Capto Iugulum

OOC: Is that actually an OOC question?

IC:

The fact remains that the League has not actually endorsed Russia's position at all, and so the notion that Flanders might be enforcing Russia's will on the League's behalf is wholly fictional.

To Opsikion, Chaldea
From Russia

Now that Kurdistan has shown willingness to negotiate peace, will you attend our summit? As we have state previously, we are not sending troops to aid the Roman Empire in reconquering their lost territory, but instead in hopes of ending the ongoing civil war here, by some arrangement that is agreeable to all the factions. We know full well that to attempt to have a single Imperator rule over the Empire as in days of old are now impossible. We wish only to see the bloodshed and fighting stop.

To Bulgaria
From Russia

The proposed arrangement was merely a suggestion, not a concrete plan. We feel that this can be discussed in greater depth at our summit. However, we feel that some sort of alliance, at least economic, potentially political and military, between the Roman factions is necessary for you all to maintain your regional autonomy.

To Brazil
From Russia

We wonder how many of your South American allies are willing to send ships and men to help end the Flemish threat to Latin American sovereignty? Surely, the great Defender of Liberty will be able to amass more allies than themselves and Britain to once and for all end the clear and present danger Flanders poses to the free people of the world.

As far as we can tell right now, it stands at Brazil bullying a smaller nation and intruding on matters it has no business being involved in and a knee-jerk backing by Great Britain supporting said bullying. We meanwhile, the tyrannical, slavedrivers of the East, have, without deploying a single brainwashed murder-loving soldier, begun to bring stability to a war torn region. So tell us again, how it is we are the evil one in this scenario?

So tell us again, how it is we are the evil one in this scenario?

TO: Russia
FROM: Brazil

You've annexed the Polish, continue to foster serfdom, mass conscript armies from your poor population to stabilize regions that do not wish to be Russians and now, on top of it all, plan on forcing the Bulgarians, Opsikion and Chaldia nations to accept YOUR demands. Russia is a greater threat to the world than any other nation. Brazil is the leader of the free world, and in that role we would never demand of our allies anything. Brazil is more than capable of handling Russia and Flanders if they continue to subjugate peoples that reject them. Our threats to Flanders are straightforward enough and completely justifiable. The Flemish claim to be peacelovers yet they support and will aid militarily the Russian expansion into the fractured Roman Empire? It sounds to us that the Russians have bought themselves a Continent of shaken women, fearing for their lives and wanting your warm fur coat to feel better about the bruises you leave on their body. We see your motions on Finland, in the Balkans and Central Asia, on the Germans and the Poles, the Hungarians and Serbians. If the European tyrants won't defend the people Brazil will. We do not need a massive army to break your empire. We do not need allies to die for us. Liberty is not a thing to be voted away by the corrupted courts of the League, fed by the pockets of the Russians. We will see an end to the Russian threat, so we swear it.

To Brazil
From the Confederation

We thought the League was meant to be the Confederation's personal whacking stick? The fact remains, however, that if there is an ideal way likely to cause the League to line up against you, it has to be wilfully abusing a neutral member whose sovereignty several of us have vowed to protect and whom we have elected as our Chair. If you must attack Russia's actions, do so; however, bringing Flanders into it must miss the point of the exercise even from your own perspective.

If Flanders didn't want to be involved in this atrocious affair, they shouldn't have elected to involve themselves.

If Flanders didn't want to be involved in this atrocious affair, they shouldn't have elected to involve themselves.

Flanders holds no regrets over our involvement in this affair, as none here predicted the gross over reaction by certain nations. In fact we see this incident as having revealed Brazil's true, bloodthirsty nature. Their government seeks war at every opportunity, first against Spain, then Sardinia, then Rome, then our own nation of Flanders. Brazil's words and past actions make one question the sincerity, to say nothing of the veracity, of Spain's forced confession in the Treaty of Madrid. Flanders would direct all nations to look on the other side of the Atlantic for the true culprit behind the Great War, those warmongers who had nothing to lose and everything to gain from a war destroying Europe.

By opting to support the murderous Russian brigands over defenders of peace and democracy, you have opted out of any support from the United Kingdom. Good day.

1. Spain caused civil war in our ally, Colombia.

2. Sardinia attacked our ships without a declaration of war.

3. Rome was believed to have assassinated Admiral Buzatto.

4. Flanders is helping the Russian tyrants.

OOC: You're basically saying America is bloodthirsty for declaring war on Japan for Pearl Harbor.

OOC: I'm not so sure I agree, as Pearl Harbor was without warning, and regardless it serves my IC purposes well enough :p

IC:

To: Brazil, Britain

Further exchanges will only serve to further disrupt the peace, so we will end our part in this international bickering.

