4. Japan: Land of the Rising Civ
3. France: Vivre le Civilization!
2. Songhai: Standing the test of time
1. Siam:The Gold Standard

This is the list so far. I'll make some additions and then put it in the OP.

Germany
America
England
Ottomans
Egypt
Iroquois
China
Aztecs
Greece
Russia, I think
8. India: Nothing without nukes
7. Rome: I came, I saw, I did mediocre
6. Persia: At least they beat the Greeks this time
5. Arabia: One more turn!
4. Japan: Staying Strong
3. France: Vivre le Civilization!
2. Songhai: Standing the test of time
1. Siam:The Gold Standard

You missed Russia, looking at the thread I think it was eliminated after Greece but before India. But i could be wrong.

I think Russia got accidentally dropped out on one of the edits. That happened a few times to some of the others too and one of the next posters alertly caught it, but they slipped by - which is shame, because I haven't played them much and this list is amazingly accurate, seems. I at least would have liked to see where they ended up.

Also, if you followed the posts one-by-one and tabulated them, there were some other errors that got missed. But again, overall - I initially thought this was silly, I was wrong, I'm impressed. :)

Those are quite strange results. According to this poll China is the strongest civ. Here it is not even under the first 5.

Songhai seems to win this at the moment but is perhaps rank 6 on the other vote.
Guess it has something to do with the method used here.

I actually think this method created a much more accurate list than the polls do. Because it takes into account second choices. And ultimately a civ that's most people's second place vote is stronger than one that's a few people's first place vote. You can be a die hard fan of a certain civ due to a specific playstyle, but once that option was eliminated it forced you to think about who you'd pick in their place.

This was a fun game and an incredibly good reflection of the general consensus on these boards. Thanks for starting it Ferris.

Comparitively, the list from Jim Bro's thread:

Germany
England
Iroquois/Aztec
Egypt
America/Ottomans
India
Arabia
Russia
Songhai
Mongolia
Rome/Greece
Japan/Persia
France
Siam
China

It's semi-consistent, but there are a few outliers- China's too high, Songhai's too low, Arabia's too low, etc. I guess nearly everyone hates Germany, though- Got out of this thread on the first page, and only had 1 vote on the other thread.

I should have voted Songhai in my second time, but anyway, this Elimination was excellent.next year we can make this elimination again to see who is the winner. btw, congrats Ramkhamhaeng and Askia Muhammad I for this winning.

By next year, the devs will have tried to balance Germany but instead make extremely overpowered.

Seriously, though, who wants to make this for the IV forums? I don't have any expansions and won't take the time to find my manual.

You mean that you own civ 4 vanilla but never got warlords/bts/gold/etc? Steam had a sale a few months ago, it was $10 total for civ 3 with all expansions plus civ4 with all expansions...well worth the price, I played civ 3 for a week straight and even now pick up a game every now and then.

I have trouble re-adjusting to the unlimited unit stacks. And I confess I'm spoiled by the newer, better graphics.

An excellent thread, that turned out more accurate than any poll would...

Perhaps, if we are to do DLCs, it should be restricted to those of us that have a full set? Otherwise some DLCs will get poor votes, as no one will vote for a DLC they have not seen. Also, it would be good to do only DLCs, then, afterwards, all in, perhaps starting with 20 or 25 points...

Civ3 has some pretty good modded graphics. The plain graphics themselves are pretty good considering when they were made.
