I know you know... I had quoted and was speaking to "Ladiesman" on the subject of cavalry upgrading to tanks!Actually, I knew you did that. That's why I said that. It's one of your best logical changes, and why I like your mod- you add more logic to the game. I even said in the above post that Cavalry upgrades to early tank.
MechInfantry would remain unchanged stat-wise... just a graphics change. What sort of stats/promotions do you plan for MotorInf and MechInf?
As a side note, it will make a lot of sense to allow Cavalry to upgrade to either the Early Tanks or MotorInf.
I didn't know it was common knowledge, but thanks!Happy Birthday, Wolf!

As for upgrade paths, Traditional Cavalry regiments were "upgraded/changed" to armored divisions between and during the World Wars... I don't know of too many (really any) horse cavalry divisions that were turned motorized infantry divisions. They either stayed horse or went armored. Motorized/Mechanized Infantry isn't called infantry for nothing you know!
sorry, that is incorrect. what many fail to recognize when glossing over WW2 history is that the French had no less technology, they even had more tanks and many were what we consider 'heavier' tanks than what the Germans used when they invaded, so technology was hardly the issue. The mobility / tactical usage of tanks especially since their early advent was much more important, such as how the Germans understood after failure in WW1 to use differently from traditional theory, assigning them together in contingents (not without dispute among many in their own military) instead of the previous traditional theory which had tanks in the role of supporting infantry on a seemingly solitary basis which quickly showed its weakness when those tanks were enveloped and dispatched with ease by the superior German tactical theory, human ingenuity rather than technology. When technology is concerned, if anything was more advanced that the Germans had, it was their machine-gun, and military theory (again) using it, where they used infantry to support machine guns (as the offensive thrust point) instead of machine guns supporting infantry (as done in the trench warfare of WW1 - technology being a partial evolution for this besides leaving behind conservatism). Their masterpiece in the MG34 was very unique for the time, imo.The French probably were always a bit behind in their military. After all they were the ones that neglected looking at new technology in WWII which they could have afforded with the cost of the Maginot Line that would have made the difference against Germany... If they had put all that time and effort into tanks, planes and artillery that they did into the Maginot Line, France might not have fallen, at least not as quickly... At the beginning of WWII they forgot that WWI was in the past and there were new ideas that were better... They were not alone, however, Britain had the same ideas originally, gearing up to fight WWI over again, when their opponents were gearing up to fight a new type of warfare...
I don't know if you want to call it "intentional" so much as probably more "lazy"... the base model is the asian caravel (though heavily modified), and I was too lazy to do a new button for it... so yeah... kind of an oversight... maybe I'll get around to fixing that! It's also a tad too small... I've already scaled it up a bit for the next release.Hey Wolfshanze, was it intentional for the Vietnamese galley to use the caravel thumbnail?
Uggg... that's Chamaedrys' Kogge, which to me looks like a near-perfect circle and totally wrong look as far as I'm concerned... Cog's weren't beautiful by any means, but they weren't circular in shape either! I much prefer the Cog I'm using right now in the Wolfshanze Mod... and I was aware of that Cog before (it's been around for awhile)... let's just say if that was the only Cog model available, we wouldn't have a Cog in the Wolfshanze Mod. The other ship in the link is Chamaedrys' Kobukson... which I'm already using as the Asian Galleass (with modified animations to fire cannons instead of arrows, with team-color added). That's a much better model then his Kogge. In my searches I ran into this Kogge or Asian cog unit. Says it's animated. Not sure if you want it or not
On the issue of buttons, I have no problem making buttons, but I just need something to work with (or something to steal). A good source of buttons is often someone else's mod. I might recomend the Total Realism Mod for Warlords... they have a habit of cramming every possible new unit and tech into their mod they can think of... lots of buttons in there you don't normally find in the download section.
