There probably has to be a reason for this, and I bet other people might have experienced something similar, but it has to do with the internal/biological clock...

For the past few months, at least a few times a week (sometimes two times a day), when I glance at my clock on the microwave, computer, or car, I always glance at the time when the time is #:11. It almost always is an hour and eleven minutes. 80%ish percent of the time it is either 9:11am or 9:11pm. That's crazy because last night I just randomly glanced and it was 9:11... and just now I glanced again totally randomly and it was 9:11am.
Sometimes in the afternoons I glance at either 3:11 or 4:11... but the glance is totally subconscious, I don't even think about it.
It's just really weird. :crazyeye:

It's not that you're looking at the clock at specific times, you're noticing that you're looking at the clock at specific times.

Let me draw your attention to the word Rutabega. Now that I've drawn your attention to it, you're likely to notice this word in the next 3 days. It's not that I caused this word to occur again, just drawn your attention to the word. Rutabega.

Anyway, I have that clock-problem too! I notice 9:11 quite often.

My biological clock told me it was time to reproduce. So I took it to a clock shop and had them turn it back. Now it's like I'm fifteen again!

9 11? That's ok, most likely a ghost of one of those who died in the twin tower attacks is currently living with you :mischief:

But to provide a more serious answer: I do not think that El Machinae's explanation has to be true, although i suppose it could; depends on the personality. I frequently notice the hour when it is X:XX (eg 3.33, 4.44 etc). I think that of course there is no reason at all why there are not individual routines going on in the subconscious which easily can compute at what time such a look at the clock would give this outcome; afterall the human mind is obviously capable of near-infinitely more complicated procedures than that :)

I think what El Mac said is true. :)

I have a tendency of waking up exactly when I want to. For example: I should get up at about 6:15 AM. I go to sleep, and then exactly when the clock shows 6:15 I wake up.

Hehe, Civrules, I have the exact same thing. 11:11 (Call pizza pizza, hey hey hey!) 9:11, and some others. It's weird.

I have a weird thing where, no matter what time I go to sleep, or where I am sleeping, I will wake up at 8:27 - three minutes before my alarm would go off. It is so cool.

I also wake up bout 4 minutes before my clock. It annoys me because I know of the impending doom. :(

I do the same thing (2 minutes before), and I wonder if the alarm clock might be making some subtle sound as it charges some capacitor, or whatever, in anticipation of sounding the alarm. And some Pavlovian-conditioned part of my brain hears the subtle sound, and I wake up.

Or maybe my biological clock just runs 2 minutes fast.

Yeah, you look at the clocl loads, but only remeber it now cos ur thinknig about that time more than others/

That happens to me all the time - especially 9:11pm. (if you're thinking it's because of 9/11, it's not - it's happened when I was a kid, too)

If I want to wake up at 8:52 in the morning I can without setting an alarm. I've been able to do it for years. Its like I have my own personal alarm clock in my head.

It doesn't have to be 8:52 either, any time I want.
