C&C universe civs

Speaking of adding stuff just how do we package this once it's done? I mean, I've newer made a new complete civ to a game. Is it like a module or something?

If so, do sounds work with that?

As for sounds I've not worked with those yet so I don't know how. But how hard can it be? I'll take a look at them when I get the chance.
Sounds are tricky but solvable. You can leave that part to me.

What's the trick? Also is it vanilla compatible?

Also I'll give the sounds a listen just in case simply because I am cautious when it comes to C&C3 units. Some of those are too GLA for my tastes.


And yes, in case anyone was wondering I do intend to go backward in time and also try and make pre modern NOD units. Think black knights and black clad spearmen with a scorpion on their shield type of stuff. So if your mod has any extra units not in the original CIV4 roster that need filling do mention those.

Ideally just list all the units in general that would be needed and underline or bold or something your special ones vs vanilla ones. Just so that I can get a feel for the era relationships properly.

What if someone is literally using this with unmoded civ? Although I guess you can't really. Modules only work with mods. So he'd at least be using BUG or something. God it's been a decade since I actually played without mods. I don't know how that works any more. :lol:
 
Either way, since you have a knack for finding sounds do you think you could find me the audio for Tiberium sun laser turret and obelisk of light?
 
I hope these are the ones you need.
.aud files are extracted from the game, .wav files are converted from them. I hope they are the same quality.

Thanks. Basically if we can do custom sounds than I can include these for various custom units. Like say if I ever get to making NOD warships the only reasonable weapon for them would be battleship sized lasers after all.
 
I just heard the unit sounds and agree with them. You picked them good. Now I just need to finish up my artwork.

Just a random idea: Are you planning to add Nod's triangle-scorpion-sting to the shield or something else?

Yes I am. But I am currently working on that truck of yours as well as a couple units without shields. Although to be honest my plan was more along the lines of having the actual nod emblem of a red scorpion on a black background or the other way around.
 
Okay, I just wanted to share this idea now before I forgot it. :)
I just thought, that the actual Nod symbol is a very modern logo and I would expect a different look on ancient units.
But after a second thought there are other modern civs' logos appearing on their shields... so... I don't mind. It's your call.
 
Speaking of flags. I am getting a strange bug with mine. This is the decal I am working with and it is transparent and everything. But in game the teamcolor does not show and instead the whole flag is black. What's the deal with that?

In case you were wondering since I am working off Holy Rome as the base the color is supposed to be bright yellow. I deliberately chose that since it would show through and notify me if I made a mistake with the black and yellow NOD models.


Also, the reason why I'll use the modern emblem is not thematic but practical. Long story short if I use the same flag for everything I can make use of the TFlagGloss shader to stencil it onto units. Which means that the units are going to get a nice and high res NOD flag instead of what ever crushed up tiny thing I can crush into a 128x128 texture along with everything else for that unit.

That's why I went with it. The teamflag setup basically lets me use a 128x128px texture for the logo instead of a hyper compressed blob of a thing it'd be otherwise.

Also, I hope that my deliberate attempts at making the units look not just like black clad medieval troops but like the actual ancestors in terms of shape and aesthetics to the modern ones paid off.
 
No idea yet. I am basically doing these units as I go along and get inspired.

And honestly lately I've been very down and uninspired. Like I have a truck model 95% done and just can't bring my self to finish it on account of being down.

Do you feel like your forcing yourself to do this at the current moment? When I get writer's block that is usually the reason I can't tap into my creativity and I don't feel it.
It's more like a complete lack of motivation to do anything. I think work is just exhausting me.
