First paragraph translated with google translator:

"On the outskirts of the Game Developers Conferenceto be held until March 13 in San Francisco, have Take 2 Interactive and Firaxis Games, the first time their new 5th Version of the classic Civilization strategy presented. Unlike his predecessors part 5 is not Legend of designer Sid Meier will be developed, but by Jon Shafer, originally from the user-Mod scene five years ago and is joined Firaxis. Did players currently looking after such modifications on specific Civilization fan sites, so you can choose them directly in Part five in the game menu and download."

That sounds good... I allways liked to make maps and mods in Civ 3... but with Civ 4 it was too hard...

but with such freedom isn't there the risk that users could unbalance the game for themselves? That's one of the principle reasons I don't like many of the mods that I've tried. They all destroy the game balance.

Freedom to change anything is one of the reasons Civ is amazing, even if you unbalance the game. You want flying battle ships that shoot nukes, fine, its extremly unbalanced but if you think its fun, you can make it. The point of games is fun, not balance.

I once made a uu in civ3 that had like five hundred attack and defense and about 50 movement that costed to production and played a whole game with it.
