C3C PBEM : Rise of Rome - scenario-based PBEM

New turn started (50 AD).

Powerful Egypt has slightly less than 1/3 of Roman population but less than a fourth of its territory. Can (and will !) do better !

A quick memo to the so-called ruler of the Carthaginians:

Workers make really, really poor coastal guard units. Why, 3 of them volunteered to join the Roman empire as soon as we set foot on Sardinia again, without us even drawing our swords!

P.S. for everyone: I had just noticed that workers don't stop non-amphibious military units from landing on their squares in this scenario (when I was playing this as the Persians in self-play), unlike in th epic game. Does other scenarios allow this? I didn't even know it was an option in the editor???

No, these are the default C3C-1.22 rules. Non-combat units cannot prevent unloading your military from the ship. The AI is just stupid enough so that he does not know about this and does not use this. But this is normal in C3C.

Yeah, but this is my first 1.22 game so it was new to me.. rather messed up stuff for me, but oh well.

Here's Rome again attacking with some obscene stack numbering approximately 100(!) units including one settler to drive a wedge in between my defenses. Targets have been softened but not eliminated.

New turn started

I prepared to attach a picture showing the might of the Egyptian nany. But I just could not find any :-(
I start to believe there should be a limit to the number of units you can put on the same square.

Yes, I would like that. It would also make a lot of sense from a realism point of view, although that is of course not the primary concern of the game.

Right, I just also meant from a gameplay perspective (realism or not) - it makes things less exciting when the wars take place in terms of single stacks of death rather than more widespread attacks on several fronts.

Yeah...right. Like you have cause to complain. Everytime I do an aggressive move in Spain, you kill over 50 of my units with almost no loss to yourself. Big stacks cuts both ways, you know!

@ironduck: You can assemble your own SOD and try go raze Rome meanwhile. Just wondering will 100 units there be enough.

I've also lost about 50 units to Persia in a couple of turns and had to retreat. :)

Um, excuse me? When did I complain exactly? I just said that it would be better from a gameplay as well as realism perspective if there was a limit to stack sizes.
