Caveman 2 Cosmos

could I get a rundown on the new things in v32? (from 31)

There is a thread for the changes already posted.

How's vincentz and mod doing?

Hej folks. PC repaired, got a free evening, so I installed Civ again, tortoise to get the svn..but I frequently run into
"zlib (uncompress): corrupt data: Decompression of svndiff data failed"
during updating.
Sometimes "Malformed network data"
Clean Up and restarting works, but not for long. I probably can finish sooner or later with repeated clean ups and updates, because it starts where it last left off before the error.
But it is nevertheless rather inconvinient. Anyone got an idea how to fix this?

That more than likely means you got a BAD d/l, i believe??

Playing a game with v32 I get the event about some volcano erupting over and over again. Game speed is eon and I get this event every 2-5 rounds. There is however no volcano anywhere.

I think you see that event even if you never discovered the volcano. So any volcano anywhere wil get you the popup. I had about 1/50 turns on a giant map.

You only get a message if you can see it even if you can only see it through espionage. However, it does seem to be firing for the same volcano many times or it could be telling you once for each player in the game. The latter is probably the case.

I had it firing off very very early in the game, when I hadn't met anyone and hadn't discovered any volcanos. And yes the message gets repeated every few turns. I was fortunate in that I eventually got a message saying it had 'quieted down'.

Same here.

Not sure which thread to put this in, so I'll put it here.

Is there anyway to mod out the desertification part of pollution, so that it causes large sickness penalities but doesn't cause desertification.

Given that recent studies show that the Sahara is shrinking and that the planet is, on a whole getting greener, mostly due to an increase in CO2 in the atmosphere, the theory that air pollution causes deseritication has largely been disproven:
http://www.hngn.com/articles/7242/20130709/rising-carbon-dioxide-levels-causing-desert-greening.htm

I'm not saying global warming isn't a problem, it is, but desertification isn't linked to air pollution, and I would like to remove the ingame link.

Like the guy above me I don't know where to put this.
This mod is by far one of the greatest things to happen to the Civilization series. One one thing that has bothered me since Civ IV first came out was the art for the Muslim religious wonder "Masjid Al-Haram" or 'Kaaba'. The description is correct as is it's place as the main building. However the third building model is the 'Qubat As-Sakra'(Dome of the Rock) in Al-Quds(Jerusalem). This the fourth most important building. Since your mod introduced multiple religious wonders per faith I'd hope you fix this. The 'Realism Invictus' mod fixed the building model so maybe you could borrow it?

Also if possible correct the building as a whole?
The Muslim holy buildings are as follows(should you choose too correct them)

1) Masjid Al-Haram in Mekka(White Mosque with the Kaaba)(a marker point used to unify our prayers in a single direction)

2) Masjid An-Nabawi in Medina(White building with single green dome)(death-place and former house of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH))

3) Masjid Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem(Stone building with single lead dome)(place of the night journey where the Prophet(PBUH) visited heaven)

4) Masjid Al-Qubat As-Sakra in Jerusalem(Blue with big gold dome)(it's story is linked/related to the #3 which is in the same complex)(a model of this building is mistakenly used #1)

I'd appreciate such a fix very much. Thanks for reading and keep the good work.

I was just wondering what the relationship between number of religions and stability? Basically I'm trying to figure out if I should try to hoard as many religions as possible to make use of their bonus buildings or keep only one state relion based on the situation in the game.

Hello,

I'm currently playing a game as England and find myself unable to perform the 'Aid Rebel factions' mission on my neighbour Greece. I'm pretty sure I have revolutions on, as I don't see 'no revolutions' in the list which pops up after loading and as I have already experienced several minor revolts (those with a bit of anarchy). I checked the espionage screen and according to it I have ample espionage points to perform the mission. Is there some requirement I overlooked? Is there a way to turn on revolutions with the Bug options screen, in case it is turned off after all?

Thanks in advance.

Depends strongly on your civics and stability modifying buildings. With the right combination of civics, avoiding crime buildings ( yes..they bring tons of cash... but at a price ;) )and building just about any stability enhancing building you can still hoard religions. It just is harder with rev on :)
Most religious civics have stability modifiers for the state religion and for other religions, and there are those for hording and those for concentrating just on your state religion..and those that should best be taken in a religion free civ ;)

Furtherore: Depending on the options you chose when starting the game non state religion buildings might work at reduced output depending on on your civics.

Oh, and is Closed Borders civic the only way to get Fixed Borders? Thanks

I have been on a civ break for a while, so I don´t know all the stuff by heart anymore, but I think there are several civics getting you fixed borders, spread about multiple categories.

Yes, there definitely used to be, but the only civic which mentions it in the civic description now is Closed Borders (unless I missed some, there is a ton of civics in this game :mischief:).
I remember Nationalist used to fix borders and now it doesn't anymore.

Yes this is so in the latest civics set.

Ah, thanks, I just found out that the two border options at Applied Economics fix borders too. Which is great, because I really don't want to run Closed Borders, what with a trade-based economy and what not.
