Civilization Leader Pass: New DLC most likely coming!

I'm not so certain about Russia. Catherine is an obvious choice, and omission might be a greater political statement from Firaxis than inclusion.
I feel that Catherine might be too similar to Peter, not to mention we literally have another Catherine in the game already. Ivan the Great or Ivan the Terrible might be a better option with a more distinct playstyle.

You forgot Spain.
The possibility of Isabella appearing never dies.

I agree with Rome, but I think it would need to be visually distinguishable from Trajan. So the usual suspects don't fit, i.e., Julius Caesar or Octavian.

The Ottomans are a Gathering Storm civ. Arabia is much more likely.
There's nothing stating that these are for Base Game Only, just because they chose 4 base game leaders.

Mongolia got an alt leader in NFP, and certain DLCs were required for some of the content. There's no reason why this won't be the case again. Everybody's fair game.

If they also started development before recent events, that could also lead to Russia being in... So it's not impossible but I think much lower probability than before.

I would say the least likely 2 civs would be Netherlands and Scotland. Wilhelmina and Robert have such weak leader abilities that any new leaders would just invalidate them.

But you could still play with Kublai Khan as China with out Rise and Fall. So unless it is a dual leader that is shared with a base game civ (eg: Piye leading Egypt and Nubia) we can unfortunately not be certain everyone could get an alt.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with them saying that you need an expansion pack to play one of the leaders.

I didn't say it is wrong. If it was up to me I would want alt leaders for non-base game civs too.

But right now all of the alt leaders are playable with the base game civs so it doesn't look like that is the direction they are going. I hope I am incorrect tho.

True, but you don't need any previous DLC to enjoy Frontier Pass DLCs. Kublai is available for China, and none of the leaders in NFP use G&K or GS mechanics. There were some elements that required DLC, but not the leaders themselves.

I think it's possible, especially seeing how long ago those expansions were released. They even allowed one year for sales of the Anthology version. So we could see a mix this time around. I don't think everybody is fair game though, especially for Civs released in NFP.

Isabella is such an obvious omission, I don't know how I managed to forget Spain, especially since I was obviously looking at a list. :crazyeye:

I mean that has the be Elizabeth right? I know that was the most obvious to everyone and we're just trying to play now.

For an alt-leader of Russia, may I humbly suggest Alexander II? (Use his Russian name of course). He was a greatly progressive tsar who liberated the serfs and ended Russian feudalism.

Considering it's Leader Pass, not a Leader Pack, we may get more than just bunch of leaders. I think some meaningfull balance changes are very likely to happen, maybe some changes to existing mechanics, new not civ-specific infrastructure, maybe they will finally finish map editor, because it's buggy as hell, to the point it just not worth spending time there at all.

*inhale copium*
They gonna make something meaningfull out of specialists and release DLL.

Very excited about a new Egypt leader. I still have a soft spot for Egypt even if I don't think they are all that powerful. I play them fairly often compared to many civs.

I would love another German leader, but that's the dreamer in me.

Not sure we need another England leader as we have 2 already, but I know she's popular.

Someone mentioned Lincoln having some diplomatic features, but one of the Teddy's already has a diplomatic focus, so that seems unlikely. And I feel like Teddy should be the diplo leader regardless. And the other Teddy gets combat bonuses, so I'm not sure what Lincoln would do.

My feeling right now is that he will have a bonus against free cities or benefit in some extra way from participating in emergencies.

Damn, I definitely didn't think we'd be getting anymore CIv VI dlc before VII, but I'm definitely not complaining!

I hope we get Tokugawa Ieyasu for Japan as a leader focused on boosting conquered citystates, or Emperor Meiji to double-down on the meiji restoration ability and make Japan an insane empire-building civ.

Well this is reassuring, a big announcement dropped while I was sleeping
