Military Action

Naval battle off the coast of Saigon. The submarine SS Storm was lost attacking the battleship BB Haruna which had been damaged in an earlier action. However the destroyer DD Teredos managed to sink the giant sustaining heavy damage and is now returning to port with the newly elite DD Enounter which had also been damaged previously.

The airforce lost 1 bomber and a fighter attacking a rubber plantation near Saigon. Japan still has access to the resource.
These aircraft were going to be used in Operation No Smell where supplies of wooden pegs were to have been air dropped to troops on the ground.

The war in China has heated up. 2 Japanese infantry armies are on the doorstep of Hangkow as well as tanks and infantry. Japan is laying siege and seems determined to take it following up on their successful capture of Foochow. China made them pay dearly by destroying an army and some infantry divisions. Chinese communist and Kuomintang forces have joined together to drive the Japanese imperialist aggressors into the sea. We should be able to easily exterminate Mao's communist forces once we have dealt with the Japanese menace.

Spartaca,
Supreme commander of Chinese Nationalist forces.

The Imperial Japanese Forces mourn the suicide of General Herro-Kitty, formerly in command of the Chinese campaign. General Herro-Kitty took his own life rather than face the shame of admitting he'd underestimated the strength of the Chinese forces.

In light of this development, the Emperor has asked General Yamamoto to take charge of the entire Japanese war effort, in the hope of ensuring a more integrated approach.

Field Report - February, 1942

Chinese campaign

Hankow was bombed repeatedly. Japan lost one bomber and one fighter in the process of wearing Chinese troops down. Japan attacked with light tanks, infantry and an army of infantry. The city was worn down significantly and many Chinese infantry were killed, however the onslaught failed to capture Hankow.

Artillery shelled two Chinese infantry protecting the road to Kunming, and wore them down. Japanese infantry attacked and killed them. Japan lost one infantry unit.

Commonwealth campaign

Japan bombed and attacked the Commonwealth stack entering Japanese territory from Rangoon. Two Japanese bombers were shot down. The Commonwealth stack was destroyed, it had three infantry, two flaks and two artillery (which were captured).

Japan also bombed the intruding units near Bhuket.

USA

The Japanese Navy destroyed an American submarine near Davao, then shelled Davao. Davao was taken with Marines, who killed two USA infantry and some naval units.

Destroyed another Japanese army at Hangkow. Who will take over for General Yamamoto now? Japan is massing for another attack but we will continue to resist to the death. Meanwhile another Japanese invasion force approaches Kunming. We are preparing a special welcome for them as well.

EXTRA, EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT, GEORGE BUSH THE HERO, EXTRA!!!

AP:

George Herbert Walker Bush of Milton, Mass was picked up drifting in the Pacific ocean yesterday by an american submarine. Mr. Bush is the youngest commisoned pilot in American history and has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. The Pentagon has related to us that Mr. Bush took out at least 11 of the inferior japanese zero's before his own plane was damaged beyond repair. We have been imformed by the military that Mr. Bush then jumped out of his plane onto a Japanese zero, punched bare fist through the windshield, and dropped kicked the japanese pilot into the pacific before taking out another 3 enemy planes, having done his duty Mr. Bush then parachuted to saftey. When asked how he felt about the matter Mr. Bush replied, "Read my lips, we will beat those Japs!" Indeed, as long as brave men like George Bush are on our side how can we lose.

Incredibly, General Yamamotos drive into China continues to be effectively resisted. In an hour of desperate soul-searching, Yamamoto sought personal audience with the Emperor. He asked if perhaps these Chinese are not quite as inferior as previously thought. The Emperor assured General Yamamoto they are quite inferior and that victory is certain. This made Yamamoto feel much better.

Field Report, March 1942

China

Japan shelled and bombed Hankow. We lost one bomber to AA fire. There seemed no limit to the number of Chinese infantry and tanks defending the city. Many were destroyed, perhaps in the region of 15 units in total, yet still Hankow did not fall. The Chinese have obviously been conscripting their people into military service, as was evident by the huge number of green troops defending Hankow. Japanese losses attacking Hankow this month amounted to about 8 units – infantry and light tanks.

Kunming was also bombed.

Commonwealth

Commonwealth troops invading Bangkok were attacked. A Commonwealth interceptor was shot down by a Japanese bomber near Bhuket. Japan lost two bombers in the attacks, unacceptable losses considering the trivial nature of the campaign.

hey guys, finished my turn, sorry it took a day, had some grad school interviews yesterday.

again no battles to report, the japanese have forgotten about me it seems

That's okay. We'll remind them soon enough...

Jack "No I didn't."
Dave "Yeah my brother in Darwin recons he can see the smoke"
Jack "Sounds a bit far fetched"
Dave "Don't know ... anyway to us givin' the Japs a good kickin"
Jack "Cheers"
They clink glasses and scull the amber fluid down.

News at Home

Commonwealth civilians have dug deep into their pockets donating huge amounts of money which will be sent to support allied war efforts in China.

The Women's Land Army has been formed resulting in the fairer sex now taking over agricultural and industry jobs allowing the Commonwealth's men folk to join the fight against the dreaded Yellow Peril. :salute:

Military Action

Combined air and sea bombardment of strategic resource near Saigon successful with fire raging out of control in the oil fields. This must be considered the turning point in the mainland war, as Japan now has no access to this vital resource, this of course will severely affect Japan's production capability.

Reported sighting of enemy submarine activity NW off the coast of Truk. Commonwealth SS Tireless engaged the raider, badly damaging the enemy sub(redline) before all contact was lost. Last transmission indicated taking severe damage from counter attack and abandon ship order issued, captain and crew are officially listed as MIA.

Operation Bangkok Liberation continues with ground units from Rangoon and Bhuket both on the outskirts of the city. Air and land bombardment have damaged the defending Japanese forces. It is anticipated that full assault will commence very soon. :D
