Civ VII Weekly Reveal Guessing Thread

Shouldn't there be at least 26 leaders - given that that was how many shipped with Civ 4? (Assuming I'm not misremembering that they said 7 would have the greatest number of leaders on release)
They said more than before, so that would be 27 at least, if they took in account 4 that many even forgot had that many. But they also said it would count personas, and like how they said 31 for civs including the pre-order bonus, they likely mean more than ever before including any that is available in release, even if not vanilla. If that is the case, you have the pre-order leader, the two napoleon you can get by 2k account linking, and the 4 persona from deluxe and founder packs which are likely available on release. So that would mean at least 20 on base game.

Personally, I would prefer more Antiquity leaders than Modern ones in the base game, but that's just me.
That's what I said. :D

We have 5 personas confirmed (Napoleon, plus 2 for each DLC pack) and could have more, if Ashoka alter ego comes in base game.
I expect more leaders than Ashoka to have personae in the base game.

It's unclear to me what they meant be "most" TBH. More than 26 would be nice, but I wonder if they meant more than Civ5/6. E.g., I'd certainly forgotten how many leaders Civ4 had until someone else brought it up.

There's some speculation about whether or not Andrew Fredericksen is aware of how many civs shipped in Civ 4.

I don’t think this is the case. One of the DLCs says it will finished being released by September, and the other one also has multiple release dates specified in the Switch store page.

Up to now Civ has never really had “day 1 paid DLC” outside of preorder bonuses and stuff

Maybe the base game leaders will all be unique, with alternative version of them coming from the deluxe and founders pack (as in Ashoka likely other persona not being in the base game but as part of those packs, etc).

Their comments have strongly hinted, to me at least, there are personae in the base game.

The personas are all part of the Deluxe Content Pack and Founders Content Pack, which are listed as separated from the two dlcs collections. The DLC collections are mentioned as post-launch content, while the same isn't said about the content packs.

The Personas are not part of the DLC Collection, but of the {Edition} Content Packs, so I expect them to be available at launch.

[Edit] In order to add something meaningful, as I was somewhat late, the page with the DLC dates doesn't seem to be still online.
[Edit2] Nevermind, now it is OK again.

You know what, I'll throw one more guess out there: The Plains-Desert start bias mistakenly applied to Han at first hasn't popped up yet. The most reasonable conclusion is that it was just a random mistake, or they had multiple ideas during development. MY conclusion is that it was copied over from the Persia draft, so we'll be getting Persia with a Plains-Desert start bias.

I'd give Persia a Plains-Mountains bias personally; Persia is not as arid as Mesopotamia or the Syrian Desert (actually, Iran is extremely varied in climates). Still, I can't say it wouldn't fit.

Gotcha. I see your point now.

10 civs per age, 5 leaders per age has a nice symmetry. Some (most?) of those leaders will get multiple personas, but I expect those extra personas are mostly in the bonus DLCs issued with the Deluxe / Founders Packs.

Civ7 so far has 5
antiquity Leaders
Augustus
Ashoka
Hatshepsut
Confucius*
Trung Trac*

*No specific civ association (none or more than one so slightly variable Age)

I would guess there will (counting personas)
Probably be 6 (for 18 total)... so I could see it be Ashoka's second Persona (highlight Personas) to make it 6
and Persia as a civ

if they want to round off antiquity

Confucius*
Trung Trac*

Confucius may historically have been Zhou, but I think it's fair to call him Han's historical leader in Civ7 terms. He's certainly not as disassociated as Trung Trac or Amina.
