Capto Iugulum: Empires and Nations

We will not withdraw the blockade until the Polish army withdraws from Siam.

To: Poland
We asked you many times (on the thread) to remove your self from Siam, you failed to do so, so we took the actions into our own hands. We will not repay you for the ships we sunk, withdraw from Siam.

To: Paris-Burgundy, Italy, All Concerned Parties

Although We support the Italian peoples right to self determination, we need not to start another war over Italy. Both sides must be willing to compromise to ensure that this situation does multiply and engulf Europe in a war.

Don't blame us for your problems. You have no evidence of these accusations, and believe us, we are not pleased with the incursions over your borders. However, this is all as a result of your inability to police your own territory.

Your sloppiness and complete and total failure to keep control of the Yucatan is resulting in the porous border and these attacks, not New Spain. Get your own house in order before you accuse others of acting in bad faith.

Oh, then it was just LoE.

Well this certainly sucks.

I believe this qualifies as the most half-hearted excuse in European history. Savoy-Milan adding a few territories to our kingdom (willingly I add) and changing our name does not give you the right to weasel our of a binding NAP. When Paris and Burgundy united, did all the treaties each state signed suddenly become null and void? No. Your attempt to justify your hostile stance is an easily seen farce. Should Paris-Burgundy take military action against the Kingdom of Italy it will simply reveal to the world you're treachery and that you are not to be trusted in any sort of diplomatic dealings in the future.

Your blantant refusal to abide by a binding treaty signed just last year clearly shows your treachery to the world. We wish for nothing more than peace in Italy, yet you seem to be willing to go to war at any cost. We sincerely hope that the rest of Europe learns the lesson that we have, that any agreement signed with Austria is utterly worthless, as they feel they are above such things as treaties.

Tuscany should be able to join this Kingdom of Italy as it is a lawful action (considering it is the legal and only government's choice), but that the "Roman Republic" should not, for it is an illegitimate government. Stop impeding justice, and accept what is essentially a compromise.

Whatever you may believe, the problems with the Mayans are becoming your problem, too, since it is your weaponry they are stealing. However, given that at no moment your soldiers have answered the robberies, it either shows that your army is among the sloppiest in the world, or that you are acting in bad faith and probably even criminal intent by allowing the Mayan rebels free reign in your country.

Perhaps, if you were to act decisively in preventing the Mayans from stealing your weaponry, both your problems and ours would end. Of course, if you want us to help you with your problems, our soldiers are perfectly willing to persecute the Mayan rebels into New Spain without any problem.

To Savoy-Milan
From Paris and Burgundy

The very reason why we could add Burgundy to our domains is because no-one else was in charge there and the regency of the rightful government of that country asked us to take over. In your case, both the regions you have taken over have other people who are in charge, and with whose governments - at least in the case of the Papacy - you signed NAPs. You signed an NAP with the Pope, not with the Roman people, and now you are appropriating his territory into your own kingdom. This is illegal and immoral behaviour.

OOC: EQ, I'm just craving to wargame all these awesome battles. I may have to start making paper miniatures so I can get the chance to fight them myself (no way I'm spending an arm and a leg for actual miniatures for alt-historical). Once again, another fantastic update.

OOC: Dejavous. There was this time where a nation slipped out of a peace treaty commitment by changing its name from the Kingdom of Spain to the United Empire of Iberia. I think it was in a LOE NES.

It really depends if the NAP is signed to the government of Savoy-Milan, in which case it still holds, or the state of Savoy-Milan, in which case it wouldn't.

Lukers Comment: That nation was the Norse Kingdom in LOE's NES, run by Germanicus, who made an agreement with my nation, Iberia. He changed his nations name to the Norse Empire, and thought that absolved him from all treaties.

Should you not release Tuscany and the Papal States from your grip immediately, we will bring back the legitimate rulers back to those lands. Your sleazy attempts at getting your enemies in the last Venetian War to enter NAPs with you and the nations whose governments you corrupted have failed. Call off your dogs in the Brothers of Italy or have war with Hungary.

First you stand as a bastion to dreaded liberalism and republicanism, now you openly support the bastardized puppet government set up in Tuscany. We are very concerned with Poland's new-found acceptance of the demons they only just fought.

Wait, never mind, due to [me forgetting], we just realized that Tuscany is now a republic and should be treated as crazy. Sorry for the confusion.

We would like to make the evacuation of your soldiers from southern India as smooth as possible. Thus, we wish for our generals in India to meet with yours in order to ascertain the timetable by which Spanish authority will replace British and Portuguese authority in those places. Would that be possible?

To: The Catholic World
From: Pope Leo XIII

It has become apparent that the threats of liberalism and republicanism are vast and dire, and the kings of Europe must unite to face this threat. I point out the great successes of the most holy of empires, Spain. They have resisted falling to the insidious tool of Satan that is the republican threat. Then we have the most noble King of Poland, who undertook to prevent the Beast from gaining control in Hungary. Therefore, I call upon all truly dedicated kings of the Christian lands to take up arms and do what they must to free the holy center of Christianity from these barbarians and then take the fight to extinguish the last lights of the republican scourge.

TO: Catholic World
FROM: Pedro II, Emperor of the Brazilians, Defender of Liberty

Such anti-democratic propaganda is the tool of Satan. Our duty to our church and to the holy see must not blind us to the truths of this world. Our Lord spoke of liberty in his days walking these lands, of kinship between man and of freedom from oppression. The right to vote, to have your voice heard by those that do you wrong, is what our savior spoke of on the mount. Aiding thy neighbor in friendship and cooperation, building a better Christian world with our brothers in faith. How can a man usurp power from the children of God when he knows these truths? Men have the right to speak out of crimes against them. Princes have the duty to listen.
