Civ 5 Design Challenge IV - History/Eras

Going for Klisz's Kassites; a nice design among many that were too much this round. Replacing or overhauling such essential early game things like monuments and chariots in ways that completely change how they'd work defeats a lot of these designs, they end up being either nerfed to Venice tier or overpowered beyond realism. These Kassites were nice though, as is Lungora's design. I also like Keniisu's. Vote goes for Klisz's Kassites.

I absolutely loved the Ami People by NiaoMeow. It seems so fun to play, really!

I very much like the feel of Uighur_Caesar's Zhou - so they get my vote.

Congrats Niao! You get to decide the next Civilization Design Challenge and pick the Historical Time Period / Era in Time.

The Era I pick is...... Now!

It seems a Modern Mongolia is in order...

I'll be back with some 1-tugboat-navy fueled design.

Hmmm... Well, obviously

State of Israel(Yitzhak Rabin)
UA: The Startup Nation
Units heal whenever you research a technology based on its era, and gain XP when you do so during :c5war: wars. When constructing military units and buildings, part of the :c5production: production contribute towards :c5greatperson: Great scientist generation.

UI: Bahad
Unlocked at military science. May only be built on featureless flat tiles, never adjacent to each other. +1 :c5science: science, increasing to +2 :c5science: after flight and to +3 after computers. Units finishing the turn on it grant :c5greatperson: great scientist points equal to their level. Built 25% faster and generates +2 :c5culture: culture if built on desert, snow or next to an academy (bonuses stack).

UU: Merkava
Replaces tank. The Merkava ignores terrain costs in desert and snow tiles and also ignores enemy ZOC. Additionally it has the "trophy" promotion, which reduces the damage it takes from ranged attacks by 15% per each :c5moves: movement left at the end of the turn. Keeps its traits and promotions upon upgrade.

Note: I have made 2 Designs, which are made around this theme. For fairness, I'm only submitting the Obama one for the contest.

United States of America (Barack Obama)
UA: The Obama Doctrine -
Upon a declaration of war against another civilization, production :c5production: across all cities is increased by 10% and melee units gain +10% strength :c5strength:. Alongside this, whenever a friendship is declared with another civilization you receive +3 Gold :c5gold: and +3 Culture :c5culture: per turn.

UU: Assaultmen (Replaces Rifleman) -
Can move :c5moves: across enemy roads as if they were owned by your civilization and has 10% more strength :c5strength: within enemy borders but 5% less defense :c5strength:.

UB: Boot Camp (Replaces Military Academy) -
Units are given a lower experience bonus of 5XP, but all units produced by this city receive the "Recruit" promotion which grants the unit with +1 movement :c5moves:.

As someone living in Europe, you really couldn't be further off the mark. Russia has a grand total of like 1 real ally in Europe, Belarus, and thats more of a weird abusive relationship. The Russian attitude to diplomacy is really nicely summed up in a programme called 'the news' that airs every so often you might want to check out ;)

Aside from being completely stumped for a long time, here's something... I should really have focused on Mongolia's fresh new thriving mining industry; but that's boring.

Mongolia (Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj)
UA: The Three Manly Games - With the adoption of a social policy a Naadam is triggered (like an event in E&D). The Naadam will either have exceptional Archer, Wrestling, or Horsemanship. Whichever one of these is chosen replaces the privious one, and give a bonus depending on its type. Gain a weak boost of influence with every civ that knows you upon adopting a policy. Naval units may be built in lakeside cities.
UB: New Age Lamasery - Replaced the Broadcast tower. The Lamasary turns 33% of the city it's built in's faith into Tourism.
UU: Heavy Metal Throat Singer - Replaces Great Musicians. Aside from being awesome incarnate, the HMTS is generated at twice normal speed and gives a combat bonus (+15%) to all friendly units for the next five turns after doing a concert tour.

Spoiler :
Naadam Games:

Archery: Ranged units get +1 range.
Wrestling: Melee units make enemy units adjacent to them unable to move.
Horsemanship: Mounted units and civilians move twice as fast.

Ah well, you see as an American who watches news and does search up News quite often. (I enjoy politics and global affairs between nations.) I can say that whenever you hear from the news here in America it's quite central-based and by that I mean you don't hear much about other countries in our news unless it's a quite a large event like the Paris attacks or War in the Middle East. (Which granted, the U.S. president did comment on those events so of course it'd be in our news.) From what I see, our news is usually centered around events within the USA unless it is something that another country did that affecting us or bothering us in a way. However since you did mention I was off, I'll do some digging to find out how I can work with his civilization design a bit more ;)

It's not a bit off, it's "trying to hit the dartboard but accidentally hitting a whisky barrel behind the bartender" off. If anything, the US is the major diplomatic one while Russia's kind of isolated and incredibly powerful.
