CFC Tavern.

Ah, well i've just been unlucky.

I've had no items, no individual quest, nothing special or exciting.

I just sat there turn after turn not understanding the cryptic clues...

Try playing Earthling's Mafia Game that is accepting Sign-Ups it is quite different and looks like a lot of fun.

An NESer complaining of complex rules.

EDIT: I apologize for my idiocy.

He said 'clues' not 'rules'.

Abaddon, if you're playing mafia and you're not confused, then I would wager that you aren't playing it correctly. A lot of the fun comes from trying one's best to make sense of what's going on. Like, you might be talking to someone via PM about the game, and then you suddenly realise that what he's saying is too convenient, or that he's claiming a role that someone else you know has already claimed. Or maybe you examine the votes from the last few days and find that the guy you previously thought to be a paragon of innocence was actually voting along with an already-discovered mafioso. So then you have your suspicions, and maybe you lay a trap for the suspect, perhaps PMing him to ask for his thoughts on another player, or calling him out in the thread and demanding an answer.

In the recent SpongeBob Mafia thread, for example, here's some fun I had: I was reading through the Day 1 votes, which are usually random (because of the nature of Day 1) and noticed that DrumStudent had changed his vote from classical_hero to DaveShack. Why did he do that, I wondered. Looking back, I noticed that there were already a couple of votes on DaveShack, and that made it even odder. Piling onto a bandwagon isn't necessarily a bad thing (you can askthepizzaguy about that) but it doesn't usually happen on CFC. So then I thinks, who else has some votes on them? Well, bestrfcplayer has three, for some reason. Perhaps DrumStudent is trying to save bestrfcplayer? As it turns out, that was in fact the case (I spent the next few days failing to act on that suspicion, but that's just one of my failings as a player).

Then later on in the thread you can see other players doing the same thing - johnhughthom subjected robbiecon to a grilling (he was correct in his suspicions, robbie was mafia), askthepizzaguy came in as a sub and quizzed Kennigit (who was in fact innocent) and then pressured CivGeneral (who was mafia). You can have fun as a vanilla innocent, because even as a vanilla, you still have the vote, and that's a plenty powerful ability even if everyone has access to it.

IIRC you did okay in Vanilla with Sprinkles: you had sprig bang to rights, people didn't listen to you but you were under some suspicion yourself.

Thank you Cat. I've got a fair bit on my plate right now, but if an interesting setting comes up I may try to get involved on the back of your help :)

:assimilate: He must be converted!!!

*Knocks on the door*

Did I hear someone say conversion?

And I'd like a tall glass of....Coke Zero and someone tell me more about these "NESes"

NESes are basically IOT, but more complicated, more serious, and MUCH less spammy, in a nutshell. The two most famous NESes ever made were the A Brave New World series (Currently on its third version, but I think its dead), and Gone is the Old Guard (I was involved in it, but I don't like to talk about. Let's just say I was a newb then and stop talking about it). Currently, the big NES going on is Lord of Elves's NES, whose title is in Latin, (Which all the other French nations made a coalition and killed me in turn 2 (In one effing' turn, as well), without any plausible reason. >_>) and Our Ancestors Sins (WHICH ****ING ROCKS! JOIN IT! Just not as Wales or Scotland, please. Let's say I have... goals... with them)

So, NESes are only for IOT+ games or for any kind of complex game?

Yeah, only IOT+ games only, but sometimes (very rarely) we play an onilne board game (Like Diplomacy or Phobitation). But those are (generally) the only execptions.

Here's a link to Our Ancestors Sins if you want to look at it

Ah. I asked because I was wondering where to put the game I'm working on (after IOTVI is finished of course).
