Civ 4 forum

Actually I wanted to complain and complement Civ3 in this forum. There are a number of things about Civ3 I don't want to see changed in any fundamental way, and a post about that would certainly not be "complaining." There were also a few things I didn't want to see changed in any fundamental way with Civ2, but Firaxis did it anyway, in some cases for the worse (IMHO). I don't know how interested the developers are in what the market desires, but at least a sub-forum would allow us all to trick ourselves into thinking they know and care.

The developers have specifically informed the moderators here that they are not interested at this time in such a forum, which would make it's existence, well, delusional in purpose.

As soon as the developers state that such a forum would be of assistance to them, I'll go from opposed to openly supportive of it.

Same here!

Indeed most if not all people would change to pro when/if the devolpers choose to have one again (to not do so would ignore the sucess of Conquests compared to PTW). However some people still will be asking for a civ4 forum even throught the devolpers don't want one. I do belive that it has replaced "why can't I search" as the most common Q now.

I have to disagree with your two final points, MarineCorps:

Some vocal ones for sure, but not most, at least not according to the polls I've seen here in Feedback.

I honestly think the more common (if unspoken) question is why can't we leave well enough alone?

 I have to disagree with my point also. Thinking of one thing and typing another is not a good combo  :crazyeye:

Well, if there's more people against a Civ4 forum than for it, as there also seems to be a majority of opposition to adding the also proposed Politics and other forums, then I think the majority of people are basically asking "Why change anything at all?"

I've wondered that myself. The very vocal minority want a change, while the majority say that everything works fine as is. Kinda like Liberals and conservitives.

I'm not normally a conservative, but if ain't broke, why fix it?

I do belive thats the general feeling around here. Course broke means different things to different people.

You two guys are worse than those wanting change. :ack:

Different people? Is that the politically correct terminology for compulsive spammers these days?

We should wait till about a year before Civ4 comes out, then we begin a Civ4 part of the forum. It's the best in my opinion...

Or we could wait until Firaxis/Atari actually asks for a Civ 4 Forum, and until they will start taking ideas that we post into actual consideration. I think I am starting to see the point for this, now . . .

You must realize that Atari/Firaxis does seriously consider the ideas that we post in the Civ part of this site, they have a couple registered people on this site whom do post. Must be nice to know the people who make this great game, lucky TF. I am fairly positive that TF will not put a Civ 4 Forum up until Atari/Firaxis ask for one, and will look at the ideas we put there . . .

I don't understand why y'all feel the need to post your ideas about what should be done for Civ IV
It will not be out for years yet, and only a small mention of it has been made. All the ideas that you are posting now will not be taken into account, and ignored. You don't really think in a few years time people are going to bother looking back at this do you? People will be more than willing to post ideas then, no need to do it now. Conquests has only been out for a few months... God.

Don't quote me on that btw ;)

Because people like dreaming, I guess. Me being one of them. Not of the dreams, but of the people :D ... I actually don't understand why your opposed to it. Nobody is forcing anyone to participate. When you want to discuss Civ 4 now, you're browsing the entire i-net.
I remember the D2 LoD pre-release forums, LOADS of fun. This could be too...

Forgive me if I've posted this already, something went wrong here...

Considering that according to Padma "they are in the stage where they are starting to think it's a good idea to have civ4".....
