Civ4 BTS Pre-release Chat with Firaxis

I hope someone asks (I'll probably forget) if 'Native American' is the official name of the new civilization. And if so, why did they think it was appropriate do to its broad representation of the many unique tribes. What makes Native American tribes (Iroquois, Cherokee, Adobe, etc.) less important to be specifically referenced than the others (Maya, Aztec, Inca).

A question I'd like to see asked: has artillery gone back to the old Civ 3 way, where you had ranged bombardment?

Interesting, I might come if I remember. Though I may be in Lapland at that time, so I'll come if I have the possibility.

Because I won't have the possibility to be on the chat can anyone ask a programmer to implement the possibility to set the soundtrack music for each civilization. For instance, if I choose to play Indian Empire, the music that I choose for that civ will be played. If I choose Russia, then I should have a Russian music in diffrent eras etc. A small thing, but is missing, to my mind ! In Civ 3, we actually had such possibility.

More movies is also nice. For example, when founding a city ( or any event that is triggered in the game ). It's not difficult to do and they still have enough time to do it !

the answer is obvious. Did the former had an empire? No. Did the latter? Yes.
I thought the game was called 'Civilization' not 'Empires'. The Aztecs weren't any more centralized than the tribes to the north (Cherokees, Iroquois, Adobe, etc.), other than using a tribute system on the various clans it held influence over. I don't think you can clasify who is more civilized than others because, in the end, they all crumbled (except the Cherokee and other tribes who adapted to some extent).

It starts the same time as George Michael will be taking the stage at his concert we're attending! Therefore, could someone ask if this would be the last expansion for Civ IV or if there would be another one in the future please?

Rome has crumbled too.
The Aztecs had an egemony on the other cities near, while none of the northern natives did. Oh wait, they didn't even had cities (with a few exceptions).
Anyway, I feel it's fine this way; if you don't like the name you can still mod it ;)

Bleh, its really how you define 'city' and 'empire' and 'civilization'.

I really don't have a problem with it, just wonderin is all. It makes some sense as Sitting Bull was a patriot/hero for all Indians as far as I know. Still, having such a bland name doesn't sit right with me.

Aboriginal NOT Indian it is very offensive:mad:

The northern tribes had several that could be classified as empires and civilizations. Many existed as loose confederations of city states, a few as many towns under a single ruler spanning several hundred miles. A few northern groups did build more permanent structures especially in what is now the western united states, the big difference between the southern groups like the Aztecs and the northern groups is the the southern groups had a writing system in place pre-Columbian and so we know a bit more about their pre-Columbian history and rulers, the northern groups are nameless faces before the coming of the Europeans.

As to what I would like to know about the coming game is whether the have added additional changes to the already existing traits as they have done in the past. Or are the just going to keep the Warlords patch style traits. Creative still seems a little weak and expansive would be better if it had its +3 health restored.

I may be able to attend. But in case I can't, and someone else thinks this would be a good question: ask if terraforming can/will return - improving deserts, planting forests and changing terrain.

Exactly. This is what I was trying to say but I lacked the knowledge and facts :D

However, I'm guessing they'll stick with the name 'Native American' civilization (Rhye kinda hinted it)

Is that a joke? Because I didn't know Indian was offensive

Yea I'm not sure either because the local casinos refer to themselves as "Indian gaming" in their ads so at least in my region they don't seem to consider it offensive.

8am over here... I like to sleep in too... I'd wanna ask about Game Balance, like the things currently in Civ Warlords like Imp and Prot Trait be improved? and various other things like the Enviromentalism and Serfdom Civics.

In Canada it is offensive. Well to the only ones that are left...:(

And as for the name if it covers the Canadian and North U.S. Aboriginals I think they will use Aboriginal as the Civilization Name.

Ask them whether they are including Fall from Heaven 1 or Fall from Heaven 2.
