Cats and Kittens

Did the vet check the teeth for signs of decay or infection? Normally the cat has noticeably bad breath when that happens.

Yes. Quite how they know whether a tooth has tooth decay or not just by looking i have no idea. Dentists cant tell by looking at human teeth just by looking so i dont really see why cats are easier. The only thing that makes me think its unlikely tooth decay is that he is only 5 years old. And we feed him biscuit which is supposed to be good for teeth. He does eat the occasional mouse though. Although to my knowledge they are not of the sugared variety :)

I think Samsons idea is the ticket. Ill prod and poke next time he comes to sit on my shoulders or the keybard while im working :D

Two months ago was a stray kitteh.

What's dat?

He's turned into a very friendly lapcat that sleeps between their legs on the bed.

Valka's advice plus a re-home. He's got awesome colouring and very friendly to humans in general not just his humans.

Living the high life now. Went visiting last night.

These stupid humans buy me scratching posts I use as a bed and a tunnel to play in.

Being a cat though stick with string tied to it is my favorite toy.

I have never bought tunnels for my cats to play in, in case they throw up or use it for a litter box.

Well he inherited this one. Basically all the toys, beds, etc the family cats weren't interested in went to Stoney.

He liked the tunnel the best. Loves to play in it. He's really gentle and passive as well if you play with him you can put your hand in the tunnel and pat him.

Do that with my cat in his box he will claw your hand lol. Still do it anyway to tease him just don't complain when he draws blood.

That look you get when you go from stray to convincing a stupid human to spend $300 on vet bills.

What is with a windy day that drives a house cat utterly potty? Maximus is a fiend on such days.

May I direct you to the OP of my weather thread? You can see what happened in my city (thanks to a couple of YT videos someone posted of the windstorm we had that day), and I've described how the noise and rapidly blowing objects (leaves, twigs, gravel, various bits of garbage) combined to scare my cat.

Wind is noisy, and it blows stuff around. Sometimes it destroys things. Cats notice horizontal movement, and they tend to either react with interest or with fear.

The storm was bad enough to knock the electricity out, and there were hail clouds in the sky. We didn't get any hail here, but a tornado was a possibility.

What I did regarding the cat was that I closed the blinds so she wouldn't be distracted by seeing everything blowing around (though we could still hear it). Then I picked her up and cuddled her and told her we were safe, nothing to worry about.

Sometimes you do have to treat them like human toddlers. If you stay calm yourself, there's a better chance that the cat will stay calm.

I've been going through my lol closet over on the Cheezburger site.

Those were the days... Sadly the builders on that site mostly don't work anymore. It's changed owners several times since I was active there, and when they started featuring lols by "Unknown" on the main page instead of by the members - sometimes copied ones without giving proper credit to the people who really made them... I unsubscribed from all the mailing lists and basically dropped out.

I went back earlier this year, though, and discovered that quite a few of the people I used to interact with every day are still there.
