C3C PBEM : Rise of Rome - scenario-based PBEM

Congrats, Random Fan! Who would've believed it, considering how fast the Persians were sliding downhill before you took over.

@Akots--- I must confess to seriously considering a back attack on you and breaking the truce. I might have (have had) a shot at winning this thing outright, rather than cruising to a histographic victory. It would have been a gamble getting the population limit, and if you razed your cities instead of me conquering them, it would have be highly problematic to gain the population goal.
But I decided that my reputation (in the PBEM community) is more valuable than a gamble in any single game.
*Especially considering we are in "agreements" in several other PBEMs at the moment!

Hey people let's not finish this one in so boring way. Everyone has put too much effort and time to end this game like that. We need a decent blood bath in which everyone participates for this one to pay off :)

@Rubberjello Thanks man, if not you and Ironduck supplying me with free techs I doubt I would make it so far :goodjob:

It's quite remarkable that all the empires are standing after all this time - I thought Rome and Macedon would either be left standing or take on each other and one of them be wiped out through the assistance of allies.

Btw, how do I unsubscribe from threads? I keep getting updates to irrelevant threads even though I'm not visiting them.

Thanks ironduck  . If you did not do that wouldn't you be able to fend
off an invasion anyway? :scan: PM me if you think you may be giving away
secrets! :thanx: again for the screenie! :goodjob:

Rome has been 'strong' compared to me for the past 60 turns or more, and given that they probably produce twice as much as I do my guess is they have 3-4 times the millitary I have. So I doubt I could fend off a full-blown invasion :)

Given that fact I'm still quite happy I managed to make them burn down their own capital :D

Is there no place for them to land, even far away from your core? :scan:

"burn down their own capital" What was the deal there?

Didn't you see? Back on page 18 I invaded the heartland :)

I shall not divulge regarding possible landing sites ;)

I missed it  - I will have to look back :coffee: ! I understand about
divulging ;) , no problem. I'll get back to comments after I lurk :D .

I see now :goodjob: . It took me awhile b/c I see the post in order of last-
to-first and looked through most of the thread to find it  .
Did you just evacuate after the invasion or what? :scan: Any chance of
hitting them again, maybe in Spain? Thanks for your info!

New turn started

BTW I got a message from the guy running the gotm. The files were indeed very corrupt but there is no evidence of cheating, at least by the stable save editors usually used (such as Gramphos multi-tool).
If there ever was, we can hope this stopped now (as I don't want to have to check the saves for obvious distortions).

From what I saw as well, the saves were corrupted after ironduck sent to LouLong.

IIRC someone else (in a PBEM) couldn't email saves for a while without them getting corrupted, something to do with their ISP. So, a dodgy mail server could also be at fault.

Ahh.. a dodgy mail server.. I suggested trying to zip them earlier but that probably won't help. I could upload them to here instead though, that should fix the problem.

Thanks for all your help, Anarres! We appreciate it! :goodjob:
Despite the fact that many people slam Yahoo. I'm still really happy using them...

Yes, thanks for looking into it Anarres :)

I could never figure out how to use yahoo.. I'm fine with uploading the files here anyway so if needed I'll try that.

This may be essentially "cured" by zipping the save apparently.
