In case it matters, it was a multiplayer game.

It matters. Multiplayer has a maximum of 8 players. Probably has something to do with game performance. I know a multiplayer game with 8 players on a huge map use a LAN and fast computers can even become very slow in the industrial age and later (waiting 10 minutes between turns).

Second q: I wish to revise some of the map features in the scenario, but I can't seem to find an editor that will recognize the file -- neither the vanilla civ editor nor the conquests editor will recognize it. I have been unable to find a PTW editor on the conquests cd (I do not have the original ptw -- only the included files on conquests). Is there someway of altering the scenario, or am I locked out? Thanx in advance.

I heard it was possible to change an old PTW scenario to a C3C scenario, but I don't know how. What happens if you start the C3C editor and then try to load this scenario?

thanx for the tip on the mp (this was my first mp game -- i didn't plan on getting to the modern era! ;) )

i can't load it from within the c3c editor -- the program won't even recognize the file.

You could try and ask it in creation and customization, if you don't get a response here. There the experts in this field reside.

There is no PTW editor on the Conquests CD. However, I think I read some where is these threads that you can down load the PTW editor. Unfortunately, I do not remember where.

We need some Help here.

I was wanting to find a page where it has all of the civs with their traits listed, and possibly which techs they get free.
thx

Here you go:
http://www.civfanatics.com/civ3/cia/index.shtml(click on the leaderheads)

Not sure if the trait changes have been listed, e.g. vanilla-Iros are rel/exp and C3C-Iros are agr/com etc.

Free techs at game start: that depends on the traits - commercial civs get alphabet, industrious get masonry etc
If both traits give the same tech, civ gets another free tech, of course.

Can volcanos destroy cities if they are built in the surrounding 8 tiles?

If yes, is it destroyed automatically if the 'lava' hits it, or is there a chance it survives?

1 last question: Is the Volcano erruption rate tied to years or turns? i.e. does the chance of erruption per turn deminish as the game progresses?

Edit: If you haven't guessed I am trying to work out if I should found next to a volcano on a good site or move 1 tile to a much worse site.

It's in the editor, under 'Scenario Properties'. About 2/3rds of the way down, on the far right hand side. 'Retain Culture on Capture'.

another question about volcanos:
Somewhere in the C3C readme is stated that "volcanic erruptions (and plagues) won't happen in MP games". So I did not bother to settle near a volcano in PBEM games.
But strangely, I've recently seen a volcanic erruption (which also caused pollution, no city nearby though) in a PBEM... [:ack:]
What gives? Is the readme not true or do those rules only apply to direct connection MP games?

can the volcano kill units that are in the way of the lava? does any naval ship have lethal bombard? can ships shoot down air craft? can nukes eradicate cities? thanks in advance

Volcanos can toast units, ships with "Air Defense Strength"-value can shoot down aircraft (e.g. destroyers; if set, ADS should be stated in the pedia for each vessel), nukes cannot eradicate cities.

The Byzantine Dromon has lethal sea bombard. I'm pretty sure that's the only one.

The civilopedia says that sugar is avaliable on plains and hills, I´ve never seen sugar on hills in my 30+ games, has anyone ever seen sugar on hills? Maybe it´s just in the conquests-games? haven´t played any of those yet :D

I'll second that, never seen any sugar on hills. Would be nice to see some though:king:

Well I checked in the editor and hills CAN have sugar and tobacco as bonus resources. They must be a rare occurence nonetheless. Has anyone actually had a game where hills had tobacco or sugar?

Thanks for replies.

I too have occasionally seen sugar on hills.

BTW I *THINK* I've seen scouts survive volcanic explosions. Is it possible there's a survival chance? Or that units are in fact actually *NOT* affected by explosions, at least if they are not in a city?

USC

I don't think so... but the 'lava' takes a turn or so to spread.. so, maybe they just moved on that tile the turn after?
