Civ3 NES 1

From Finnystan
To Yaktan
We shall consider your proposal once (if?) our nation appears on the map. If we are close to each other, then we see no reason to say no.

We say thanks to your decision may a great feast be held in it's honor

Sorry Finn, it seems to be too late - until he "scenarizes" the game again, adding new civs and so forth. Any ideas when, Daft?

Is it too late yet?

If not, then...

Im afraid Das is right (as always :) ) i have no way of adding/editing new civs at the moment, but i should be able to add them later on...

Rushed update (though ive still stayed up late to finish it :( this is getting bigger than i thought :) ), was doing some experimenting and had some problems with the game – no maps this time, will include them next time.

1750BC – 1500BC

War! The ancient world echoes with the thunder of battle!

Military
(all these wars are still ongoing…)

Ulak-Altyn war

Upon the ascendancy of Taralyk-Khanal to the Golden Throne (sometime around 1750BC), the growing powers of Altyn-Kanalat and the Ulak peoples entered into an era of bitter conflict… A great host of Utrigurk warriors under Taralyk-Khanal himself was joined by veteran mercenaries from the east (Argosian hoplites and charioteers, and also some bowmen from faraway Karion lands). The Ulak city of Talulak was caught unprepared, its weak defence easily overcome.

But the outraged Ulak quickly retaliated, and Taralyk-Khanal was caught by surprise as a large force of Ulak charioteers worked their way down through the mountains...

war31.jpg

The battle that followed was the most brutal and bloody ever seen in the world… at the end of it, the Ulak army was decimated, never to recover for centuries to come, though Taralyk-Khanal was also wounded in the battle, and was never the same again.

war5.jpg

The Altyn-Kanalat forces went on to take the desert city of Ghulaman, but only after a gruelling march through the desert, and an even more gruelling siege against tough opposition and constant harassment by Ulak charioteers.

Much Ulak land had now been captured, and in the years that followed, several new cities were also founded. By the time of Taralyk-Khanal’s death, Altyn-Kanalat was the largest empire on the face of the earth (though not the most populous, or the most developed – those titles remained with Argos).

Argos-Kariona war

The conflict between the Argosian and Karion empires continued in the same on/off fashion, as it had done for centuries. But by 1750 BC, the Argosian forces had become much better organised, and were able to break the long-standing stalemate. Argosian troops finally managed to take Oryx, though the Karionian defence was so fierce that the city was completely destroyed. The western Mediterranean was now firmly under Argosian control.

Terrisander.jpg

Amongst the ruins, the Argosians built a new city named Terrisandria, after their great general Terrisander. Things were looking good as Terisander’s men went on to take Edfu, and began pillaging the area around Kairona itself...

zulucounter.jpg

But Terisander was killed in battle near the enemy capitol, as a vast army of African mercenaries suddenly descended upon the Argosian forces. Although the Karionians own forces had been decimated, their bottomless treasury was able to pay for thousands upon thousands of fresh African troops.

war6.jpg

After a century of back-and-forth fighting, Edfu was in Kairon hands once again, and Terisander had been completely destroyed, a blow to the Argosian morale…

impirhodes.jpg

Fighting took place at sea, too. Islands were not safe from the fighting. Rhodes in particular was continually attacked, but managed to hold firm.

Almoth-Zekul war

Zekulieradead.jpg

Almoth had spent the past few centuries building up its fighting potential. In the centuries after 1750BC, hordes of well-armed Almothian warriors descended upon the lands of Zekul to the north east. Foreign mercenaries joined in the campaigns. The Zekulian peoples put up a brave fight, but the Almothian warriors seemed unstoppable under a succession of powerful warrior-queens. Almothian forces razed Zekuliera to the ground sometime around 1600BC, taking large numbers of prisoners and slaves from the region.

Aran_Brighthelm.jpg

The Zekul capitol of Zekulamuton survived several sieges, but around 1550BC it fell to the legendary Almothian general, Aran Brighthelm (OOC: the first actual leader to emerge in the game, who later went on to inspire a *heroic epic*). A train of slaves and loot was taken back to High Almoth. The Zekul peoples remain independent in the west, with three main cities, which are scattered but well-defended.

