Civilization V Announced!

Hexes! Interesting to see how this is going to play out. Me likes, it also means that they are bold enough to make big changes, that's good, means it's definitely more than just a lot of pretty new graphics.

Of course, the real make-or-break for me is how modifiable it will be, it better be as open as CivIV!

...and I hope that they actually have a nice graphics engine, because I just saw how well ME2 ran on my old PC, so I totally expect that CivV will not only look, but also run well!

Cheers, LT.

BTW, welcome to Fanatics there berni19. You kinda got lost in the excitement.:beer:

"With unprecedented modding tools, players will have the options for modifying Civ V anyway they like."

Sid Meier is the shrewdest and smartest game designer out there, he knows what has made the Civilization series so successful and will not shirk on the details that have kept people like us around for nearly two decades.

I hope they stick with the multiple leaders per civilization and provide each one with at least two...by the way, that image of Washington standing like a bad ass, absolutely epic!!

I can't wait for this...I've been feeling very Civilization-ey lately and been playing Civ 3 like a madman. I was actually thinking about how they should make a Civ V...maybe dreams do come true.

Ahhh!

Players are introduced to an entirely new combat system, deeper diplomatic interactions and a cavalcade of expanded features that deliver a fully immersive experience providing hours of entertainment as players build and defend their empire on their quest to become the greatest ruler the world has ever known.

I wonder what the diplomacy changes will be??

Happy i am !

Less happy for Mac Version :(

It seems rather odd that they're only giving themselves nine months or so between announcement and release. That said, hell yes! New computer ahoy!

The question everyone from the Civ4 forums is asking... will it be multi-threaded? Can our Quad-Cores run the game smoothly for once?

But they probably have the game close to beta by now, so there is just the kinks and bugs to work out.

woooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

wooooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Hell yeah this makes me happy :)

Bright day
I am anxious, but I am going to buy it anyway so I should not :):):):):) on internet.

I was supposed to continue my studies and get in to a new school this year. Way to go ruining my plans again, thanks Sid.

Looks awesome. Definitely something to look forward to. I just hope I can play it smoothly.

Also, this means I have a deadline to get to deity :o

It's success or failure will be defined by how moddable it is. If you give us less tools than we have for Civ4, I won't play it.

At first I thought that to be a rather severe claim, but on further reflection, you're probably right. RevDCM and mods like it have introduced features to Civ that I can't really live without, and since Firaxis probabaly won't integrate anything similar...

Anyway. Awesome anouncement. :)

Greetings, fellow Civ fanatics! I left 2K last summer, so I'm no longer working with Firaxis. But I did want to post here in solidarity.

Civ V is gonna rule. :)

I'd gladly pay $50 for them to re-release Civ 4 as a multi-threaded version.
