Bug reports and technical issues

Playing as the Italians, I founded a city on the isle of Crete, expecting the dynamic name to be Candia. Unfortunately, it seems as if this name hasn't been added to the settler map, for the city I founded was named Ravenna, which I assume is the second name from the city names list.

It was originally used with VD. I have a copy of RFC DoC with the newest SVN and without VD and opened the save with that and got the same CTD.
I'm afraid the save is already corrupted because of the bug in the VD version then :(

Sorry, I don't remember the wording but neither can I find the passage in the Assets\XML\Text\CIV4GameText_RFCHints.xml you mentioned. I'm certain I saw it though, it was just a few hours ago...
Yeah, it's not in that file because it's a BtS hint.

Oh, good point, will add it.

This time, it wasn't even the Seljuks that auto-captured my city.
It was the Mongols. This is just starting to be unfair.
Just a warning for all playing Persia on 1.9, because of this,
Persia is pretty much unplayable right now.

Enclosed are the problem saves:

I suppose this is not a bug, but a feature but a quite annoying one if you want to play the Tamils non-historical.
This would be a minor issue if the Tamils could still build conventional caravels, but

Getting this error message: "Icon size mismatch. 64 size is only allowed by the city indicator compositor."

Only 3 turns away from winning and crashing everytime...

I am no coder, but I found this in the Netherlands Dynamic Names and it makes me think something bad might happen if they went communist.

Spoiler :

Second one should be FASCIST?

So there's hope for me playing without VD and not getting those CTDs? Kind of a bummer, but could be worse :)
Yes. Maybe you could even play with patched VD. It's just that this particular game was corrupted in some way, and patching/uninstalling VD won't retroactively correct that.

You're right, it's meant to be that way because Dharanis can carry all units, which would turn them into a Carrack-equivalent.

Maybe making them a Trireme replacement with still the current stats would be a better solution?

With latest SVN , I crashed with English in 1475 ad.
Did you start that game before updating?

Can you upload a save? And if you're using SVN, I'd like to know your revision. Also, it'd be helpful to know if you updated after starting that game.

Thanks. It's nothing critical, they would lack a fascist name and show "Dutch Empire" when communist instead. But good catch nonetheless.

Here is the save file for the game just before it crashes. And also the messages from my screen when it does crash. Hope you can find the problem :)

Edit: Did not update while playing this game, same version all the way through. SVN 387

Another naming issue while settling on Crete, this time as the Byzantines. The city was named Nicomedia, whereas it should have been Chandax. I'm now beginning to suspect that Crete may not have names for a number of civilizations who have this island as part of their core or historical area. I'll try founding a city there as the Arabs and let you know how it goes.

Ok, I encountered a slightly different issue when settling Crete as the Arabs. The city does have a name that takes its location into account, however the city name, Lefkosa is incorrect. I've played RFC since the beginning, when I played the version which was shipped with BtS, so I'm aware of the precedent of the same spit of land being different islands for different civilizations, such as in the Caribbean or in the Eastern Mediterranean. My quibble is that with the addition of Cyprus, the Arabs should found Lefkosa there instead of Crete, and the city in Crete should be named Rabd al-Handaq, or simply al-Handaq (from whence the Hellenized name Chandax derives).

Yeah, treating Crete as Cyprus is definitely out of the question. I'll take care of that.

Edit: changed the name as follows:

Arabia: Rabd al-Handaq
Byzantium founds: Heraklion
Byzantium acquired: Chandax
Italy: Candia
Turkey: Kandiye
Greece acquires: Iraklion

Thanks, the Ottomans also found the city of Lefkosa on Crete, may I suggest that it be changed to Kandiye?

edit: Oops, sorry I posted this before your edit to the last comment, my apologies

That would be definitely better. You could even reduce their stats to 3 and they would still be good enough to serve their UHV purpose, i.e. taking over Indonesia - especially with all the barbarian promotions.

Having no caravels probably means that Tamil domination is almost impossible - unless you get the perfect "free" India or China.

I just got BTS today and after installing and patching to 3.19, I tried installing this mod just like I had with Warlords previously. However, when I try to load RFC Dawn of Civiliaztion from the Main Menu, I can't see the appropiate map to play.

If I try to load the WBS directly from the Mod Folder, I get the error message 'Mods\RFC Dawn of Civilization v1.9\ is an invalid mod directory, ignoring', even though my the folder name is RFC Dawn of Civilization. Does anyone know how I could fix this?

(I have tried running without Blue Marble, but I encountered the same problems)

Put the mod into the MODS folder in your Documents.
