CFC Fantasy League for EPL.

So, I made a couple big transfers last night.

Got rid of Arshavin, Torres, and Faye Ab and replaced them with Rooney, Vidic, and West Brom's 5.2-worth Fortune.

The Fortune thing was a bit of a gamble, but I really didn't like any of other strikers that I could have gotten for 8.1 or less (I still have 2.9 in the bank). and I had been drinking... so I was like "Yeah!! WEST BROM!$&! THey're gonna fight for their survival and score a couple goals"

Imagine my surprise when I found out that Fortune scored 2 goals, got 3 bonus points, and 13 points overall. He could even be my highest-scoring player this week (I'm kinda banking on Ronaldo for that, as he plays 2 games this week, but 13 is pretty good, so we'll see).

Anyway, 1st place, I'm looking at you

I slipped down to 2nd in my head to head league, I'm behind by 3 points, only cause I've been making tons of transfers lately - and those hurt you in the head to head league (you lose points), but I'm still 1st in all others except CFC. Good position to be in near the end..

I moved two weeks before and hadn't got time nor internet access to mingle much with my team, so I am surprised I am still 4th and I am even 2nd in my head to head league now! maybe I should stop making transfers altogether...

Not victory - it would be foolish, premature, and jinx-worthy to declare victory now. I can smell 1st place, though

I had one of my best runs this season when I was away hiking in remote parts of southern Chile and Argentina for 3 weeks. I got a couple chances to make minor changes to my team a couple times in hostels, but the connection was horrible so I couldn't really do any research, and i obviously didn't see any of the games.

I have no idea how that worked out, but hey, the Premiership can be unpredictable, I guess. One of my worst runs was the first couple weeks after my return btw

I have changed the criteria for this season, it is the most valuable teams that get prizes. That means I am second behind warpus with calgacus third. Well at least I am dong well financially.

Hey, this is so close. It's gonna come down to bonuses. This week its 43 points for me and 51 for Warpus, but I have a guaranteed 11 point lead (7 from previous games, and a 4 point difference in transfers). So I lead Warpus by three points, with Warpus having more players likely to get bonuses.

Personally I am very happy with 4th/130,816 overall, quite an improvement over last years 5th/172,700, considering that I don't know much about english football and can see half an hour premier league a week at best.

But I don't know if I will participate next season, got little time at the moment. Thx all for playing!

Victory!!!

It did come down to bonuses In the end, I won by one whole point. Congrats to Warpus though for a very spirited fight-back, coming from way back a few months ago to being 2 points away from nicking it. I don't really know how I won. I never finished top of any month table. When I was just learning about the EPL and this game last year, I won four different months but finished low [8th?]

This year I had a terrible March, April and early May, my form putting me in the bottom half of the table. Yet, I clung on!

I see Warpus though won his head-to-head league with a last day showdown encounter with his nearest rival Hantu Altantuya, beating him 48 to 42 (which is incidentally the same score if Warpus and I met). Congrtats!

I won my own head-to-head too. Truly unbelievable. I think all year I was only top of that once, for like one week. I was third last week, a point behind two others. They both lost, I won and, well, I won the league. Really strange, because for much of the year I languished in 4th and 3rd despite usually possessing a c. 50 point score lead. Yet my score average declined, and I still won despite finishing 2nd in score, 16 points behind the best scorer. How the tables turned!

I pretty much accepted defeat a couple hours ago, as I was checking the scores and game updates... I was a couple points behind and it looked like I was going to be 5-10 points behind. Imagine my surprise 5 minutes ago, when I got home back from dinner and check the scores.. ONE POINT!! Holy crap! That's just too close. Feels good to be in the top 45,000 players, doesn't it, calgacus?

My head to head league was TIGHT, as calgacus mentioned. I was first for most of the season, then slipped to second maybe 2 months ago. My rival slipped up last week and I faced him this week - and managed to come out on top.

This was one hell of a season - I can't wait for next! Congrats to all for a good run - our league ended up 19,902 / 140,860 - that's a pretty good stat.

Did I really end up with the most valuable team?

I finished my head to head 5th but I had two draws to end my campaign, but had they been wins, i would have finished 3rd. But I came second in my finances. But this year ws my worst year I have had. It dropped a massive 327 points from last season.

Thanks Warpus! Interesting to hear how you saw things at the end of the matches. I pretty much thought you had won. I was only 3 points ahead at the pre-bonus stage, and I thought Kuyt (3), Anelka (3) and Malouda (1) ... and possibly Baines (1) ... would get bonuses, while on my side I thought at best Torres might get one point. Lo-and-behold they gave 3 points to Torres, even though he got subbed. It really came down to good luck at the bonus stage.

BTW, who's won it in previous years?

Yeah, it was so close that anything that happened can pretty much be attributed to luck.

I mean, if Toure scored that goal (he hit the post), I would have won. When it comes down to 1 point, it's all about luck

that is probably to some extent because of the "Ronaldo Mania" last season, I had 2001 points last season and ranked 172.000, this season 1876 / 130.000.

Ronaldo's mediocre form (for him!) this season is probably also the reason for the measly result of our league overall, since he was overrepresented at our player's teams, at least in the upper half.

I know Ronaldo did not have the same season as last year, but I did better the previous year. Considering I went from 136,635 place to 106,529 last season, a reasonable improvement, I went down to 466,342th place and that is a massive drop. Even though there were more players, I certainly did not have a good year, since the two previous installments I was always near the top of the ladder. I came second the first year, since soooo joined up late, but was a member of the Fantasy game already, but only joined our league late, so he won that year, when I was easily leading, until he showed up. then last year I finished 4th, after being in the top 3 for all but the last few weeks, damn you warpus. So all things considered i did poorly this year.
