Grumpy Cat internet legend dies
Grumpy Cat, the feline famous on the internet for her permanent scowl, has died aged seven, her owners say.

A statement says she died on Tuesday following complications from a recent urinary tract infection.

The cat from Arizona had "helped millions of people smile".

Grumpy, whose real name was Tardar Sauce, went viral in 2012 after photographs of her sour expression emerged online. Her image quickly spread as a meme.

According to owner Tabitha Bundesen, her facial expression was caused by feline dwarfism and an underbite.

Grumpy Cat travelled the world making television appearances and in 2014 even starred in her own Christmas film.

Has anyone tried the cucumber joke on their cats yet? We're kind of wondering if it actually works.

I got nothing from my cat when I tried it. But perhaps I wasn't sneaky enough.

In any case a vet told us that when it works is not healthy for the cat.

They are passing Disney's Aristocats in the Spanish Disney channel.

In the Spanish version Scat Cat was named Gato Jazz. That's the reason of why my first cat was named Jazz.

This remembers me that the main song of the film says "everybody wants to be a cat, because the cat's the only cat, who knows where is at". I have always been unable to understand this sentence, does the word cat have any hidden meaning? Is it slang? Or I shouldn't try to find a meaning?

IIRC that slang arose in the 50s among Beats and lingered into the 60s.

I'd test this on Maddy, but I don't like cucumbers enough to buy one and eat it (any tests would be carried out with the cucumber placed on a clean surface so it wouldn't have to be thrown out).

I'm thinking about getting a cat (or two). I've found a place I can get kitty litter. There's no scratching posts nor hemp here, but I'm thinking of trying canvas. I have vague plans for two cat trees: one near my bed, the other downstairs in the TV area, so the cat(s) could hang out with us downthere & also look out the window at the sea.

I just built a few boxes out of plywood, cut a hole in one side then covered them with carpet. They use them for play and as a scratching post. When they destroy it, I just replace the carpet. The one in our family room has been recovered 5 times over 30 years.

A log with bark works well as a scratching post. A big one (8+ inches in diameter) can sit in a corner. A smaller one can be nailed to a flat board and stood up too.

Old carpeting nailed to wood works. You're recycling and it will last a long time, assuming the cat uses it.

Could be worse. When my Siamese cat was a kitten, she would lay in wait for me to get up. She seemed to be attracted by my long housecoat, so when I walked past, she would run out of her hiding place, wrap her arms around one of my ankles, and go CHOMP!

The final part of this stealth attack was a kitten-sized triumphant "Rawr!" as I reacted while trying not to step on her (she was quite young then, less than 6 months old).

When I was young I had a large cat that would hit me in the back of the knees in the dark hard enough to knock me down. Jinx is too small for that.

I now have four cats. This is toothless. We think he got hit by a car, because he has the body and behaviours of a kitten, but no canine teeth, a broken nose and a broken cheek bone. When he tries to bite you, it's like grandma after she got dementia and lost her dentures.
