Only the admins can create subforums, but I'll set it on their schedule .

Does anyone think the ISDG would need its own subforum?

On the issue of whether it needs it, take a look at the historical links I posted above a few days ago. I think it would be better to have a sub forum for the internal, private discussions of the CFC team, for privacy of course, but also so the multiple threads that it tends to generate wouldn't overwhelm the regular MP forum. That said, I think it's good to keep Kiffe's thread and the CFC organising thread I started here in the regular MP forum, to draw in new players. Make sense?

Each civ 3 demo game had not only its own sub forum, but also another sub forum for diplomacy for that game.

Not needed now, but when the game gets off the ground, team CFC will need a place for private discussions, screenshots, etc.

If you're talking about the CFC forums hosting not only that private place, but also a sub-forum for all the stuff between teams...well, that's probably a good idea, as long as the two can be kept separate, and the other teams can accept the CFC site generally as a neutral host, while also playing against a CFC team.

The social groups could theoretically be used, until a forum is available.
They can be set to invite only, and also to private (so that only members can read the threads in them).

For example, I would assume any out of game espionage would not be allowed, and hope that we can rely on the honour system there. Some can't help themselves from infiltrating others' discussions, even if their teammates wouldn't want to win by exploiting such information. I'm pretty sure issues like this have come up in past ISDGs.

of course we need some rules. So far, I have list several issue that we need to decide to put rules or not. Feel free to complete the list or to give your opinion on these subjects.

In game

- City state exploit : peace/war each turn to attack CS without any damage or pillage and repair to make cash out of improvment

- City trading : you can raze building quicker for instance while trading city

Outside game

- Screenshot map exchange : are they allowed ?

- Is diplo contact before meeting in game allowed ?

For anyone in Team Civfanatics, to get access to the private forum, go to your user control panel, and select the Group Memberships option.
Find the Civ5 ISDG - Team Civfanatics group, and request to join it.

Onan can then approve (or not) any join requests. Once approved, those people should be able to see the private forum.

Kiffe, I'd say no to diplo contact before meeting in the game.

For team CFC, we'll keep using the (also private) social group you've already been invited to, to discuss bans and civ picks, while I get my head around the concept of only allowing trusted people into the private forum.

I'd strongly recommend using the forum, because social groups are always a bit out of the normal view when you visit the forum and don't get as much traffic.

Since there's now a subforum, I'd suggest splitting the stuff a bit up.
Obviously there should be a thread for the Civ selection procedure (Kiffe?), and one for the general rules discussion (that might have to be splitted later in more threads, but for the beginning...).

I'll also check some of the stickies from the older ISDGs/DGs in the next time, and when this forum has been filled a bit with threads, then I'll make a main site announcement for the game here .
