[BtS MOD] Wolfshanze 1850-1920 Enhancement Mod v2.0

Something I was thinking- should Germany be Prussia instead?

Reasoning: Prussia as an independent country lasted from I think 1701 (earlier if you count Brandenburg) until 1870, and then ran Germany pretty much until 1945.

Downside:Leaders might have to change, you'd probably have to dump Hitler.

[Cursivation by me] You're forgetting the 1918 revolution which turned the Empire - the 2nd Reich - into a democracy, while Hitler's regime reduced Prussian aristocracy to the upper echelons of the Wehrmacht.

Here's a gentle reminder.

Cephalo has released a new version of the PerfectWorld map script.
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=239982

So you'll remember to include it with your next update! Cheers.

Great mod BTW :) Would love some mines/sea mines! They would have to be implemented in a very good way though, maybe it's hard to get it right.

Edit: maybe I read wrong, I thought that this mod included PerfectWorld. If not, disregard my post ^^

Perfect world can be added in without any need to change the mod, so not really a big deal or need to add.

A) You're obviously not playing the latest version of the Wolfshanze Mod
B) You didn't even read what changed in the latest version of the Wolfshanze Mod
Both correct. Since getting crashes with the nominally compatible versions, I don't upgrade (or even look at it because that'll make me dissaffected with current game) until finishing a game.

Wodan... I've totally revamped all the naval unit scales in the game... you won't see galleons larger then pre-dreadnoughts anymore. That's all fixed now.
Thanks... good to hear. I'll stop pestering you now. ;)

I don't like so much the big swaths of tundra and desert. Makes too huge an impact on what civs start in the "green" area vs one of the crappy regions.

Actually Wodan, my own current game that I'm playing was started from v2.60... it's survived every upgrade through 2.61, 2.62, 2.63 and 2.64. I feel pretty confident if my own saved game can survive all the changes okay, yours should too.

Plus you won't be bothered with out-of-scale ships! ;)

Using your latest mod version as Austria and the mod has proven remarkably unstable for me. It crashes at random places, if I restart my pc and reload, I can play about 5 more turns after it crashed last time, then it'll crash again.

Attached save latest save where problem occurs, it may not for you I don't know.

I'll see what I can find when I get home. Give me as much info as possible... system specs of your computer help too.

Vista Ultimate x64

8600GT nVidia

2 Gigs of Ram

AMD 4000+ Processor Single Core

I can't say I was doing anything specific, it just seems to crash a lot.

Vista Ultimate x64
Everything else sounds good, but one has to wonder about that darn Windows Vista... I gave up on it (too unstable) and went back to WinXP until they patch it properly.

I still haven't had a chance to check your save game, but I will when I get home.

I can't fathom why it would be unstable with Austria... has there been any pattern to the crashes? Entering diplomatic screens, building something in-particular, entering an age, or just totally random crashes? Any repeat action cause a crash or total randomness?

I don't want to pre-judge, but I wonder if Vista is a factor or not.

If you add the intercept promotion to all naval vessels, then you should add it to Machine guns as well, because pointing a machine gun upwards was the first kind of defense armies had against Airships and Planes. It would also take the place of adding a separate Flak Gun unit. Plus Flak guns were also pointed laterally as anti-infantry and anti-tank weapons, notably the german 88mm Flak Gun improvised well as an anti-armor weapon in the Battle of El-Alemien (i spelled that wrong), so it wouldn't upset the balance.

It's also annoying when your between combustion and flight or rocketry, and the AI is bombing the crap out of you with their airships and you can't do anything about it.

And I know its possible because SAM infantry can get the Interception Promotion line.

I have dual boot with Vista and XP on this thing, I'll spend some time installing Civ 4 + Warlords + BTS on my XP installation, then your mod, and I'll see what happens.

It sounds like a lot more work than it is, I'll get back to you on this.

(I'm running Vista SP1 RTM by the way, much better but still a little...eh.)

Shouldn't subs be able to attack without declaring war?

Isn't that how the US got into WWI anyway? (i know it wasn't the only reason but it was important)

I'm not saying that nuclear subs should be able to but I think regular (ww1, ww2) submarines should be able to attack anybody. Like unrestricted submarine warfare. Or make it a promotion like "Unrestricted Warfare - Able to attack without declaring war" only available to subs. or "Hidden Nationality" so that any ship could become similar to a privateer.

And why do only privateers get money when blockading ports. This should be a promotion too. like "Commerce Raider - recieves money from blockading". If I remember correctly, in your mod (or it was wikipedia) it says that destroyer escorts were used as commerce raiders or to defended for commerce raiders (I'm paraphrasing, I don't remember what it said exactly).

With these promotions it would add a new level of combat BELOW the waves. Subs could hide and attack ships moving by them, meaning even if you aren't at war you'd still have to use the convoy system. Or you could use them to defend against surprise attacks. the best defense is a good offense.

Plus i don't think a unit that obsoletes so quickly should be the only one to have these abilities. Come on, the privateer is obsolete as soon as it's made. and even when they aren't doing anything, just sitting in your port, an AI caravel set on explore mode moves into your city and destroys your privateer with no chance for the privateer to defend itself. at least the submarine can hide from most units.

In case it helps, any Barbarian Uprising type event has caused crases for me. It continues to trigger even when there is no place for the barbs to go (no unowned land tiles) and the game crashes on subsequent turns. I'm not sure what this is related to as I did'nt think Wolf changed any events. Either way I've been turn 20 archer kilt too many times so I mod that event line off anyway, but I got a reminder when I got the latest version and was too lazy to do my regular changes and merges.

As a side note, any chance of making Aztec Jaguar warriors 6 and Roman Legionares 7? It's not really what you're modding Wolf but I find it balances UU's beter that way.

I never touched anything in the code dealing with Barbarians. I have, however had Barbarian uprises in my own modded games without anything averse happening (well, besides the barbarians themselves).

No plans to mess with existing UUs... but feel free to mod-it on your own end... should only take a few seconds in the Civ4UnitInfos.xml.

You know what, I'm not having any problems under Windows XP with the exact same rest of the stuff. :/

Yeah... there's a reason why people have been dumping Vista to go back to WinXP.

I think you've found the culprit.

Shoot... just read some of the articles and blogs on Vista and and it's a cinch to stick with XP. I've got a brand new box of Vista on my shelf (got it for free at a conference) and it's going to sit there until they get it right. ;)

Right on. I'm not touching that box (despite its oh-so-tempting Dx10) until at least Service Pack 1 comes out, and even then I might wait until SP2.

SP1 IS RTM'd, which means it's done. (If you didn't know) If you subscribe to MSDN you can download it now, or you can install a registry edit to allow you to download it off Windows Update.

Just food for thought, I like XP too but I do work for a Crysis mod and for some of the work I need DX10...
