 'reinstall' of the mod? Maybe some files were double, or, missing.
 
Excellent stuff. I'd had a similar idea myself, but you seem to have saved me a lot of effort. A few thoughts spring to mind.

1. Time. With all the additional odds and ends that have been added I suspect that another 25 turns wouldn't go amiss.

2. Religious Victory - Probably needs to be higher than 51%. I'd bump it up to 66%.

3. Mod Name. "Extra" sounds a little dull. Recalling the Civ3 Mod "Double Your Pleasure" why not call this one, "Triple Your Pleasure"

Tried that, but it didn't work. Still has a missing interface.

Jabie, 51% is already pretty hard for a Religious Victory, 66% nearly impossible with 12 religions (like in this mod). 51% doesn't mean that the religion has to spread to 51% of all cities, no, it means that 51% of all people in the world need to be your religion. To clarify, if there would be 10 cities in the world, and Islam would be in 1 of them, but that city also has Hinduism, then only 5% of the world would be Islamic, and not 10%. Do you get my point? It's hard to explain =P.

DAKH, I uploaded a small patch to re-add Porges' modcomp with the smilies :). Replace CvMainInterface (in Extra\Assets\Python\Screens) with the one in this zip.

PreLynMax, I have no clue what's wrong :S. The mod seems to work fine for most people..
 
Actually, I am having the exact same problem as PreLynMax. I have never download this mod before until today, so its a fresh install. I just don't have any of the interface.

For the people who have trouble with the interface not showing up, well, this might be a shot in the dark, but I'm running at 1280x1024 resolution, and it works perfectly. As I said, a shot in the dark, but try changing your res to that and see how it goes, it's the only thing I can think of, and I really doubt it'll work since this mod doesn't alter the UI much (except a lot of new options in building, military and civics! :D )
 
Uploading 3.17c right now. It will be downloadable in about an hour. Please replace your version as soon as possible, since there were several things seriously wrong with 3.17b (in the future era). I also added a future gunship on request (using Final Frontier graphics), but I haven't yet figured out how to actually make it fly. Any help would be appreciated!

* Future Gunship - from Final Frontier (BtS), used the Construction Ship's model to make a future upgrade for the Gunship

I don't have another resolution choice on Civ 4. I'm running on 1024x768 res. Still no interface.

I had the same problem. But then I realized that I had forgotten to upgrade my Bts to patch 3.17. After installing the patch everything worked perfect.
Hope this will solve your problem.

Fantastic mod. I've been having far more fun playing Civ IV this time around. I picked it up for the additions in the future, and I've been enjoying all the additions along the way. Earth2, Marathon, huge, only at 2700 BC and I've already taken control of Africa and the Middle-east, wiping out six civs in the process.

Having a problem, though. I can't see the icons for the new religions in the city screen! Is this intended? Is there a work around?

The city screen only shows the six vanilla Civ religions on the top right, thus you know whether they're in town.

The new religions are off screen - I can't see them. I've tried 1024*768 & 1152*864 resolutions, but haven't tried higher as my monitor complains.

If I mouse over in the far corner I can see the Zoroastetc religion tooltip. That's the only religion I have at the moment, so I don't know if that'd mean all extra religion tooltips would show up there? Hopefully?

Does this mean I won't be able to tell what expansion religions are in a city without going into the worldbuilder, or is there another way?

Thanks for keeping it updated to the newest patch, or I'd have missed out. :goodjob:
