[BtS MOD] Wolfshanze 1850-1920 Enhancement Mod v2.0

Maybe he's asking if you plan on any more tech changes? Personally, I wouldn't mind a couple more techs thrown in to give some units some more breathing room, and maybe some social techs in the modern age, such as advanced economics.

(Would give federal reserve bank, maybe a new corporation)

Yea, I figured if the mod was focusing on 1850-1920 there would be more... focus on that era.

Plus I was fishing for ideas for what techs I should use to house all those ships in my own mod. Cause my mod covers that exact same time period, and I was hoping folks more knowledgeable about navy matters than I could suggest some new tech choices for the ships.

I'd suggest hydraulics as the technology requirement for the pre-dreadnaughts.

Actually, if I did do a new tech for Pre-Dreadnoughts, it would have to be the Triple-Expansion Steam Engine... a major breakthough that allowed for greater speeds and greater tonnage displacement.

This might be something I am doing wrong, but I followed the directions on how to change the default German flag, but when trying to save it in wordpad, I get a error message, Cannot create with the file location and make sure the path and file name are correct. Is there something else that needs to be done?

Did it have any use really beyond military use? Could you give it an effect other then just enabling a unit?

My thing I want, if I was to add anything, is more social techs. The military stuff is down pretty pat right now on the land and sea ends. Airpower I understand is still being worked on.

Were you in "wordpad" or "notepad"? It does make a differance... I highly recomend "Notepad".

Try it again in Notepad and see what you get... if it doesn't work for you, I can fix it on this end and upload whatever version you want... it's a very small txt file, so it's no biggie. Just tell me which flag you want if you can't get it on your end.

I said "if" I was going to add any new techs to the game... I'm really not planning on going down that road... I'm fairly happy with things the way they are now... when I do my next "big" update (besides just new models), I do plan on adding Dales Air Combat mod and a couple of other features.

Having said that, the most important development for Pre-Dreadnoughts was the triple-expansion steam engine... plus it gave me a chance to show-off that animated gif! :goodjob:

My concern is that it's entirely possible to skip the WWI units and beeline to the WWII units.

One other issue/concern- shouldn't Austria have a different UB/UU then the HRE? I know you said something about Jaeger infantry (guessing musketman replacement) only UB's I can think of for Austria would be either a Coffee House or maybe a Spy Council (to represent Metternich)- give them an intelligence agency that's beefed up with an earlier tech perhaps like the Sumerians have with the Ziggurat?

Since when? What units are you talking about? It's impossible to get to WWII aircraft without first getting WWI aircraft... it's impossible to get WWII tanks without first getting WWI tanks... it's impossible to get WWII Battleships without first getting WWI Dreadnoughts. It's impossible to get to WWII Marines without first getting WWI Infantry. There's only two units I know of that you could get at about the same time as WWI units and that's the CA and DD... both of which I'm moving back on the tree in the next update. None of the tanks, battleships or aircraft of WWII can be gotten before WWI units though.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

I've mentioned this before... I will fix this later, just not sure when. It's on the "to-do" list.

Hey Wolfshanze, you might want to consider modding the event, I don't remember what it was called, that wants you to build X triremes. Since Galleas' obsoletes them, you don't get nearly as much time as intended when they designed the event.

There might be some others that fall into similar categories because of the new units.

Wodan

He modded the Overwhelm Doctrine event to allow Light Bombers (thank you very much)
The Triereme event would probably help too.

No more Rathus huh? It makes sense and Austria is beter, but the Rathus was a really good UB.

Rathaus was a little too good.

Perhaps a rathaus upgrade to courthouses could be given by mass media or a tech (regulation? populism?)

I swore in one game I went straight from Cavs to WWII Tanks. I think it's because I often ignore Artillery unless i need it.

Hmmm... maybe Artillery is the key. I'll look into that.

Excellent thanks. Any suggestions for Dreadnoughts or the paddle steamer/iron clads? (something besides the obvious steel & steam power techs).

Age of Steam:
Ironclad Gunboat (12/2... coastal only) - Coal - [Military Science & Steam Power]
Ironclad Cruiser (15/4... ocean going) - Coal - [Steel & Steam Power]
Ironclad Battleship (18/3... ocean going) - Coal - [Steel & Steam Power]
Paddle Steamer (10/4 - 4 cargo capacity) - Coal - [Steam Power]

Pre-Dreadnought Age:
Protected Cruiser (22/5) - Coal - [Combustion & Rifling]
Pre-Dreadnought (26/4) - Coal - [Combustion & Rifling]

Dreadnought Age:
Destroyer Escort (26/6) - Coal/Oil - [Assembly Line, Combustion, Artillery & Physics]
Dreadnought (38/5)* - Coal/Oil - [Assembly Line, Combustion, Artillery & Physics]

I've got plenty of social techs for my mod. I cover the exact same period too, 1850-1920. Here is an early draft of some of my ideas:

Hopefully I'll have something up and downloadable in the next week or so.

Ah, that's too many techs- I'd want just two or three added to the epic game- things that made sense and had global application.

Ideas:

Advanced Economics- covers advanced economic ideas- going to Smithian to Ricardian economics

Puts in Federal Reserve- which would stop half effects on inflation for the rest of the game.

Populism- Think Teddy Roosevelt and Trust Busting
Effects would be based on civics.

Athletics- Athletic Competitions
-National Sports League +1 happiness from Coliseum, +10% gold
-FIFA. (I think FIFA might fit as a world wonder, gives +25% gold +10% culture for city, Sports leagues produce +1 happiness)
