Interesting.

It must check every turn to see what every unit's upgrade cost is, if it can be upgraded (and more than once for any unit that has two or more possible upgrade paths). That would make this getUpgradePriceOverride callback run a lot.
 
Okay, I removed all the code related to upgrading units. Oligarchy has been replaced with Technocracy and the effects of Leonardo's Workshop have been modified. Please, everyone who had issues with long loading times between turns, test if this version reduces the loading times. If so, then the problem is finally solved :).

Hi there, don't know if this problem is already known...

I just installed the new Extra full mod for Patch 3.19 and after loading modification I can't see the menu texts anymore. Anyone who knows how to fix it? (I'm using a German version of the game.)

Edit: Okay, might be an language problem. I switched to English, now it works.

Hi Chiyu, I've downloaded and installed Extra3.19c_full_beta2, it feels ok on my old machine for now, I'm still at an early stage, more accurate info will come tomorrow. Just to be shure, Technocracy has returned to it's old place with the same bonuses?

BTW CvMapGeneratorUtil.py is still faulty if I pick RandumScriptMap, so I've replaced it with the vanilla version and the random maps look ok.

Thanks for trying to fix the huge end of turn delay on not so powerfull PCs.

is this mod compatibel with the bugmod? When I install the bugmod I loose the interface and some advisors (F1, F2, ...).

In the ExtraGameText.xml is a small bug: there stands: TXT_KEY_UNIT_RELIGION_AZTEC_ADJECTIVE correct is: TXT_KEY_RELIGION_NORSE_ADJECTIVE
 
@Chiyu: Great mod, just some (more of the same) minor issues

* The civilopedia entry for the gunship is missing (only shows the picture)
* The gunship is totally broken (i.e. no graphics in {lower left of} UI, unable to promote when made, removes promotions from upgraded Cavalry) Looks great though!
* units led by a warlord can't choose the Swamp Fox III promotion (even though they are meeting all prerequisites {i.e. SF1 & SF2 + warlord})

ps: I have 3.19 and D/L'd "Extra" 26 Aug 09 (meaning that i assume i have the latest & greatest.
 
Help! I've just recovered my computer after major crash and find that apparently my favorite mod: Extras version 517h is not available and that Extras version 519b no longer downloads all the extras I loved. I especially miss the Inquisitor. Can someone answer my Mayday?

Hello Mr. Jones, I still hold the file Extra3.17l_full.rar, I think it's the last of the 3.17, it's big 612MB so I don't really know how to come to rescue?

I cannot access any version of 317 except k, and the download page with that version still says 317j is needednfor many of the add-ons I like so much and the 319b also does not provide tose goodies. Where can I find a 317l to download?

I'm playing 3.19cfull_beta2, so far 1200AD, at start, very short load time, now the load time has slightly increased and is now more or less stabilized on 20~25 sec. which is acceptible compared to 180 sec. before.

I'm expiriencing some jaggy movment animation, noticed it since 1800AD,, and once or twice during saving or loading I found myself on desktop. after some cleaning and rebooting no more crash to desktop, jaggy movement still exist.

More info later on game end.

I have another isssue with extra 3.17k core

It seems to load but there are no changes ingame?
I'm using blue marble mod, reinstalled 3.17k, running the english version of the game. but everything from extra is missing.

...playing under vista, with bts patch 3.19 - installation folder, as always - program files...bts...mods

...any ideas - besides a complete reinstall? :sad:

Edit: I had two "extra" folders in my mod folder named "extra" and "extra 3.17". so the programm could not decide wether to start extra mod A oder B. silly problem, easy solution ;)
 
Hi. I dont know whether it is a feature of this mod,

but I dont seem to be able to see the entire menu at the bottom of the screen for actions/buildings/unit info/flags.

i looked through the post and can't find any info. what should i do? i unzipped the mod into program files/...../beyond the sword/mods/

EDIT: Im not using any other mods.
 
Yea this mod is the best mod i downloaded so far i think the huns civ should be added with animated Attila just 1 more civilization. The other mods are not to far off just have tomany new things to get a set feel for the basic game.

I really think the Huns civ should be added though Hunnic LH Attila.

I tried to do it myself could not figure it out because it appears to be a different type of download file.

@Karl-Heinz: Fixed. And to be honest, I don't know anything about the bug mod :P.

@villagereaver: That bug with the Gunship only happens with certain civilization, correct? Please specify which civ you were playing with, then I can fix it :).

@J.P.Jones: The inquisitor should still be in the game. No features have been removed since 3.17. From version 3.19 on, it's always the full version (with all those goodies from the add-ons) included, so don't worry ^^.

@agc: Perhaps you're running it together with some other modular content, such as a modified .dll file?

Pterradon: It's an option :). Since the previous versions focused on adding "Nostalgia" content, the next update will focus on "Lords" again. And a big update, it will be.

Right, so it seems the issue with the long loading times between turns is solved at last :). Then it's time to release Extra 3.19c. This version mainly fixes some textual issues that were still present in 3.19c "beta". In addition, Leonardo's Workshop has been modified: it now gives a slight bonus to production, as well as research, as well as culture (to make it better able to represent the universal man that Leonardo was). But please let me know if you have an original, special idea for the wonder :). It's difficult to come up with something truly unique...

thanks for your great mod. My problem was already mentioned above, but i'll state it once more:

After laoding the mod all the texts ingame are gone if the language is not english. I didn't play CIV for a while and had Warlords with amras mod before.
I had the same problem that time, but fixed it somehow. Sadly i can't remember...:rolleyes:

Right now i skipped the language to english and it works allright. As you might imagine it would be nice to change back to my native langue (german). Hope you can helpe me;)
 
All of the text that isn't translated in the files in the Assets/XML/Text folder would need to be translated. This might be easier than it sounds...

The 3 files with names that start with "Terraform" have some keys with only the English data. The number of missing things may be very small (in the 3 Terraform files there are only 8 keys without translations). There may be some missing translations in the files that start with "Extra", but I didn't check them (they are pretty long) - what little I saw had translations. The other files are from the game and are probably fully translated.

A simple workaround is to just copy the English text into the German tags - in this case the rest of the game would be in German, as usual, but the added things are in English.

Or, since you obviously speak English quite well, you could translate them. If you do, you could send them to Chiyu to get them in the mod. The missing translations in the 3 Terraform files only amounts to a few words and phrases plus about 3 full sentences. (Actually, one of the untranslated things is for TXT_KEY_IMPROVEMENT_FOREST which is "Forest" in English - the fully translated version of this is in the base game files already as TXT_KEY_FEATURE_FOREST - why the whole thing wasn't just copied, I don't know.)
 
Funny that you should bring this up, since I actually fixed that part yesterday :). Indeed, there were some text strings in the three Terraform xml's, as well as in the Nostalgia xml without entries for French/German/Italian/Spanish. And that caused the game to stop working in those languages anymore. It's solved now, so in the next version (3.19d), you can all enjoy playing in German again :).
 
As for new wonders, we could maybe look at Alpha Centurie and Call to Power civ, stuff to throw in late game.

Maybe something like Cloning Vats or Cyborg Factory, something that makes clone units stronger with extra xp or promotions (always felt they looked a little weak).

Or Network Backbone, maybe a bonus :espionage: from libraries and universities and :science: from intell agencies.