Our fleet will block the Strait of Gibraltar this year to prevent Flemish soldiers from entering.

To Brazil
From Russia

To blockade the Straits of Gibraltar would be an act of war against Flanders, Spain, and every other nation on the Mediterranean.

Flanders is free to send ships wherever it so chooses in times of peace, a freedom even "tyrannical" regimes such as Russia know and respect. Any attempt to hinder that is a blatant, unwarranted and uncalled for act of war, one we will not stand for.

To United Kingdom
From Russia

We hope it is as clear to the English people as it is to the rest of the world just what sort of a nation Brazil is, with this threat of blockade. For them to do so would invalidate the Treaties of Tuileries and Madrid. We have no desire to see war rage once more, it is in fact our attempt to end a war 5000 miles from their own nation that Brazil has taken as an aggressive action. If Britain continues to support Brazil on their mad quest for war, it will only drag your own nation back into the war that just ended. We ask that you please talk sense into your ally or, barring that, not align yourself with a nation clearly led by madmen and warmongers.

TO: Russia
FROM: Brazil

We're blockading only Flemish ships transporting soldiers not Spanish, French or otherwise. We have it in our rights to do so. Or would you rather Brazil sink their ships somewhere in the channel and get it over with? We could blockade the Baltic or patrol the Aegean if you want. Brazil will never allow League sponsored troops to enter the Roman conflict as that breaks the treaties they signed. Flanders may pretend to act alone, but we know better and it is best if they stay home, leaving the tyrannical oppression of the Roman people to the Russian serf army.

To: Russia
From: The United Kingdom

We understand that Russia is a nation of slaves and peasants, but surely you can read better than that - there are no provisos in the Treaties of Tuileries and Madrid barring Brazil from interfering in the affairs of Romans. We do not consider Brazil a threat to world peace, whatever sabers they may rattle. Our support for Brazil, as has been made clear an embarrassing number of times, is just so such that if Russia decides to carry war against her, then Russia must also carry war against the UK.

From: Empire of Scandinavia
To: Concerned Parties

We do not appreciate the implication that the Baltic can and might be assailed with foreign ships without the permission of its bordering nations and without question for their concerns. We hope that in any event Brazilian ships will remain outside of the Baltic Sea, and do not interfere with peaceful, commercial traffic by our own ships and the vessels of our neighbors and allies.

The Roman Empire will treat any foreign forces on our soil as invading soldiers and we will respond to "peacekeepers" and any other invasions as an act of war. We are undertaking an investigation along with Brazil, the results of which are still undetermined into the unfortunate death of Admiral Buzatto, and will disclose the investigation upon its conclusion. Similarly the Roman Empire will not be ceasing hostilities against the usurping forces against the rightful rule of the Imperator. We will continue the fight, after they failed to meet us in negotiations. We will restore the empire, and the rightful rule of the Imperator. We are going to assure all relevant nations that shipping into and out of the Black Sea will not be interfered with by our forces. This remains only applicable as long as no international interests work to undermine the rule of the Imperator over all of his lands.

This is the 46 hour warning to get those orders in.

To: Flanders
From: United States of America

As the Romans have said they have no desire for "peacekeepers" in their borders, we would agree with Great Britain that your involvement in the matter invalidates your claim to neutrality. We encourage you to withdraw from an Russian so-called "peacekeeping" affair, which we doubt is truly "peacekeeping" and is in reality the Russian bear seeking more prey.

To: Scandinavia, Vinland
From: United States of America

As varook ball has spread throughout all of our borders, we would like to suggest that our three nations form an International Varookorgboll League, which will play a short tournament in each of our respective nations annually. The host nation will rotate every year, first Vinland, then Scandinavia, then the United States, repeating.

To: United States of America, Scandinavia

We would be interested in doing this alongside the Two Nations Cup, which is our current annual event held between the top team of the American and Vinlander national teams.

To: Scandinavia, Great Britain
From: Vinland

We are interested in leasing transport ships to facilitate the evacuation of Polish and Prussian refugees.

From: Empire of Scandinavia
To: Vinland

We are more than willing to cooperate with our brothers and allies in Vinland to assist in the evacuation of refugee populations in eastern Europe.

From: Empire of Scandinavia
To: Vinland, United States

We believe such an arrangement regarding varukorgboll is acceptable.

*Aide whispers something in the Scandinavian Diplomat's ear*

"Varukorgboll."

"You're sharp Sigurdsson, I knew we kept you around for something. Take a week in France."

Our fleet will block the Strait of Gibraltar this year to prevent Flemish soldiers from entering.

Any blockade of the Straight of Gibraltar by any force will be taken as an act of war by Spain.

What bizarre right does Brazil have to block Spanish sovereign territory?
