CIV6 Civs and Leaders

Well Hojo Tokimune does seem like an unexpected choice, but I guess also a fitting one, after reading about him. :p

I guess I'll buy that gamestar later, maybe I can find something else interesting. :p

Sounds like his Leader Unique will have a defensive flavor to it. And perhaps his Agenda will be a dislike of civs with the strongest military.

This is the most European-looking Japanese person I have ever seen.
Matbe that's just unfortunate miniature.

Other than that, I like this guy as Japanese leader! Very fresh, not Nobunaga/Tokugawa like everybidy expected, not in stereotype samurai armor, from era before western contact or sengoku, and most important of all - interesting and accomplished man with agenda potentially well reflecting Japanese civilization (something like "we never bow before conquerors" or opposition to military domination).

Hojo, eh? Interesting choice. I like it. :D

That's why I don't like the cartoon style leader art. It seems like it will either be goofy and off the mark or potentially very racist

So we know how Japan's leader looks like before Qin Shi Huang. :)

Cartoons or Caricatures are "off the mark" and "goofy" by definition, and everything is potentially very racist nowdays.

Qin founded a dynasty that lasted for 600 years. That German guy led his country to ruin. They're not comparable.

it seems you are confusing it to some other dynasty, as Qin dynasty lasted for only 15 years (221-206 BC).
thats slightly longer than hitler's rule though

So...

Each civ has:
1 Unique Unit (America's Mustang)
1 Unique Building / Improvement / Unit / District (America's cinema district)
1 Unique Ability that stays during all the game (America's Founding fathers)

Each leader has:

1 Unique Unit (Roosevelt Rough Rider)
1 Unique Ability (Roosevelt combat bonus in his own continent)
1 SECOND Unique ability (Roosevelt extra bonus to national parks)

Oh God, this game is going to kick so, so much ass! Seriously, I am utterly excited for all the possibilities for flavour and tactics that this system brings! Omg, can't freaking wait! *makes the geeky "Happy civ fan" dance*

PS: The video makes a reference to America's increased "Legacy goverment effects"? So goverments are going to get more powerful as the time passes? This sounds AWESOME

So... 6 Uniques? That fighter, rough riders, film studio, national park bonus, home continent bonus and founding fathers? :p With 3 of them related to teddy?

What is interesting is that Ed B described each civ has having 4 bonuses (a civ one, a leader one, a unique unit and a unique infrastructure). But now we know that the leader bonus is more elaborate than just 1 simple bonus. The 1 leader unique is really 3 bonuses wrapped into one.

In my opinion, the Combat bonus on native continent, the tourism from national parks, and the rough riders all constitute one bonus. A bonus that has 3 parts.

Well, but the Chinese Empire more or less lasted from 221 BC to 1912, that's more than two thousand years. Qin Shi Huang may have been a ruthless dictator, but he's clearly also the founder of a nation that can still be seen on the map today.

You know what I would love to see? A Spain civ with Philip II as the leader.

His UA: "Spanish Armada" - All ships cost double and automatically lose combat engagements. :P

:P It would be interesting though to have a Spain with more of a focus on the Siglo de Oro, maybe bonuses to the navy or naval trade routes and generating great artists/writers/musicians.
