All players of CCM mods, please don´t forget, that we are nearing the 8th January. On this day we have

Makao, welcome at CFC! :band:[party]

Today is the birthday of Elvis and it is a programmed Civ 3 easteregg, that at this day all units with the king-flag (and there are a lot of units with this flag in CCM) are changing to the graphics of the Elvis unit.

XTC, thank you very much for answering Fortis1´s question. :) I would be interested, too, if there is a way to 'switch back' the game from multiplayer into single player mode with the single player interface.

I had an idea about fixing the so-called 'houseboat bug' : In the CCM and RARR mods nearly all settlers need support. A civ without any cities is not able to generate gold. If there is not enough gold for a civ, the unit with the greatest distance to the (no longer existing) capital will be eliminated in the interturn.

In the next versions of the CCM and the RARR mods, I will set all settlers to not needing any support or to give each government a support bonus of at least two free units (a ship and a settler). I´m excited, if this could fix that very nasty bug.

That would be awesome! I've lost count on how many games I've had to load with the multiplayer to fix that... and nefore that exe existed, I was always forced to start a new game...

They will still try to disband the ship probably, unless you make all transport ships cost free.

That´s why in the next version of the mod every government has at least two free units. It is not tested yet, if these new settings will work.

In my case, Brazilians had a whole fleet, supporting Medieval Naval Explorer with a Settler. Like 5-6 ships.

Just in case: I found a typo (I guess), the wonder "Ford's Factory" is named "Fordr's Factory".

Fortis1, thank you very much for your interest in CCM2. :) 5-6 escort ships for the last settler is a lot. In that case may be it would indeed help (may be), when all transport ships have no support costs.

At least in the last versions of the CCM 2 and RARR biqs there is no typo in Ford´s Factory.

I've got another book with Maghreb this time. Made a screenshot of their grand armada.

Oops, looks like I didn't replace .biq with the latest patch or didn't install it. Didn't cause me any real problems though.

I also thought it was RRAR causing this issue, but it seems to be CCM2. When my units engage in combat, the game will freeze when one of them goes to die and play the animation.

I see the same thing on my machine. As far as I can tell, it has to do with managing computer resources -- I'm using a really old computer to run Civ, and I often have Firefox (resource hog) running at the same time.

Similarly, I'll often see the screen freeze or go white during the IBT. My only advice is to try rebooting your computer, then start Civ and *only* Civ. That might help.

I was running into the same issue with the game freezing when units died tonight, albeit not in CCM. While searching for possible causes (FLICster didn't find anything alarming about the unit animations, my first guess), I found both your posts... but also the post I've quoted below, which suggested the problem occurs when you're playing Civ with Task Manager open on recent versions of Windows.

I was skeptical, but sure enough closing Task Manager solved the problem for me on 8.1. I didn't even have to restart Civ. If I started Task Manager again, the problem came back.

Hopefully that helps at least with the death animation problem. I'm not sure about the white screen on IBT. I ran into that on my new laptop, which runs Windows 10. Haven't tried to play Civ on it in roughly two years, though. The 8.1 desktop that I had the death animation issue on tonight doesn't have the white screen on IBT issue. But given the specs of my laptop that does have it - Core i7 8750H hex-core processors - I suspect resources aren't the main factor in it. When I ran into that problem a couple years ago, I switched back to my vintage 2007 laptop running XP, and continuing the same game on that much less powerful hardware (2.8 GHz Core 2 Extreme), I didn't have the white screen issue.

I'm mildly tempted to downgrade the processor in that laptop just so I can compete for "least powerful computer playing CCM"... but that might be a little bit more effort than it's worth.

If I run civ III normally (not in compatibility mode) the game freezez for the duration of unit death animation but otherwise runs normally with good performance. Happens in nonsteam and steam version.

If I run the game in compatibility mode (XP or abve) the game doesn't freeze during unit death but the performance is ruined.
With nonsteam version the game uses all the CPU power it can get and is unplayable when there are moderate ammount of units on map.
With steam version the game run better but still pretty badly.

Starting new game has good/decent performance. It seems like worst performance drop only happens when a save is loaded. I tested with the "age of discovery" scenario and the game ran ok but not too well when I start the scenario. But if I save and load it the game is completely unplayable. If I load the game without compatibility mode performance is perfect.

OS: Windows 10
GPU: RX 480
CPU: i5-3570K

EDIT:
After some testing the game freezes during unit death if task manager is open. If I close task manager the animation plays properly. Perhaps some other programs cause it too if they are running on background.
