First of all thank you for your work Acularius! I really like 5 civilization map, but I have problem on it, from the begining of the game everyone contacts everyone. What can I do with it? I tried normal scenario, custom scenario, custom scenario with NO minor civilization - same result, everyone is in contact with everyone
And can I play this map with 3gb RAM? :-S
I would also suggest to remove that american civilization from north america (its presense in game makes no sense for me, it didn't had any historical importance). Instead you should add Celts in Europe. Let me explain why it would be better
1. We have 2 asian, 2 american, 1 middle eastern, 1 african and NO european civilization in game now
After the change you will get - 2 asian, and one representative for every other culture (India and China both are important - we can't eliminate one of them)
2. It will make Mayans more isolated and when the New World will be discovered civilizations there (maya + new emerged ones) will be more backward just as it is supposed to be
3. One of the first religions which is found in game is Druidism - so we must have Celts in order for them to claim their religion
4. I am not sure, but I may be right - lets say there is a barbarian city somewhere in europe and they emerge as a new civilization. Will they be infuenced that Celts are the closest civilization and emerge as one of european civilizations just because celts are european? (Same it other cases)
Of course we can not make 100% accurate historic game (only Rhye could do

), but at least we can try to make more balanced and cute start.
Well, I did give valid reasons for my map.
I don't mind making other starts, now that I've gotten the hang of it, at least blank start scenarios.
The Pre Columbian civs are essentially just missing the Dutch and the Americans.
I am considering one more start, that starts them further back than pre columbian.
At the moment, I want to tweak up the map some more (more accurate reefs) although I'm tempted to wait for V21 with the new terrain changes (Temperate, tropical and something else that I can't remember off the top of my head.

)
Preferably, I would rather the religion be founded in its more or less historical area rather than by the tribes that settle them (although I can't do anything about Australia's apparent super technological growth in my current game due to its isolation from the angry world around it) seeing as culture is dealt more with our base culture such as European and the area you start in.... The English built the Minoan culture for example in my game. I would rather that the Greeks would do this.
Essentially, I do worry about religion, but its more of a tertiary concern. Map being primary and the culture being secondary.
Either way, not done with this yet, much more to do and I've enjoyed doing it so far, even with the little frustrations its given me.
Personally, I did like Rhy's mod, unfortunately this kind of debate rages on in Paradox Interactive forums quite a bit about Historical accuracy, plausibility, and playability. I tend to join the last 2 camps, most of the time plausibility. Seeing as we are starting in 12000 BC I would like to think that human history wasn't set in stone just yet (no pun intended).
This is easily up for discussion though, I just like getting feedback on the map.
You should be able to play it on your computer, but don't be surprised for MAF in your later game. Turn off autosave and save regularily and you should be somewhat okay.
As for the problem with everyone in contect with everyone else, did you download the map from the #101 post of this topic, that was the last I posted and I swear I had that problem fixed XD
Code:
BeginPlayer
Team=0
LeaderType=LEADER_SALADIN
CivType=CIVILIZATION_ARABIA
PlayableCiv=1
[B]MinorNationStatus=0[/B]
StartingGold=0
StartingX=45, StartingY=38
RandomStartLocation=false
Just open up the text document for the maps, and check this out, this is the best way for me to check since I did this fix in one big update.
Essentially, use notepad on the scenario maps, find 'beginplayer' and tell me what the number is associated with
MinorNationStatus= is, if it isn't 0, like I have above then you have an older version that had MANY problems that I was fixing. XD

Post 101, is the latest version.
As for the natives in North America, I am Canadian, and by the education system around here, hold enough importance in the game and they are 'Pre Columbian' all said and done. That, and I wanted them in to fill up the barren north.

They can share in the misery of the Canadian winter.