Argos-Almoth war
In 1500BC, This war has only just begun…

It started when large Argosian forces crossed the border, hunting Karion pirates and mercenaries who were sheltering in Almoth lands. Recent volcanic eruptions had also displaced many small towns and villages on both sides of the border, causing devestation and confusion about who should pay tribute to whom…

argos-almothwar.jpg

Argos has already pulled most of its troops out of Kairon lands, and has attacked Denton with strong forces, while most of the Almothian warriors are still in the north east...

Taejon - Yaktan war

rebel2.jpg

The cities of Iri Hieju and Sia Teaga rebelled against the emerging centralist leadership. They immediately formed an alliance with Yaktan in the east, and war was inevitable… The bulk of the fighting has been between the western Taejon cities, with the tough ‘Flag Spear’ soldiers on both sides. The peasants have also been brutally repressed on both sides, leading to a sharp decline in the urban population. It seems history may be repeating, with the Taejon region in decline once again…

Meanwhile, Yaktan chariots raid from the east. In more recent times, Yaktan warriors have taken to riding directly on horseback, an idea which seems to be catching on fast…

Other Events

ginashgone.jpg

The splinter colony of Ginash falls under the influence of Rayam, and no longer sends tribute to Ormash. But it has not yet come to war, and Ormash may lose a good deal of trade if it does…

colossi.jpg

The wonder of the west is completed in Ormash. As the city’s reputation grows, it also becomes the main trading gateway between Rayam, Taejon, Panga and beyond...

channel.jpg

The entrance to the Mediterranean becomes dotted with trading colonies, where a large amount of trade continually flows in and out. Despite Ysian efforts, the Kaironian port of Lisht becomes the main trading gateway. But still feeling threatened, the local Kaironian forces launched attacks against Oriant. They were easily beaten off by the tough Kornden militia forces. But war did not last long, as the profits from trade for both sides were too good to lose.

Current trading centres:
(each gets trade-boosting small wonder):
Ys, Ormash, Herakleia (Argosian), Atil (Altyn-Kanalat), Lisht (Kairon)

Spending points results
Altyn-Kanalat:
Extra forces for push against Ulak. Barracks in Altyn Sarai.

Almoth:
Extra forces for push against Zekul.

Argosian Empire:
Rebellions were again prevented, and Argosian scholars also developed the art of mathematics…

Taejon:
The rebellions were not as bad as they could have been… The war has polarised things, and there is now a good chance to establish a solid, unified leadership, if the Yaktan-backed rebels can be defeated.

Panga:
Extensive settling of new towns along the south coast.

Yaktan:
New towns in the south and east.

Ys:
Colony of Oriant was founded at entrance to the Mediterranean (PS: Lyonnese was later settled by regular settler)

Bonuses:
Zekul recieves +1 point for the brave defence of its captiol (once archer took out several chariots and Chainedsword units!)

Rumours:
* It seems Almoth remains the only power in the world to have mastered the art of iron working…
* It is said that Kairon is now broke, and the African mercenaries want payment!
* It is said Anguille has a vast army of Grognard warriors at the ready, but the leaders struggle to support them all, and many are deserting.
* Altyn-Kanalat adventurers are said to have travelled far into the west, across the mountains, where they found and destroyed a large Ulak settlement in a land of swamps.
* Despite the war and chaos surrounding them, scholars in Taejon are said to have created a sophisticated and versatile written language.

how did i back rebels?
the com allied i suppose?
also can i see a picture of the newly settled area

i dont have a generic 'barbarian'/rebel civ, so they had to join someone :)

somehow they gave you no choice...

join me there part of my country?
well there the same color so.
my plans just went down the toilet

Hurrah! I was afraid that the A.I. will bungle it even with your assistance... No hard feelings, Contempt.

Btw, new maps may be in order.

he said he didn't have time next update

Er... Zekul's been defeated in every battle we've fought, and they get the spend point and I don't get any? I can see why you gave them one extra, but now I have to fend off two enemies with a very limited economy, despite my successes.

Defending in Civ III can be absurdly easy.

Your enemies are A.I. too if you put it that way. ;)

so get an ally

*realizes that this could set a favourable precedent* Daft, I think some spending points do need revision. As well as status - after 500 or so years, we are an Emerged Power. ;)
