Caveman2Cosmos

For crime the decay is 5%. Ignoring all other possible effects, each point of crime per turn will move the equilibrium point (the value at which it is unchanging until some other factor comes into play) up by 20 since 5% of 20 is 1 and therefore the decay per turn will equal the added amount per turn (give or take possible effects due to rounding). It will take several turns to get to the new equilibrium point, especially once you factor in diffusion.

I can't understand this part, but it's because I don't speak english very well and i don't know some game mechanics. Everything I know now, is enough for me. Thank you very much.

I downloaded the last pack like 3 days ago and it seemed to work fine.

2 Problems: 1. I cant load a saved game, my game crashes when I try. Im not using steam. In game Everything seems to work fine except the following:

I always get some text which doesnt go away on top of my game screen saying this:

- BugOptions - failed writing INI file 'C:\Programm Files (x86)Fireaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos\UserSettings\Autolog.ini'

Same message with these at end: RoMSettings.ini , DiplomacySettings.ini

Those messages stay there all the time, maybe also repeating themselves.

I can play normaly and make turns etc.

This is in a multiplayer game btw not single player.

I checked that those ini files exist in the right folder and they are not write protected.

Anyone know what I could do about this?

Thx for any help!

Welcome to CFC and Caveman2Cosmos. Those messages are from Windows and it is the folder that is write protected. There are a couple of ways of fixing the problem the easiest would be to run Civ IV in administrator mode.

Thx! That worked for the messages :)

Now the only have a problem I got is that when I load a game, civ crashes. When I load I see the civilization selection screen and right after the game crashes to desktop. I tried with different graphic settings and Im NOT using full screen.

Any idea?

You say... when I 'load' a game. Is this to say you have one started and have saved one and are going back to it or are you trying to start a game?

Some maps have been known to be problematic and it's possible that we could have some problems with the 'play now' start option (which is highly unrecommended anyhow due to the depth of game options you should review before starting any C2C game.) Try using the custom game option and using either Planet Generator or Perfect Mongoose for the map type. There's some other good ones but I'm not sure which and I don't know which maps may have trouble either. The GEM may work too but its pretty big and not really recommended for anything less than a strong computer. (Viewports can get around some issues there but it seems to run slowly on some systems if you're using them so if it can be avoided it seems best for now to do so.)

I was trying a multiplayer game with AIs just for trying it out. I usally play with a friend 1 on 1 and wanted to get it working before getting him in.

I started a multiplayer game (in the lobby I click on new game) and selected the Custom continent map. It started all good I started a city and saved the game. I went back to the main menu and tried to load the game, thats when it crashed.

Looks like my problem is with loading a multiplayer map.

Single player works just fine.
I tried different maps in multiplayer mode.
Any clue what could be the problem?

Hi, I've been trying out this mod, and so far I really like it. But I've got one thing I'm just not getting. Is it possible to use multiple production? Seems like I'm always building a lot of bldgs that don't use up anywhere near the prod capacity of a city. I've search game options inside the game, and started a new game to see if there was a check box there. Looked in the BUG options to see if its there. I've tried having multiple items in the ques, but only the first one gets built. I know I'm probably missing something obvious, but can someone tell me if this is possible in this mod and how to turn it on?

Multiple Production and Multiple Research are both On by default now.

As Joseph says they are on by default. If your game does not have them activated for some reason it might be that Civ4 falsely cached your settings when you changed mods. If that is the case, then you can clear the false caching by starting one game with Play Now (you don't actually need to play that game, it is enough to start it).

If a running game does not have the options set then you can use world builder to set them (since the last released version).

When it comes to playing Civ, I am a lazy megalomaniac and C2C offers awesome features to manage huge empires. Make sure to check the advanced settings in the BUG Mod (click on ladybug button in top left menu):

  • Viewports: An absolutely genius way to deal with Civ4's 32bit memory limitations. The few graphical glitches are worth being able to play gigantic maps into modern times. I currently have a 9+ MB save file and it's still going; although, I had to shrink my viewpot to 30x35. The turns are pretty long but I keep Civ4 in windowed mode so I can easily multitask.

  • Advance Automation: Automate unit pillaging, hunting, patrolling, air strikes and bombing runs, exploration, spreading religions/corporations, caravaning, offensive city protection, pirating, upgrading, promoting, etc. I am sure the AI is doing a better job than I am willing to micromanage.

  • Go to City button: Send your unit to a city picked from a list. Very handy for viewports and huge maps.

  • Multiple Production and Research: Cities, be all you can be.
Don't forget to cue multiple production and research projects. For the later, hold shift to select multiple research goals.

  • Avoid Angry/Unhealthy City: I can't be bothered - let them have cake ....

  • Inverse Shift on queuing: Just click to cue units and buildings in the build list. It's a little feature that keeps giving.

What are your favorite C2C management features?

Thank you C2C team!

I just downloaded the mod this weekend, and I LOVE it.

Is it possible to disable the NoFuture feature? I can't see any ticks on the custom game screen, or in the BUG options. I love the prehistoric setting, but I'd like to play the entire game.

I will be hosting a PBEM game with this mod next month.

It will be the whole game and many of the new settings options enable (a discussion on this game's options/settings will be started.

Private message me if interested.

Currently considering the game's name

C2C does not have a NoFuture Option. AND does.

Is it possible to access the later techs and civics in the game itself?

Definitely all the way to the Spaceship and beyond, well as far as the techs that are listed that is:) (Last one TECH_FUTURE_TECH )

Caveman2Cosmos is the most developed (and largest) mod for Civ IV,
(more content than all others in Civfanatics combined and simply a Dream Team of modders pushing the limits of what Civ can do.)

I highly recommend you play a few deep games since C2C seeks to improve the whole Civ series.
Every version is like a whole new Civ Expansion, and the improvements are astounding.

You really should keep track of the amazing progress in the C2C project forums, even just to see how much improves.
-They are even looking to create alternate timelines and integrate the whole Final Frontier mod into a whole multi-map 4x space and Galactic Future expansion.
-They've done everything from completely rewrite the AI and turn times, completely expand the resource limit, pioneer whole new sets of major features, work on bypassing the game engine to become multi-core, to adding living world and simulation features, resource and equipment chains, reworked culture, religion, and civics, to exploring advanced features like a geo-realistic climate system, advanced events, and reworked user interfaces and game options.

C2C is like a whole new Civ game with the promise of being better than Civ 6.
