Cats and Kittens

Do I want two more kittens?:love: Ma'am Vickie at Kayla'a is giving away kittens. So do I want two? Zkribs love kittens. :yup::yeah:

I discussed this with my cook and her two daughters. I don't bend over well and I'm not quick, so they would be the ones taking care of the kittens. :high5: The kittens would sleep with me & their litterbox would be in my master bath. They are not needed for warmth. The consensus is for male kittens. I want two, fearing that just one would be ganged up upon by my pre-existing cats. who are now teenagers.
Irish is very pro-kittens:dance:. JJ is taking the traditional "whatever you want, sir," stance. Their mother methodically went through the problems and solutions. which I take as leaning pro kitten. My driver is leaning anti-kitten.

Advice and insight is sought. [Yes, I have 5 dogs, but they are outside dogs.]
Everything Birdjaguar said, plus:

You'll need to budget more for vet visits. Unless you want a chaotic, smelly home, neutering at 5 months - or as soon as they give off a musky smell (whichever comes first) - is crucial. It means the males will not want to wander in search of females, they will be less likely to fight, and your furniture will be safe from spraying (once they start, they don't stop even if neutered after they start). Bonus for neutering: their personalities tend to mellow. Both my male cats became gentle, furry marshmallows, and any fights that happened among them were usually remedied with honeysuckle twigs (both my male cats - Tomtat and Gussy - became very mellow as soon as they got a whiff from the twigs).

I take it you'd end up with two sets of same-sex siblings? It sounds like a good mix. You'll need to be careful in introducing them to each other. Just letting them loose in the home and letting them sort it out themselves may be painful for them (scratches, bites) and for your ears.

Your current cats may experience jealousy and a feeling of being "replaced" by the newcomers, so be prepared to lavish extra attention on them to let them know you still love them as much as you always have.

The teen cats are indoor/outdoor. I would like my new kittens to be indoor, but they'll probably have accomplices helping them to break out. :hide:The good news is I have many coconut trees which prove to be excellent for climbing. This climbing works on their claws like scratching post. At first, I panicked when I heard my teens scratching on my couch. But after 8 months, the fabric is damaged in only two small places.:D

Yeah, I'll end up with four male cats and five male dogs, all neutered.
Thanks for the advice. :hatsoff:

Go for it!

Dunno why I thought your older cats were females...

You have serious Bonanza syndrome going on there... What happens when they all want their own cat-caves? (this is actually a thing; Maddy likes her own spaces which mean crawling under my blankets or me letting her have her own space under some piece of furniture I'd never even thought would interest her, but she likes it there, and the only time I find some of these spaces is if she's asleep and I happen to hear her snoring)

Vickie and I had communication problems. I thought her kittens were ready to go home. Really, they were just born.

However. my barber has two lady cats who both gave birth, six kittens total. Two arrived at my house today. I got a white one with an orange tail, and one with orange and white splotches. Both scrawny. I was staring at the white one, who was staring back. He reminded me of a mouse. I mentioned this to Irish, and she replied she had been thinking the same thing. So he is Mouse. If one is Mouse, the other must be Easy, a la Walter Mosley's 1950's detectives.

I think that "Mellow" is a grreat name ^^ I .... would like a cat.... I've read the "cat manual" but still...... I am more scared of him/her than he/she is scared of me ......... :hide:

Both cats were tuxedos, and in my experience, they tend to have fairly mellow personalities anyway. At least all mine did.

Cold crappy day hooman time.

Getting old and scruffy. He's done alright for a SPCA adoption.

Dexter has trained his hoomans to go and pat him at bedtime.

10 year anniversary on the 28th.

Day 1 did not go well. :shake:

For a decade, I had reveled in memories of cuddling in bed with my various childhood cats. :yup: Night 1, that all came to end when for reasons known only to Mouse, he pounced on the back of my bare thigh, dug in his claws, and bit me. I screamed and tried to jerk away, but he is so small, he came with me. Later, he got diarrhea and befouled my top sheet. In the morning, I discovered my kitties like to play in their litter box and track pooh everywhere. I also learn that in my household, the traditional midnight snack for kitties is rice and shrimp. The smell of seafood makes me sick. For me, my bedroom became uninhabitable. :vomit:

I was not there when Mouse and Easy were introduced to my other pets, but I am told, the cats hate them and the dogs hate them.

The big kittens spend their day in the little house and in the garden. Mouse and Easy are late risers, and they spent the day with me and Keejee, who is really good with them.

Mouse and Easy are afraid of ping pong balls. :dubious:

My driver built a hut for them on the second-floor street-side balcony. I did only a cursory inspection because by then it was dark, I had been sickish all day, and I was dead tired.

Day 2 is about to begin. :scared:

Edit: 3 hours later.
Poseidon and Boots have eaten and are back in the little house.
Mouse and Easy are awake and are playing with Keejee on their balcony.

As predicted, my indoor kitties have been smuggled out to the orchard garden for I am a BINO, boss in name only. Boots is fine with them :cooool:, but Poseidon sits pouting on the 2nd-floor porch of the little house.

You've named Your kitten Poseidon ... aww......
