Casey Anthony found Not Guilty

Wouldn't you have to say though that if it were not for Nancy, Casey's case would not have made national news?

Reread what case? I represent criminal defendants on a regular basis and I can tell you from my experience that blacks are not catching any breaks.

Wikipedia:

Rather than try the crime in mostly white Santa Monica, California, where murders occurring in Brentwood would normally have been held, Bugliosi claimed that the prosecution made a big mistake by deciding to have the trial in mostly nonwhite Los Angeles. During the jury selection process, the defense made it difficult for the prosecution to challenge potential black jurors on the grounds that it is illegal to dismiss someone from the jury for racially motivated reasons (California courts barred peremptory challenges to jurors based on race in People v. Wheeler,[39] years before the U.S. Supreme Court would do so in Batson v. Kentucky.[40]).

Fears grew that race riots would erupt all over Los Angeles if Simpson were convicted of the murders, similar to the 1992 riots following the acquittal of four police officers for beating black motorist Rodney King. As a result, police officers were put on 12-hour shifts, and a line of over 100 police officers on horseback surrounded the L.A. county courthouse on the day of the verdict, in case of rioting by the crowd.

Not reporting your own daughter missing for 2 months after she disappeared? Jesus..

what was the most likely cause of death according to the state?

Neglect: she either drowned by accident and wrapped in tape. She was wrapped in tape and suffocated. She was wrapped in tape and left for dead.

Wikipedia:
Reread a case I saw on tv almost gavel to gavel? OJ didn't get off becuase he was black, he got off because the prosecutors were outlawyered. Making a known racist the star witness was not the brightest move in the world.

The riot thing is a diversion because that would have been a fear no matter what area courthouse the trial took place.

My sense of this whole trial was that Casey was almost certainly involved in the death of Caylee. Though I'd hesitate to call it murder, since there wasn't any real evidence to that effect. Nor did the prosecution do a very good job demonstrating Casey would have been the one to kill her.

Involved? Definitely. Proven guilty of murder? I say no.

a little clarification? ;) The state told the jury the kid might have drowned (while Mommy was drunk?) or the jury was told the kid suffocated because Mommy taped her up to keep her quiet or something? Or are those your possible explanations as to what happened to the kid?

Jolly? What was the state's evidence for cause of death?

(1.) Casey Anthony probably killed her daughter.
(2.) I would have voted not guilty. There was insufficient evidence to prove that she did it.
(3.) Nancy Grace is a scumbag. Actually, no, because a bag of scum might have even the most marginal utility. Nancy Grace is worse than a bag of scum.

Nothing direct so far as it could be tied back to the defendant. Lots of forensic evidence regarding the death (A) and lots of evidence that the defendant was a bad person that liked to party and got a tattoo (B), but nothing that tied A to B beyond a reasoable doubt. I don't think they tied Nancy Grace to the murder either, but she wasn't on trial, so who knows. It is mighty suspicious that Ms. Grace is trying so hard to place the blame on someone else.

This is the first thing you've ever written that I can fully agree with without having to sell my soul.

I want to remind everyone that this thread IS NOT about Nancy Grace. Stay on topic, please.

You can't separate the two, though. This crime celebrity gossip (I originally mistakenly called it "news") wouldn't be where it was without her.

She spent the last few years giving constant coverage of the case on national news and probably introduced a significant portion of the jury selection pool to the case, whereby many of them were probably stricken for having formed strong opinions of Miss Anthony's guilt prior to the trial (and its presented evidence).
