To Massilia:
From the Republic of Rome:
Surrender now, and you will not be harmed. Lay down your weapons, and accept Roman administration and citizenship. As Roman citizens you will hold all the same rights as Italians: the right to protection under Roman law, the right to elect your representatives to the Senate, et al. Accept Roman governorship, and we will bring you all the trappings of Roman civilization: roads, aqueducts, ampitheatres. Refuse us, and we shall destroy your homes and your fields, and pursue you to a man across the whole expanse of Gaul. Do you not prefer life and prosperity over death?
To Carthago:
From the Republic of Rome:
Hail, friends. We should like to remind you of our deal. Please halt your expansion at the Taja; we shall do the same. We look forward to continued cordial trade relations with you.
To Greek Cities:
From the Republic of Rome:
We will reiterate our position. The Western Mediterranean is closed to Greek colonization. Failure to abide by this declaration will result in war with the Republic, and the destruction of your cities.
To the Kingdom of Macedonia:
From the Republic of Rome:
Hail, great sons of Alexander! The sons of Aeneas greet you. We applaud your actions against Epirus. Rome has no love for that city, as we remember all too well the actions of Pyrrhus of Epirus in Italy. We congratulate you on your initial successes, and pray to Mars for your rapid victory over the Epirian forces. That said, we wish to allie with you. Unlike the greedy, lying "independent Greeks" dwelling south of your lands, we believe the Macedonian Greeks to be a fine and noble race, worthy of Roman friendship. We believe that alliance and friendship will prevent any conflicts when our borders meet in Illyria, and will benefit both of our peoples in other endeavors. Will you agree to this alliance of friendship?
