Civ V Civilizations Roster

You can focus on building a large navy early for war.
You can take some emphasis off the fleet and research more getting a navy later on to attack.
You can do either of the above with focus on peaceful expansion.

While doing this you can focus on building your cities up for economic growth.
Or you can build them up to produce good military units.

Your teching can be focussed on wonders, culture, or other peaceful techs or military techs (land and/or sea).

You can be a loyal person making lots of trade agreements and not backstabbing people
You can attack and try to destroy everyone despite good relations.

The navy would be one aspect of the game. It works in concert with many others, both directly or indirectly.

There are going to be a number of personality values for the leaders. It is the combination of these that will give them unique character.
In addition to their UU and traits.

yeah i completely understand what you are saying, but
Flavors define a leader's preference for certain types of gameplay and, to a large extent, you'll be able to guess which way a particular leader will lean. Katherine has a high expansion flavor, so the Russian empire will have lots of cities. But she doesn't have a high flavor for city growth, so her cities will be much smaller than Gandhi's. Elizabeth has a very high naval warfare flavor, so her English empire will strive for control of the seas.

You are in no was countering my argument. There is no reason to think that just because they have one tendancy the same, others will be. Just because those mention one fact about the leaders Undoubtedly they will have otehr tendencies as well.

Else why would we have Askia, Monty, and Ghengis? All will focus on their military, without a doubt. They will go about it in different ways.

Askia will probably be military and science, Montezuma will be military and gold, and Genghis Khan will be MILITARY!!!!1!1!111!!

Elizabeth would be sea to expand land area via trade and settlers, while the Vikings would be more for military sea.

no, i don't get it like you about unique bonuses. i agree with say1988.

navy might cover more than 1 categories. just rememebr civs from BTS and what their characteristics are in real world? more than 1nation is known to be powerful on navy; english, spain, ottoman, portugal, dutch, vikings etc.

just like:
english: harbors give 1 free merchant
vikings: navy units and melee get +25% xp

Still a chance. I'd say that it is up int eh air between Persia, Spain, Babylon, Vikings. Giving the latter a bit of an edge, and a slim chance for something else.

Interestingly, Harun al-Rashid was an Abbasid Caliph born in modern day Iran. I think they made this choice to compensate for not including Persia in "vanilla" Civ 5. Persia still remains my top preference for playing Civ 4, and my top preference for the 18th civilization in Civ 5, but I seriously doubt it will be in "vanilla" Civ 5.

For the last civ, I'd bet on Persia or Spain, but both civs should be in. Additionally, i hope for Surferman :D.

i doubt the ottomans had a powerful navy. if they had, they woudl be able to take a lot more land than usual. like all of Italy for starters.
