Civ VII Weekly Reveal Guessing Thread

Well, they posted something.

not much, but still.

good look at a SEA Altar at least.
The FIENDS.

(I mean, I can hear the chickens, how cute!)

But still, the nerve.

CHICKENS lead CHICKENTOPIA in Sid Meier's Civilization VII!

So this week there's expected a First Look yet... If it's tomorrow then it's either because they are a new schedule since last will complete a week tomorrow, or it's because it's special day for this announcement

Hmm... Loking at holydays, I don't know if it's a good clue?

Lol I mean we could make guesses off this. I'm not sure if we will ever see anything actually sync up like the Tecumseh reveals did.

Although, I would not mind celebrating the origin of neckties ("cravats" do indeed derive from Croatia as I recall).

Edit: twitter version has a decent look at the Maurya unique district.
As much as I've been enjoying the snippets of the soundtrack, it's nice to be able to appreciate the ambient sound design, too.

Bit of a longshot, but tomorrow (October 18) is the anniversary of Tuskaloosa's death, although I don't know what language they'd have him speak. It's also the date Eva Perón and Juan Perón married.

Choctaw would be the most historical option, Muskogee in a pinch. I'd be a bit surprised but not at all sorry to see him.

Honestly, with the right leader, I think Muscogean or Cherokee might actually be reasonably possible as other branches of the Mississippian civ path.

Problem with Tusk, I think, is that he either seems like he would share almost exactly the same leader identity/concept as Tecumseh (suzerain of the world), or be a tad more violent, and I'm not sure if either is what the devs want to add to the game. But Taskigi Mound would be very much in line with the Mississippian civ designs for a wonder.

And then if we get Anishinaabe as Tecumseh's endpoint, maybe we could cram in some Cherokee and Seminole representation with a more generalized "Five Tribes" Oklahoma alliance as a modern endpoint.

Lol I know I'm jesting. I too think it would be extremely weird and dissatisfying not to get Persia (or something else, but Persia is really the far and away the "only" option other than maybe a Meso civ) at launch. I think we've seen enough to suggest it's in the base game, so I'm hoping it's just a matter of being patient and not desperate. :)
You are probably right.
The Civs seem kind of paired, which lets them trade progressions
2 from the Americas
2 North African
2 European
But 3 Asian…
So maybe Persia pairs with Maurya, leaving Han and Khmer
or early Japan/Korea pairs with Han, leaving Maurya and Khmer

Yeah something that pairs with Asian most likely and Persia has been heavily hinted at but they could be in the first DLC also.

With Friday in and still a leader and civ to be announced this week, my guess they're related so they decided to announce both today. Civ probably Achaemenid Persia as many guessed, and the leader probably Cyrus or Xerxes.
They seem to pop back and forth between Cyrus and Darius since Civ 5, so I'm leaning more towards Darius or Xerxes, but otherwise, I think you have the right of it.

I’m rooting for Xerxes this time. Reducing Cyrus to an ahistorical caricature of a backstabbing foil to Tomyris was disappointing in Civ 6.

I'm guessing Darius I, but since the civ seems to have some Sassanian elements I'm holding out hope for Shahpur II. (And I'm 100% certain the civ is Persia.)

Plot twist: Darius, but III :crazyeye:

Whoever it is, I hope their Old Persian is better than Civ6 Cyrus's.

As I understand, the next stream is going to show deeper exploration age gameplay, so potentially we could have some exploration civ reveal now and Persia later. In this case it's probably just Normans.
