Community Patch - How To Install

You are welcome and I am glad that you made it work. I just wonder - why did you try the manual install if you have the simple option of using the autoinstaller which does everything for you - you do not need to bother with deleting files, clearing cache or choosing the appropriate 6-whatever compatibility component. I am not criticizing you or anything, I am just wondering if the install instructions are not clear enough as you are not the first person trying (and failing) with the manual install.
Oh, I believe the first two times I was using a direct link to the manual download from a YouTube video I was watching. I've also had great success manually downloading and extracting other mods before, but I guess it just didn't work for me this time.

I have just completed my first gameplay using the whole Vox Populi mod pack and I must say I am amazed at how much both the game and my gaming experience improved with the mod compared to the vanilla game. I had won several Emperor games on Vanilla without much trouble, but I had to lower the difficulty to Prince when using Vox Populi or I was getting reckt! The AI plays in a totally different level, I love it! So much smarter and organized and it really feels like a human player that has a strategy planned to win and is bribing or subduing the other players to do as he/she wishes instead of just acting like it's pressing random buttons without knowing much what is it doing. The gameplay improvements and changes provided by the overhaul made the game a million times better in my opinion. I played Iroquois on a wet Pangea map (kinda cheating with the high amount of jungle/forest in my favor) and went for an Authority military victory. Thing is, as opposed to the vanilla game where I would have been able to steamroll the opponents by medieval age latest, the game went on to the late Industrial Era with the Vox Populi. The captured cities were messing with my global happiness so much and the war weariness was unbearable without several breaks in the war. I have probably not found the right way to deal with the happiness (since it is my first game after all) but the dang citizens never seemed to be happy! I had to keep the buildings they wanted to address the local happiness issues instead of just building the buildings I needed/wanted to build. It felt much more like the cities were alive. I also loved the whole new diplomacy system with other civs and specially with city-states. Both the heavy tribute and the need to invest on emissaries and similar instead of simply spending gold on befriending a city-state makes the game much more interesting. Overall: I am thrilled with the experience and I can't wait to start my next game. Vanilla Civ 5 and Civ 6 are garbage compared to the Vox Populi Civ 5. Amazing job people!! Congratulations on making a great game into an EPIC game!
Thank you for reading the whole post! :)
Cheers!

Hi - does anyone know if I can use the auto installer when I already have EUI installed? Should I also disable all my other mods?

If you want to use EUI alongside VP you need to use the version of EUI that comes bundled with VP, so you should delete your local EUI copy and then install the full VP with EUI option with the installer.
As for other mods...check out this thread regarding compatibility with other mods.

My game version is the latest. I tried to install EUI seperately. Turn out bug is gone. But my Unit Panel still have bug. Couldnt see settle button. No info pop up when i hover mouse over Terrain.

Could you help me by uploading your EUI file?

I am using EUI v1.29beta28 right now. I think better EUI version will fix it.

Are you using the auto-installer? If yes, select the EUI version.
I suspect he has a non-standard Civ5 installation (e.g. Civ5 on other drive than C: and a newer, VP-incompatible EUI installeds. So the autoinstaller puts VP-EUI in the standard location on C:, which is wrong, because the game does not pick it up and it picks up the wrong non-VP EUI from the correct location.

@demondance, delete VP, the cache and ModUserData folders (on the same level as MODs folder). Then run a search for UI_bc1 (the EUI folder). I suspect that it will feel me 2 instances. Delete both and write down the locations.

Then run the VP autoinstaller again (choose the EUI version when prompted). Then copy UI_bc1 from the wrong location to the correct one.

BTW, the terrain tooltip not showing is probably only caused by the delay settings in the game options.

I was having a recurring issue with the EUI in this mod. The issue was that some of the panels like the notification panel and the unit panel were not showing or visible, but the game was otherwise running fine, but after 200 or so turns of having to press F7 to look at the logs to see crucial notifications, i gave up.
I had previously played CIV5 using the EUI, but I reinstalling CIV5 the game and deleting the contents of my DLC folder didn't help.

