Bug reports and technical issues

no, with the Incans I took 1 city from them, razed another and killed their conqueror-stack plus some other units.
with England it's mostly smaller skirmishes but still some fighting.

I really want to vasallize the Aztecs as England in order to have at least 1 civ that can supply slaves but even though BUG says he's ready to capitulate and I have Astro he won't talk to me. I don't want to accidently destroy them... :(

Inca vs Spain: killing units, taking cities
England vs Arabia: killing units
England vs Aztec: killing units, taking cities
Japan vs Spain (1700 AD): killing units, taking cities (they also didn't want to make peace for at least 100 years, then I stopped playing)
Arabia vs Byzantium: War dures from the start (630) on without them wanting to talk to me, ever (950 so far)

while not really a bug, it still is an unwanted feature, I think:

one holy city can be razed

Spoiler :
http://blogvonundzulama.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/rfcdoc-nohinduism.png

the initial warrior with some xp (from a hut or a barb) can attack the city at 65+% and then it is auto-razed...leaving hinduism without a holy city.

This might be intentional, Leoreth, but has anyone else noticed AIs do not make peace? It says they are willing to make peace, I just can't talk to them.

For example, as China, I have been at war with the Tamils since 100 BCish. It is currently 1200 AD. They still refuse to even talk. Japan declaring on me a few turns after their spawn, and despite having blown up hordes and hordes of triremes, they refuse to talk. Korea declared very soon after spawn, and they continue to suicide units into my cities to no effect. Hell, Tibet declared on me. (And was promptly eliminated. Don't declare on me while I have a death stack a few tiles away from your capitol waiting for the Mongols)

The more aggressive AI is cool, but can it please make peace?

lol, I mentioned that 5 or 6 posts ago and you already commented on that :D

I noticed that in SVN 600 the AI seemed unwilling to ever make peace. With the Incans I was at war with Spain from 1520 to 1700AD (end of the game) and with my current game as England I declared war on Arabia around 900AD and by 1400 they still don't want to talk to me.

I didn't change anything with the diplo AI. Is it largely a cold war? Sometimes the AI needs to suffer some losses before it is willing to negotiate.

As a side-note, are you taking cities or just killing units?

however it's nice to see, that its not just me.
This makes some games quite frustrating because you either have the option to destroy the civ or stay in a cold-war-situation with them for the rest of the game, never being able to trade with them again.

edit: while we're on the subject of bugs that make some civs virtually unplayable, any news on the slavery-issue? (can't enslave sub-sahara-population)

I don't think I ever touched this code except for the French UP which has been in effect for a long time, but I'll take a look at it to make sure there is nothing that can have a side effect.

It says they are willing to make peace, I just can't talk to them.

Where does it say that they're willing to make peace? I've noticed with BUG that it will often say that a civ will make peace even if they refuse to talk to you. If that's the case, then it's a problem with BUG since I've seen that happen when I'm just playing BTS with BUG and no other mods.

Yeah, BUG notifications. It tells you the AIs will make peace, it just doesn't check to make sure they will talk.

Well, I checked again and there isn't anything I've changed except the French UP. That's normal BtS mechanics.

yeah, thats the normal way.

there's a certain turn limit (10?) that there will be war after a declaration, no matter what.
and then it depends on whether or not units are being killed, cities taken or at least one side has units within the culture of the other side.

still that doesn't explain why the AI won't talk to you after hundreds of years of war, when you've taken cities from them, destroyed their attack stacks, etc...

this is not my first game, not even with BUG ;)

I'm not convinced that this is actually a problem when we're still operating under the base game mechanics that have worked all the time.

After updating to the latest svn, I have experienced not being able to make peace aswell. As England, I was unable to make peace with the aztecs at anytime during my game. I experienced the same in a China game, where it was impossible to make peace with both the koreans, the japanese and the mongols. In both games i killed plenty of units and both captured and razed enemy cities.

I have no idea if it is DOC or BUG or just plain vanilla, but I just wanted to say that there apparently is a problem, as several people has experinced it.

Thanks for the great mod. Keep up the good work!!

Hi, long time lurker here. Just wanted to corroborate this "Unable to make peace" bug:

I was playing an Arab 600 AD game and invaded the byzantine empire - I eventually left them with just the balkans and southern italy, but even after losing half their cities they still refused to talk to me (they also didn't collapse which I thought was odd, but one thing at a time).

Welcome to the forums!!!!! :clap::band::band::clap:
Now go ask METY for his intro :p

While running city states and totalitarianism or egalitarianism only the specialists that are allowed by buildings give food. The specialists allowed by the civics not.

Sadly, that one isn't a bug. Before that limit was in place, people were able to get size 100+ cities with City States and it was just a little broken overall.

Yeah, that is intentional.
