Bug Reports and Technical Issues

Good news, I may have found the culture bug in another one of my games for you to look at. I spawn in as Byzantine, and flip a (presumably) barbarian Constantinople, and then notice that my culture is expanding at a snails pace. The culture per turn shrinks every turn, until it grows at 0.01/turn. The save is a turn after I spawn in, and is the earliest I have.

What a weird bug. If you still have it, the game should have also generated an initial save (3000 BC), which may be helpful.

I'm not sure that it did, at least I can't find it. Where does it save it to?

Not sure, it may be next to the regular autosaves.

Okay, so unfortunately I do not have the initial save for this game, but after messing with the options and searching the forums for a bit, I managed to setup my game to get the turn 0 autosave in the future.

If anybody out there needs help in setting up a turn 0, initial autosave, 3000 BC autosave, here's how I did it.
Go to your RFC DoC mod folder, search and open the GlobalDefinesAlt file with notepad, and under the "NO_AUTOSAVE_DURING_AUTOPLAY" line, change the 1 under that into a 0. The speed at which the game autoplayed while autosaving seemed minimally affected, in my test.
If you also want to change the intervals at which your game autosaves, go to Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword, open the Civilization IV.ini file with notepad, search for "AutoSaveInterval", and change the number beside that to however many turns you want passing in between autosaves.

Edit: I also went into the Bug menu, and under the "General" tab, under "Autosave", I ticked "Start Save".

Also one more bug to report: Playing as Ethiopia, all of my cities here are trading with far-away cities that do not have Orthodoxy in them. (Including a couple of minor cities)

Why is that a bug?

Why is that a bug?
I have a trade route with minor cities Luoyang and Dilli, neither of which have Orthodoxy. Ethiopia's ability allows them to trade with any city so long as that city has Orthodoxy.

Implying you do not have open borders with them? Oh I just read "minor", I take it they're independent?

Yes, sorry for not clarifying.

Sorry for not reading properly :)

Okay Leoreth, I think I got it this time. I re-reolled a couple more times, and got a game where my empire flips several barbarian cities. Load in and skip the next couple turns, and you'll see how the former-barbarian cities actually have regressing culture, which is very strange. I attached the initial 3000 BC save, and the save of the turn Byzantium spawns in. Hopefully you can squash this nasty bug. :)

Great! I hope I can fit in a session addressing the most critical bugs soon.

Glad to see this issue being brought up here, I've experienced this a couple of times and was about to have a look if I could send a save file with this bug. What seems to happen in my games is the culture growth of a city affected by this bug starts to stagnate turn by turn and by the time it reaches 300 (I'm playing on Epic speed), it starts decreasing all the way back after which again it resumes growth towards 300 and so forth.

Maya, turn 179 crash to desktop. Most recent Git version (updated yesterday). Didn't seem to be a MAF as I didn't get the typical error message. Save attached. It doesn't let me upload log files though. I tried to convert them to txt but it just erases all of the content. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Kind of, but I'm open to changing that.

It was just sort of unexpected to me as a player when I went to go improve whales with what, to me, seemed to be an all-in-one unit and finding out I needed to build a fishing boat. Not something that really impacts the Polynesian game much, but just a mild annoyance. A subversion of (maybe unreasonable) expectation.

Yeah, but more likely I never considered whaling boats when creating this unit.