Fortunately after days of uninstalling and reinstalling the game and the mod with some fresh new inspiration, I found the issue.

My steam directory is installed on my D: drive, but the automatic installer had put the EUI folder UI_bc1 into a brand new location at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\DLC

I simply copied the UI_bc1 folder into its correct location in my real steam folder and voila, it works like a dream!

Hi Guys,

I've registered here, since I could not make run CBP properly. I've had the same texture loading error as demondance, but putting the UI_bc1 file in the correct folder resolved this problem. But sadly I still don't have any resources on any map (tried a regular map and a Ynaemp map). I could not find a solution for this via Google, so maybe someone here can help me?

Thanks!

@Tirima, this is typically happening when your Civ5 is out of date. You can check the version under the main menu when you start the game - the newest version ends with .279. If yours does not, update Civ5 from Steam (and also make sure you have all DLCs.)

Oh, and you know that in VP some resources are by default revealed after you research a relevant tech (you can see it in the tech tree), right?

Also, when you try next time, go with some standard map script, not YNAEP.

Hi vyyt,

thanks for your help. I checked, whether I have the newest version and I do the .279 version and all DLC's. I just started a game to see, whether it's a tech based problems, but even after researching the first few techs, not a single resource is on my map :/
Any other ideas, what may be the problem?

Thanks!

You save my life. Thanks so much.

I've discovered this mod just now.

Two questions:

1 - Can i use new civ mods with this?

2 - How can i deactivate this mod if i want to play without it some time without having to erase everything related to the mod?

1- If it compatible (mod will tell you if it is) yes you can but you need to search trough
2- on main menu you can just play normal unmodded game (first selection)
or on Modded game menu you can just uncheck the mods

hello! i posted the same thing elsewhere, but maybe this is a better place?

ever since i updated to the latest version, including the hotfix, i have been encountering massive memory/ video memory lag. (though i am not sure what exactly) i have not seen anyone else posting about this, so i figured i would ask here.

after deleting everything and reinstalling, emptying the cache folders, updating the video driver, etc, i still get this terrible lag. looking at the task manager, i see nothing unusual in memory or processor usage. i can be five turns in with one unit and it bogs down and even affects switching to my browser and using that. shutting down the browser (firefox) changes nothing. everything slows down to a crawl, then speeds up again at random when interacting with units. during wars it is the worst, making one turn last several minutes due to lag waiting for a unit to do anything. even playing no other mods(the sanctioned ones), except VP (1-6), it still happens. i even tried vanilla CIV 5, which is totally weird since i have been using VP for more than a year, and i do not have the same problem. i thought rolling back to VP (5-20-3) eliminated the problem, but after an hour of gameplay, it becomes a problem again. i even rolled back the video driver to no effect.

the latest version of VP changed something, somewhere, but i cannot figure out what. i have stopped short of reinstalling CIV 5, since that would take so long.

any ideas?

thank you! :)

PS: possible bugs?
1) rolling back to old version of VP, i immediately got preferable starting point, while with the newer, it was never civ specific preference seeming.
2) indonesia does not like to trade at all his spices, is this a bug, he never gives any reasonable price on his civ specific spices. other luxuries he trades normally? i never noticed before until a recnt playthrough.

If I may add to 1), mod-modders are creating VP-versions of custom civs, you can check the list here:
https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/vox-populi-compatible-civilizations-showcase.574461/

The problem with the custom civs is, that even if they are technically compatible, they may be too weak or imbalanced with VP. The unit strengths are different from vanilla, so you may have a problem with a UU. The happiness works differently, so UB may be irrelevant or not lower the happiness needs as their non-unique counterparts, etc. If you are new to VP, I would absolutely discourage you from playing custom civs until you get the grip of the VP basics and balance.

Hmmm, our of ideas. When you open the tech tree, do you actually see the resource reveal icons in the tech tree? You should. From what you are writing - it seems that you do not and you only randomly researched a few techs to see if any resources appear? Not sure if it would help in any way, but have you tried revealing the map with the InGame Editor mod? Still "0" resources? Also, "0" city states?
