Civ6 Live stream in 12 mn (3PM EST)

Horses running off are, I think, a nice touch -- no horses were harmed in the making of this game.

[emoji38] They should run all the way back to their original horse resource tile - their true home. No matter how far. No matter how many oceans have to be crossed.

I'm getting hyped. The 12 minute Twitch video showing basically an entire game to Space Race is interesting.

-Military Districts right in the middle of the road network at natural chokepoints is genius.
-Barbarians having 'plans' sounds like there would be more to it than just mindless killing units
-Modern cities look fantastic, or as good as it could given the art style.
-Love the confirmed day/night toggle :)
-Ed still refusing to confirm what VC they took out
-He stops short of declaring the launch a VC. I wonder if the travel-time for the ship to AC is back?

Not to keen on:
-Some of the late game units (the bomber/tanks) don't look that great

The combat animations are unpleasantly cartoony.

The nighttime lighting looks fantastic, but I'm dubious as to how they can integrate it into normal gameplay without it become a liability. In Cities; Skylines, when the night cycle rolls around, you think, "Looks cool... but I can't see what the @#$%&! I'm doing."

On bolded, totally agree.

On Day/night, it's an option Ed says you can turn on, so I assume it is off by default. But I will certainly turn it on occasionally to enjoy the scenery.

From what he was saying you can turn it off/on, set it to cycle or just keep it at the time that you like

On another note I'm not fond of the icon for the Hagia Sophia. Why do they insist on putting minarets around it? The original cathedral was never built with minarets and they weren't there until the Ottomans added them nearly 1000 years later. The building was designed without minarets and they actually devalue the appearance of the building as it takes away from the dome - which is what the building wraps around

Really? Because I always feel like the minarets add to the building's aesthetic and augment the main structure.

Maybe it's just a matter of personal taste...

Must be I guess - the geometric marvel of the building is in the dome thought not the minarets which I feel takes the focus of the building away from the central dome.

Put simply the original mathematicians knew what they were doing and they had a specific aesthetic style they were going for.
Putting the minarets on is like painting horns on the Mona Lisa.

Mr fanboy here. Yea, those combat animations made me cringe. Badly.

There's a lot of information on policies, buildings and wonders that can probably be gotten from the videos, but I was particularly interested to see how a couple more districts work. It looks like culture districts will benefit from being surrounded by wonders and other districts, while industrial districts will be enhanced by mines, quarries and other districts. This sort of information that will really help with figuring out what city planning will look like.

I certainly hope not. It doesn't make thematic sense (the spaceship is on its way no matter what happens on Earth), and waiting to achieve victory when you've already done everything you can do is not very much fun (see Civ BE). I suspect he simply wasn't ready to confirm anything because the details will be part of a future announcement. I also don't think the video proves anything one way or the other. It could be associated with the victory, but it could just as easily be part of the intro video edited into the footage.

Maybe you just have to launch multiple shuttles or there are additional conditions that need to be met

Hopefully that means there is more you can do with faith in the early game rather then save for a religion.

From what I could see of The Oracle's tooltip, it seems like you'll be able to rush-buy great people with faith right off the bat in this game, rather than having to invest in certain policies first like you did in Civ 5.

This creates some interesting gameplay options. If you don't care about spreading your religion, you can use all your faith to rush Scientists, Artists, or Merchants and push for some other victory type.

Or you could wait until you get a Great Prophet from points, then rush a second one to enhance your religion right way.

It looks like there are three different projects that need to be built in the spaceport, probably analogs for Sputnik (first orbit), Apollo (Moon landing) and finally the Alpha Centauri mission.

I'm wondering why the Aqueduct is a district and what else could be built in it.

Perhaps the aqueduct is part of a health district?

So the Hospital and Medical Lab go into the Aqueduct district? Maybe something like a Grocery.

Excellent - so that means the Oracle can give you an early focus on great people so you can recreate the hellenic age.
