Bush Refuses To Let WH Officials Testify Under Oath

In my opinion, it was when Gore had phoned GWB and conceded the 2000 presidential election .....and then reneged on it later.

Clintons ?
Nixon ?
LBJ ?

or more recent memory would be
Jack abbramoff ?
Mark Foley ?
Jeff gannon ?
Scooter Libey ?
Michael Brown ? (*aka brownie)

It is so funny to see the administration run around, and try to find ways to get around testifying under oath.

I mean even the most dim-witted of Americans can figure out that someone who wants to talk, but "not under oath" just wants to lie.

Does Bush think most people in America are stupid!?

That none of them have seen Perry Mason or Matlock?

I have never seen an administration so incompetant in all my life, and now that they cant hide everything with their rubber stamp congress, even their political saavy is starting to come unglued at the hinges. Yeah, this is enjoyable!

Go down you sick corrupted traitors!!!!

 :rotfl:

The whole web of lies is starting to unravel, they just kept lying to cover up the last one, and eventually, they got caught.

YOU ESS AY!
YOU ESS AY!
YOU ESS AY!
YOU ESS AY!
YOU ESS AY!

If the White House has nothing to hide, then going under oath should be no problem.

Ooohh! Now the freedom juice tastes bitter!

Poor Bush lovers. You loved the worst president ever, by far. Biggest stinking farce to ever sit in the white house. Republicans are going to be in pain for this presidency for decades.

That last part I must disagree with. They might even rewin the presidency after 2008. Republicans will rebound from this disastrous presidancy just fine.

You mean maybe win with a liberal mayor?

The party is in shambles, and they may win the presidency, but congress, they are going to have a tough time making any gains there.

Remember, 51% of Americans in 2004 voted to retain a president who brought us into war with Iraq. In a sane country, the party that did that would be in a shambles. I honestly believe that Republicans will recover from this disaster within 10 years or less.

I am here to disagree with you Phlegmak. The GOP is taking it on the snout and they will indeed suffer for it for the next generation. If not for longer.

That being said, yes, they may win the Presidency soon, even in 2008. (10% chance maybe, but its possible.) But that is not the measure. Here are some happy facts.

A recent poll asked Americans if they had a generally favorable opinion of the two parties. The GOP had a 35% approval rating and the DEMs 54%. This is a massive change compared to just 2002 when both parties tied at 53%. This is a massive change in an ordinarilly slow-changing measure.

In 2008 21 GOP Senators stand for re-election versus only 12 Democrats. Under ordinary circumstances, statitistical odds favor the DEMs to pick up a seat or two. But these are not ordinary times (see above). Expect the Democrats to pick up five or more net seats.

In the House, majorities once taken are hard to lose. The GOP took the HOuse in 1884 and it took the worst President in hisory to knock it loose. Before then the DEMs held the House for something like 42 years.

On the state level, the Democratic rout was even more severe in '06 than the national results. Democrats now control more than half of the Governorships, and dominate State legistative bodies. The Democratic farm teams are stocked.

The GOP is rapidly losing its appear outside the deep South and the oil states. Western state conservatives are waking up to reality. It's dawning on them that they've hitch their wagons to nutcases.

So all signs point to a very marginalized GOP for the next 10 to 30 years. Yes, they may compete forthe Presidency. That is what they did between Hoover and Reagan. They put all their offort into winning that one office, because they had no chance to compete on a broad level in Congress. So the GOP might produce a Presidental term or two by 2020. But the true measure of their pain will be in Congress, in state govenrnments, and by their lack of a nation-wide voter base.

THAT is the legacy Geroge W. Bush has left to his party.

The GOP was formed by a guy who said, "...but you can't fool all the people all the time." It may well be ended by someone who put that notion to the test.

Karma.

Now let's build up some good karmo for America. Let's impeach this criminal administration out of our beloved Oval Office!

If Obama or Hillary win the dem primary, I think the GOP chances of winning are going to be far, far, higher than 10%....more like 90%.

Maybe, maybe not. Currently congress actually has a lower approval rating than the president. If the Dems continue to insist on voting on non-binding resolutions (i.e. not doing their jobs) your prediction may not come true.

I would disagree with you. Havent you noticed that such states like Massachusetts and California and New York have Republican Govs?

Sorry, but if your political knowledge is of the extent that you think Lincoln founded/formed the GOP you need some more time studying your history books. Lincoln wasnt even the first GOP president nominee to run - it was John C. Fremont. It was formed 6 years prior to Lincoln becoming President.

So by all means, go study some more.

Not going to happen.

I corrected it for you, two out of three just voted in Dem governors six months ago.

Calling Arnold a Republican is really reaching, too. And as for the state government as a whole I think the state lege is something like 66% Democrat.

90% chance of a GOP Presidential win in 2008. Very amusing. Thanks for the laugh.

Congressional poll numbers are low, because, sur prise surprise, the GOP dominated 109th Congress is infamously known as the "Do-Nothing Congress. The elextion will be held in 2008, after two years of a "Do-Something Congress" paints the GOP malfeasence and incompetence in the starkest possible terms.

Have you noticed there are fifty states, not three? Free clue for you. 28 Governors are more than 22 Governors. 28 is more than half of 50. Half of fifty is 25. Now that you are freshly armed with new mathmatical knowledge, please go re-read my original comment.

The GOP itself calls itself the "Party of Lincoln". Here are some nice honest right-wingers who will tell you the Republican National Committee has approved use of the phrase "Party of Lincoln" to refer to the GOP. Fear not, MobBoss, this description is approved for pro-GOP propaganda purposes.

Consider yourself schooled.

Too rich! I didn't even catch that, being blinded by the idocy of the entire thrust of the comment; "less than half" being dissimilar to "none at all".

A couple years ago Right winger zealots would be calling Gov. Schwartzenegger a "RINO". Republican In Name Only.

Now, of course, as their party swirls down Toilet Bush, they need every RINO they cann rally to their side.

BTW here's alist of the current state legislative balance of power, much to MobBoss' utter frustration.

They still are and he still is.

Since Schwarz's term got well under way and his true colors had a chance to shine, I've never heard the argument that his election says something about the potential for Republicans to win big elections in blue states. A real conservative Republican who knew anything about Arnie would probably be disgusted by the implication of that statement ;) namely that Republicans have to water down their fire-breathing wingnuttery to win in California.

Which is true.

In fact there are far more Democrats representing districts won by Bush in 2004 than the reverse. That's why the party isn't as message-disciplined as the GOP, because we have a lot of people who have to go back and face tough elections. But continuing victories also show that we're the stronger party, because we win even in "enemy territory."

No wonder Bushco doesn't want to send anybody to testify:

Monica Goodling, a Justice Department official involved in the firings of federal prosecutors, will refuse to answer questions at upcoming Senate hearings, citing Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination, her lawyer said Monday.

"The potential for legal jeopardy for Ms. Goodling from even her most truthful and accurate testimony under these circumstances is very real," said the lawyer, John Dowd.

I am willing to bet the GOP wins. Want to take me up on it? Last time I did, I won a steak dinner..I could use another one.

Ah..no. Those are current polls....not old ones. People expected more out of them dems and what did they get? Even more pork and non-binding resolutions. Thats not what the dems promised at all.

The GOP itself calls itself the "Party of Lincoln".

That because Lincoln was their first president...but he wasnt their founder.

Consider yourself schooled.

Get off the playground. Such taunts are for third graders, not debate. You make inane comments like Lincoln founded the GOP prepared to get called on it.
