Bug Reports and Technical Issues

Despite Indonesia being plainly visible, they do not appear in diplomacy options. Same thing for the Tamils that I just met a couple of turns ago.
I loaded this save (on 1.16.5) and they appeared as a Tamil vassal. Do you have any special scoreboard display settings?
 
Reloading this save now and they appear too. When I played it back then they did reappear after a few turns, no idea why. I don't believe I've really touched the scoreboard either.
 
Hi all, just tried Greece start and the game keeps crashing right after 330 BC. Don't know why maybe because I did find so many techs from Great persons that I found Orthodoxy as Greece in 340/330 BC?:crazyeye:

Edit: Manage to get the victory screen after 2 retries...

Portugal colonies in Brazil doesn't flip to the brazilians during its rise. Also, some python exceptions appear during the rise of Brazil.

What is causing Mongolia to declare war on me at the beginning of the next turn? I would understand better if it was a standard DOW but there's no diplomacy window of the leader actually declaring war, it just sorta... happens.

I deleted the mod, uninstalled civ iv beyond the sword, reinstalled the mod (using developer version). I did this to get the game to work because it kept giving errors. Now I still can't play, but a different kind of problem. This time when I load the mod the mod doesn't appear where it should but in that spot all there is is a quicksave to the road of war ww2 mod that came with the game. In "play now" it gives the option to play dawn of civ but when I click a civ and try to place it loads the mod then crashes and I never play a turn.

The new git version fixes the teleporting barbarian issue, but barbarians still get a free turn when they spawn (both inside your territory and outside). I believe it is due to the turn order with the new slot based civ system.

Rome starts off at war with the Celts. This change is historical but I'm not sure if it is intended. I am unsure if the Celts start off at war with everyone.
 
Is it WAD that Persia can immediately declare another expansion war on me after I negotiate a truce with them? You can see a the save for an example, making peace with Persia results in another expansion war the next turn.

I meet some confusing bugs on replaying. Here's the description and files.
1.Bug description: When clicking the replay button on HoF, the replay screen don't show up. Sometimes a c++ runtime error occurs.
2.Some replays have the bug while others not. These replays can be watched normally. Most newly-finished replay have the bug.
Here's the replay. The Harappa one is without the bug. The Chinese one is with the bug. Please check if the replay is of something wrong or not.

Issue with the Jewish URV - gives a checkmark, but still says "Not yet". Added a bunch of Great Statesmen and still says not yet.

I don't think it's a bug with the mod itself but maybe the Civ IV engine I'm thinking but I often reload a save game if I make the wrong move. Most of the time it's fine but maybe 20% of the time I get a CTD. Any idea why that is?

Also, just a technical question, hypothetically if Firaxis decided to remaster Civ IV, (say for the 20 year anniversary in a few years... holy **** we're old), would it be possible they could make the game way faster and smoother and less intensive on sayyyy horsehockey laptops? I 99% doubt they would, but again, hypothetically.
 
Yes, it would definitely help. The two main causes of bad Civ4 game performance are 1) single threaded game logic and 2) 32bit memory model. Rewriting the game from ground up to totally make use of these features is probably not in the card but switching to them in principle should still be a big win for comparatively little cost.

I have to say I am also secretly wishing for a remaster. The successor games in the Civ series have developed in a distinctly different way so it's not like they would create a competitor to their own product. I'd think of it more like WoW Classic.
 
Agreed. It could be a good marketing decision if they release Civ VII in 2025, and bundling the Civ IV remaster with it, even if it's part of a pre order bundle. Any way we could get in touch with them where they'd actually read that suggestion? I know Rhye has good standing with them.

I did some tests and discovered that the bug occurs if and only if there're too much replays in the file (about 20-30). So the problem lies in the HoF codes, not the saves. I couldn't explore it further due to my lack of coding knowledge.
