The tile on which the Ottomans spawn should be Ottoman Çanakkale or Byzantine Abydos (it currently doesn't have a city name). I'm also willing to fix the city name map in Egypt and the Levant if you need it.

Why is the Arab capital no longer called Damascus? The Northern city that is now called Damascus should be called Aleppo, or whatever it's called in Arabic.

City name maps there have yet to be updated after the map change a while ago.

In my France/Monarch game I noticed some strange city naming issues. The English founded 2 cities in Normandy and Bretagne: Hastings and Cambridge. After I conquered them, Hastings became Caen and Cambridge became Saint-Malo. The French names are geographically correct I suppose, but the English versions are most probably not.

I have updated to SVN revision 1064.

Some tiles don't have a cityname for each civ. When you build a city on that tile, it won't pick a name from the CNM (because it hasn't one for that tile), but it will pick one from the citylist like the vanilla game. In the case of England, the first ones of that list are Hastings and Cambridge.

As France does have a name for cities on those tiles, it will use the name in the CNM. So France have a historical name.

OK, thanks for explaining this. The confusion was partly because when I saw Caen flipping to the English in my earlier games, I thought that Caen was sort of historically natural area for them. That's why I was surprised when the city didn't get named as Caen when it was founded by the English.

England should really get the French city name for France, since they like settling Aquitaine so much.

I have some minor CNM changes in my WIP version
After I commited them I will upload the maps for you, somewhere around the weekend
Every help in city name maps is greatly appreciated, it's a tedious job to do it right, but everyone can do it easily who has some time and a little enthusiastic about a given civ

Probably the usual method of uploading a single city name map here
It's hard for syncronizing, but good enough for a first step

Here are the Kievan and Muscovian city name maps
They were last edited and somewhat improved a couple months ago by IOnlySignIn and myself

EDIT: No, the Kievan map wasn't updated, only the Muscovian one
Nevertheless it could also use some further updates

Sry for taking that long
I have some city name changes in the Levant in my WIP version for a couple month now
I planned to finish and upload those before you start on these maps, but seems like I never get enough time
Maybe I will scratch those and reintroduce any of my changes (if needed) after you updated the maps
So, Byzantium, Arabia and the Ottomans?
