Caveman 2 Cosmos

@Bill,
Yeah the idea is that you don't chop down your forests. If you do you start getting water pollution. Well that's the idea anyway.

@SO,
You need Bit torrent or equivalent program to use a torrent link. Firefox will not do it.

from what i have seen there is a small ,very small problem .no forest reduce water pollution only jungle does. in the world builder in the pic of forest exist only the regular pollution sign not the water one

I should have added that for water polluytion reduction from forest they have to be riverside forests. But I could be mistaken. At least that's the impression I got from Hydro. Maybe it's not been implemented yet?

I just updated to SVN 4231 from 4110 or so and My :gold: situation went from being +186 to -152! Is there some change here I missed that would cause that?

Edit: It seems that my civic upkeep went through the roof on the recalc, is there some civic upkeep change that happened in the past three days, or have I found a bug somehow?

@ls612,

Yes the New traits. Almost all traits now have a sizeable Civic maint. attached. If you have the right 3 you can have a 120% increase.

Forest, Bamboo, Savanna, Tall Grass, Cactus, Sea Grass and Kelp reduce Air Pollution.

Jungle, Mangroves, Swamp, Bog, Flood Plains and Coral reduce Water Pollution.

Volcano increase air pollution and tar pits increase water pollution.

Mountains block the spread of air pollution and rivers help push water pollution out to the sea.

Wait... Jungle doesn't help with Air Pollution? About the only thing keeping Earth anywhere near on track in that dept is our jungles!

It seems you've tried to divide responsibilities for reducing the differing pollution types here but that strikes me as less rational whereas I think you can still strike a good game balance while keeping with good rationale by allowing some to overlap. Besides, if Jungles handle only Water Pollution and Forests handle only Air Pollution, it kinda imbalances the map starts a bit I think. I'm not saying Forests should have much of an impact on Water Pollution nor that I disagree with Jungles helping in that regard, but I'd think Jungles would help a LOT with air pollution.

Also, I've noticed that polar regions tend to suffer less from air pollution thanks to the ability for water to freeze the water vapor out of the air and thus transferring the pollution to the ground (which usually isn't as bad there) so Ice and such would probably help with Air Pollution.

Oh... something I was thinking about the other day regarding this subject... Global Warming triggers... we have the Global Warming being triggered by a particular spot on the Air Pollution level of a given city and that is impacting areas outside of the city radius which does make sense but what I think we need to get that all into balance is a Global property counter for air pollution that controls Global Warming so that one city may contribute a lot to the problem, yes, but doesn't directly trigger it. Even one terribly unmanaged huge city would still be unlikely to have much of an effect on the globe by itself.

Explain pls? I dont want a run away train here?? (But pls transfer to the Traits Thread, PLS)

Does anyone else have only a few music file in the soundtrack directory? As far as I can tell, I have 3 mp3's in the ancient era, 7 in the galactic era and the rest of the directories are empty. Now I am in the industrial era and I am here the Bach music from the Renaissance; I think this is coming from the vanilla folder. Otherwise, I'm at a loss. Can anyone help me get the proper music for each era? Thanks in advance!

@matt1975,
Sounds like you have a bad install.

JosEPh

No the music should be there in the SVN.

I usually don't have the Music on while I play.

But there was some discussion over music just recently, Vokayra and Strategyonly. Maybe they changed something cause the complaint was that the same song seemed to play forever iirc.

Is this kind of what you are getting?

And did you post this in the V27 single player Bug thread too?

No, I didn't post this in the bug thread because I'm running SVN v4225. I reported it in the SVN thread, but the guys ignored me. :(

I am, in fact hearing the same song over and over. A lovely piece by Bach. But its getting old and I'm already an era further.

There are very few, mainly for download size reasons.
You can add your own by copying music files into the era New folders and then starting the game and load a save or new game (it will only be active when you restart the game after that first start).

Praetyre made a music file pack but it does not seem to be on the link that thread any more:

Don't post SVN problems in the SVN thread. That's for SVN Commits and changes from the Modders that are going into the Mod. Use the V27 single player Bug thread please. That's why you got no response.

As AIAndy posted you can do that.

And what you're hearing is what Vokarya and Strategyonly where discussing. Vokayra had the same complaint as you.

Actually, my problem is not adding something, it's deleting something from my SVN copy and getting it to stay deleted, since files that exist in the SVN and are missing from the local copy get restored whenever I update.

No, most of the music we use is from the Vanilla game (it is in the vanilla Soundtrack folders, along with the ones from Warlords and BtS). It can be hard to remember that we still are working with civ 4 sometimes. :lol:

I just downloaded Ver26 a few weeks ago after having ver20 forever and must say things are very different now. The ai definetly is smarter. I've saw overseas invasions for the first time in a long time and actually have a civ staying right with me with the number of cities it has and am afraid I may be in trouble when he declares war on me since he has a bigger army than me. As for as gold goes, I cant believe how much i have. I have over 600000 and am getting over 10000 per turn. Also the static leaderheads have been helping out a lot keeping me from getting any maf's so far. I'll probably get ver27 sometime after this game i'm playing now is finished.

Gold was easier in V26. Especially if you play Snail or slower. But much tighter if you play Normal or Epic.
