C3C PBEM : Rise of Rome - scenario-based PBEM

I didn't biuld that huge military just to abandon my cities when you come.

OK, it has been started. Turn sent to Persia and SoD moved to Herat. However, there might be a problem with that since I guess the SoD has too many units. I was unable to scroll down to the end of the stack to see the control menu neither did I keep track of how many units were moved there. I hope there are more experienced players who know if some of these units will be lost during saving of the game. If yes, it might be needed to replay the turn probably. IIRC, game allows about 255 units on a single tile but I'm not sure. May be less, may be more.

It might be a unique situation. The largest SoDs encountered by Sid level players in case of AI do not exceed 100-120 units iirc. Here is certainly more.

Okay here is what you all have been waiting for probably:

Killed:
Heavy Cavalry - 128
Hoplites - 44

Lost:
Heavy Cavalry - 42

Still hold their ground:
4 Fire Catapults
32 Heavy Cavalry (mostly injured)
48 Heavy Cavalry (4/4)
2 Hoplites (injured)
1 Settler
1 Swordsman

We are proud to announce that Persia has 5 armies of HC in the field led by fearless persian generals: Achaemenes, Xerxes, Cyrus, Antiochius and the heir to the throne Darius.

P.S. Sorry no worthwhile screenshots since most units were on 1 tile :) (both persian and macedon) and if the would be any they would be highly classified anyway since the battle is not over.

Edit: In case anyone is wondering the total numbers of persian army befrore this turn were ~250 Heavy Cavalry (including those in the armies)

Minor battle with a Roman fleet in the war infested territory, sunk 4 dinghies I think.. The remains of the Roman army from last turn scrambled back to their strongholds, but destroyed the road so I couldn't go after them..

turn for loulong

New turn started.

The funny side of this epic battle is that the losses show on Macedonian powergraph and that mecchanically, mine 'small Egypt) is rising ! lol

The most funny thing is that my military advisor is still saying that compared to these guys our military is weak

Considering the numbers you mentioned I wonder if Macedon lost some units due to a game bug (255 max on the tile) over the turn.. akots let us know?

I have to look at the file to make sure. It might be a few units were lost since the number is close to 255 (actually 260). For this purpose I would also like to ask for permission to load the previous turn. No action will be taken, just need to record the troop numbers.

So, Persia is down to about 200 HC or so and Macedon to about same but Macedon also has a bunch of hoplites scattered over the map and rather large bunch. I have not yet got the save though.

Yikes! That was one titanic battle. And here I thought the Romans and Carths had large stacks moving around...

All Macedonian units have survived the save game process surprisingly well. The battle is in progress. Two Persian armies has been eliminated, many troops severely wounded and siege of Herat will continue to the end. Macedon knocked down the walls of the city with catapuls, killed about 38 HC (+/- one or two) and one NM. Cyrus and Achaemenes were killed in the process as well but Xerxes somehow survived. Wounded Macedonian troops retreated to heal and reinforcements took their place. Don't know how it will turn out but it is fun so far.

Oh well at least they died as heroes defending their country :(

I will play my turn as soon as I get back from work.

Yeah, I've never had that many units in a game I think ;)

But remember, they've spent half the game saving up their troops, so not too surprising they have some bloated stacks floating about ;)

I beg for a screenie of some kind :scan: of the great battle. :goodjob:

The screenie does not actually exists because the list of units does not fit onto screen when right-clicked and cannot be even scrolled to the end. And so far the surrounding area is still highly classified. I would rate the chances as more or less even except that Persian units might be able to heal faster and retreat more comfortably whereas Macedon has a more steady flow of reinforcements. If Macedon can keep the reinforcements up and running, Herat will fall. If macedon will be unable to do this, Herat will stand and Persia will be able to counterattack, may be even capture a few cities near the border.
