Rushed job, hope this makes some sense...
2000BC – 1750BC
Rulers came and went, barbarians raged, innumerable battles were fought… but things remained relatively stable during this time period.
Military
Countless wars were fought between the Kairon and Argosians. The Kairons butted their heads against the walls of Herakleia, to no avail. Their invasions and coup attempts against Rhodes also failed. Nonetheless, the Kairon seemed to hold the upper hand for almost a century.
Then a new breed of emperors arose in Argos, and began to launch their own aggressive campaigns. It seemed the gods of war were turning against the Kairon. Oryx was besieged countless times, and the island of Buto came close to falling. But despite their superior numbers, the Argosians couldn’t quite seem to press home the attack. In the end, a stalemate situation continued, with no real loss of territory, though countless soldiers had been killed on both sides.
However, a large new force of Argosian hoplites, archers and chariots has just set out…
Elsewhere, rogue Taejon forces raided into eastern Ormash, and there were numerous small battles. But the previous peace treaties were eventually enacted, the rogue Taejon generals were exiled, and full scale war was avoided. Order was restored in the borderlands with the help of Panga’s Riskien Legions.
Other Events
Ormash settlers establish the splinter colony of Ginash, far to the north of their original homeland. As a result, contact is established with Rayam, an ancient and mysterious civilisation in the north west (see new NPC contacts). Although officially still loyal to Ormash, The people of Ginash struggle to keep contact with the capitol, and it is feared that they are falling under the sway of the Rayamese culture.
Meanwhile, a great project is underway in Ormash. Rumour has it that a giant bronze statue is being built in the capitol, and will soon be completed…
Elsewhere, the reviving Taejon empire is coming into contact with Yaktan kingdoms in the east (see new NPC contacts). Each claims to be the true inheritor of the other’s land and cities. Conflict may not be far away…
A large volcanic eruption took place near Kairon, could this be a bad omen for the people of that land?

Argosian Empire:
Despite their lack of military success, the Argosians still had something to celebrate. Their emperors began an enormous project to restore the ancient Pyramids, great monuments built over a thousand years ago by some of the first civilised peoples, which had since fallen into ruin. Vast resources were focused on this task, and the wonder of the world was finally restored to new glory after a hundred years of work. With large numbers of experienced masons and builders now available, the building program was extended to other cities. These great public works helped create a new sense of culture and unity for the empire, keeping the underlying resentment and anger at bay for now.
+Pyramids production was speeded up, +temples in Mycenae and Ephesos. +Argosian Empire does not suffer any revolts this time!
Almoth:
Under a succession of powerful queens, Almoth becomes a leading military power in the region. The Almothians have developed iron working techniques superior to anything else in the world. Mercenaries flock to the city of High Almoth to buy and sell iron weapons and tools…
+Barracks and Walls in High Almoth, + Iron working tech, +3 veteran chariots, +2 veteran Chainedswords(UU), +2 veteran Hoplites and +2 Bowmen (mercenaries from the Mediterranean), +good chance for more free units in times of war!
Taejon:
Efforts are underway to create a unified leadership. Through arranged marrages between the ruling families of different cities, and other methods, it is hoped that a new imperial dynasty will take shape. Good progress has been made, but leadership remains somewhat divided.
+Taejon does not collapse into anarchy this time!
Ys:
The people of the Ys league have made great efforts to establish trade with the Mediterranean powers. But the distances are a bit too far for the primitive boats to cover easily, whilst also carrying goods. So far, only trade with Karion has been established (which, incidentally, encourages the Karionians to found the colony of Lihst, dangerously close to the expanding borders of Anguile).
+centre of trade in Ys (see Notes), +road infrastructure (I cant get the ai to build colonies

), +400 gold, +300 gold for Kairon, +Curragh (modded for transport ability). (No extra city, because that takes a whole spending point, at this point in time

)
Ormash, Altyn-Kanalat, Zekul, Anguile:
+each received a free city and a couple of defensive units

Contacts with new NPC nations:
Yaktan - NPC
Colour: Very dark gray/green
Culture Group: Asian
Status: emerging power
Background: Founded by a warrior aristocracy of similar origin to Altyn-Kanalat. Unable to find a place for themselves in the north, they returned to the eastern fringes of the former Taejon empire after it began to collapse into anarchy. Here they found weak, squabbling city-states amidst the ruins, and they easily took control over them. The culture of Yaktan is now a mix of middle-eastern and various asian peoples.
Samar – NPC (I decided these are unplayable, I have special plans for them)
Colour: brown
Culture Group: mid eastern
Status: small empire
Background: They are descended from fierce nomadic peoples, who gradually became influenced by the city-builders in the south and east. However, they are still ruled by a warrior nobility, and have a strong horse-riding tradition. Culture is a mix of asian and real-world east european.
Rayam - NPC
Colour: Purple
Culture Group: Asian
Status: small empire
Background: The mysterious and rather isolated Rayam civilisation is also one of the oldest in the world. But unlike the other main centres of civilisation, the Rayam have so far avoided any major catastrophes. They continue to develop at a slowly and steady pace, carving an empire out of the surrounding jungle and swamp. Culture is a mix of real-world indian and khmer/cambodian
Notes:
* most player civs have auto-spawned a settler and build one other city by now
* I made a small wonder to act something like centres of trade in regular NES’s. They give the trade bonus in all squares, as well as act like a marketplace, but they don’t have any culture bonus. They cant be built by the AI, but I can place/remove them when I edit the savegame. Ive made similar things for science and other effects which can be turned on and off as the game goes on.
Maps to come momentarily, in following post…
