Capto Iugulum

Although we accept that Brandenburg has the right to ally with any other nation, as it is their prerrogative as an independent nation, we cannot help but be worried by Brandenburg's entrance in the Krakow Pact, especially after the recent attacks on the legal government of Pommerania and Brandenburg's all but directly stated role in them. We are essentially opposed to the formation of a German nation, as this would clearly destroy the balance of power that currently exists in Europe and that is carefully kept in check by all nations therein. We do know that the Krakow Pact is, essentially, a defensive pact, but we cannot help but fear that Brandenburg may use this alliance as a means to force an annexation of Pommerania and then initiate a world war that may eventually allow them to keep the Pommeranian people unwillingly tied to them.

Thus, we would like to ask the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, as well as all other members of the Krakow Pact, to keep Brandenburg in check so that they may not use their current alliance as a platform to initiate their forceful annexation of Pommerania, which would more than probably provoke an answer from other nations, igniting a great war that will only help to destroy Europe.

We would also like to ask all other nations of Europe, you who clearly do not desire that a war starts, to join behind this petition so prevent Brandenburg from destroying the balance of power.

Resolved by the Parliament of the Confederation

Signed, King Joseph of Paris and Burgundy, and by the other Kings of the Franco-Burgundian Confederation
Signed, comte de Dillon, President of the Council of Ministers of the Franco-Burgundian Confederation
Signed, duc de Vizelle, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Franco-Burgundian Confederation
Signed by twenty other plenipotentiaries of the Parliament of the Confederation

The Confederation would like to add that if Brandenburg acts in any material way in favour of German nationalism the Triple Alliance will immediately act to defend our allies and our territory, according to our former principles, and our resolution to act remains unchanged.

We would like to point out to Britain that the Triple Alliance are more powerful as enemies - if that is the direction in which your alliance is intended to head us - than Brandenburg is as an ally, and we think you ought to have realised that.

Treaty of Peking

1. If Japan attacks Russia, or the single defensive unit of French, Dutch and Danish China, or Scandinavian China, then both Russia and the Franco-Burgundian Confederation will declare war on Japan.

2. If Russia wages an offensive war against Japan, this treaty is void.

3. Russia will not sign an alliance with, or send subsidies to, any present or future native Chinese states, particularly that of Shi Au Gau and any of its successors, that are at war with the Franco-Burgundian Confederation at the time.

Signed by the plenipotentiaries of the Parliament of the Confederation

To Japan

We assure you we have no intention of starting any offensive war with you in collaboration with the Russians, and if any such thing happened we would be very much in sympathy with you. Indeed, our intention with this treaty is that it ought to act as a deterrent to any Russian aggression, because if they did anything of the sort they would automatically lose our support.

We applaud your skills in brinksmanship, but think this was hardly the place for them.

Though we feel it would be inappropriate and a violation of neutrality for Flanders to sign the Spanish petition, we implore that all nations show the utmost restraint at this time. The current system of alliances creates a situation where any petty dispute could result in a world war, which would have the potential to cause untold destruction and upheaval. We feel a need to comment on this because a world war would surely affect even those nations not directly involved, including Flanders. So we again beseech all of the nations of the world to act in the most measured and temperate manner in these delicate times.

Though we feel these peace talks are unnecessary (we are not at war and have no intention of starting any hostile action) we will send delegates to Stockholm. We ask that you denounce the false government in place in Turkey right now. We are disappointed that you would interfere in politics in a region you promised to stay out of. We can understand that you did it because you thought we were funding the Sicilian rebellion, but now that you know the truth, we ask that you revoke your support of these false leaders in Turkey.

We do understand your dislike of our position, but right now things may not be reverted. However, it is still possible for the Sultan of Turkey to use diplomatic means by which he may yet return to Konya, by talking it with representatives of the current Turkish government. We are willing to host a conference in the city of Beirut, with an arbitrator of a third nation (perhaps the nation of Netherlands, since they have no actual interests in the region) to ensure that both sides can reach an acceptable agreement.

The problem with that is the current government in Turkey is illegitimate and should not be treated as a real government. The Sultan is the true leader and we believe once he has taken the throne again, it is his right to decide what to do with the rebels.

Though, we will give advice, as a friend of the Sultan, such as to grant the rebels amnesty for their crimes, if they agree to let the Sultan return to power. We just do not believe this should be made into such a world-wide affair, and again, it should be left to the Sultan to handle on his own.

These, and other reasons, are why we suggested that a conference be held in neutral ground between the Sultan and the current government. We will try to get the latter to accept the Sultan back as their sovereign, but to allow that they will need assurances that he will keep his word. Otherwise, the only way for them to let the Sultan back will be that the Roman Empire invade Turkey, and then the only man in Turkey that will not hate the Roman Empire will be the Sultan himself.

The Lotus Pact

The Arabian Empire, The United States of America, and The Japanese Empire have found sufficient commonalities to embark on an endeavor to further their economic and technological interests. In response to these common interests, we proclaim the formation of association by which we may further our economic and technological ties. The members of this pact will pledge to provide other members fair and just tariffs and tax exemptions as needed to promote our collective economic well-being. In addition, each member will collaborate on research projects to further our respective national securities.

That's... one way of looking at things, making alliances in order to cause the maximum annoyance to your neighbours. But you have every right to make whatever purely defensive alliances you like, of course.

Unless you planned aggression against Brandenburg ahead of time, you should have no reason to be opposed to said alliance.
