There aren't any singularity cannons or death-ray zorchers in TF2. And that still doesn't qualify CoD to be realistic, its too "arcadey" to be even close.
The closest it has is bullet penetration.
EDIT: I hate those jelly blood screens and, even worse, exploding cars.
Mini-necro - I just picked this game up recently, and actually got pretty interested in the multiplayer (which is unusual for me with realistic FPS games). Anyone still playing?

Wait, where are those in CoD multiplayer? Or is there a single-player or coop mode on TF2 I'm missing?
No, he's comparing two different game modes. SuperJay was comparing the competitive multiplayer modes of said games.
I just find it iffy to compare different game modes (which you implicitly did. To my knowledge, there are no "singularity cannons or death-ray zorchers" in CoD's competitive multiplayer).
Those are (hypothetical and exaggerated) weapons not gamemodes.
I can't tell if your trying to insult me, but I was rhetorically asking whether those unrealistic weapons were in CoD's competitive multiplayer game modes (i.e. every game mode other than zombies and single-player).
SuperJay said that CoD seemed "realistic" compared to other games because its guns are based on real weapons and not made up ones.
SS-18 ICBM said:Now, for a more pleasant subject (I hope). Anyone playing here who got the map pack? If yes, are the maps fun?
Close enough, its a silly argument anywayAlright, you were comparing the games as a whole. I still find it unsuitable to compare features of games using different modes for each one.
Sorry for the crabbiness. Never a good idea to posting while annoyed by other things.
If that is your definition of realistic then where do you place games like Operation Flashpoint, ARMA and Red Orchestra? CoD and MoH are unrealistic in many ways, they aren't over the top but they aren't far away. For example, the knifing people from 5 feet away as you run by on a super speed perk in CoD. The battlefield games aren't much more realistic, but at least they put some effort into destructible terrain and bullet drop (but of course still have them chest paddles to revive the dead, which is fine for those games).I divide FPS games into two basic categories: "realistic" and "over-the-top." In the realistic camp, I put games like COD, MOH, BFBC2, etc. In the over-the-top category go games like Unreal Tournament, Bulletstorm, or TF2.
I am not interpreting it as literally as possible, otherwise I'd never be able to apply it to a game. Neither did you try to correct or even debate it, you went straight to being condescending and insulting.PrinceScamp then decided to take the word "realistic" and interpret it as literally as possible, despite my attempt to correct the misunderstanding.
My reply about them not being in TF2 wasn't entirely serious eitherMy comment about singularity cannons and death-ray zorchers was a joke.
Some, but nothing about a spaceman.Didn't you guys ever read Calvin & Hobbes? I can't believe nobody else remembers Spaceman Spiff.![]()

My point is they don't qualify as "realistic" and of course neither are they as over the top as TF2 or UT, rather they are somewhere in-between.
